AiNA’s voice is the most special - yes - but they are all talented - Hashiyasume Atsuko has her acting and stage management skills, and Ayuni-D has both solo material and the legacy of PEDRO - it only takes Hisako Tabuchi to take another hiatus from the revived Number Girl for PEDRO to be on the road again with their eccentric pop-post-punk - Ayuni is much improved on bass guitar now.
A month ago WaCK did advertise auditions for the ‘new BiSH, so that’s true to form - there have been three or four incarnations of the first Alt-Idols - BiS, but I lose count
You can’t remember her name - Lingling

Number Girl's reunion seems to have been short lived, so PEDRO is back on the cards again, assuming the three musicians want to do it. AYUNi also has her pop project, which has been a bit under the radar so far but might be her preference for the future.
BiS is currently in its third generation with no original members. They're still putting out decent material with a fairly strong line-up, but they just seem a little tame given the group's history. I thought ASP might be the new wild WACK group, but both of their major label tracks to date have been very pop-oriented.

I agree with you about Aina and Ling Ling's voices. "Their voices are so unique, I've never heard anything like then before". I know you were in the moment, but you have clearly forgot about Mayu.... LOL

This! Pairing Ayuni with the legendary Tabuchi Hisako was a stroke of genius. Hisako is legendary since the nineties, because of her guitar playing in NUMBER GIRL. She even influenced Sheena Ringo (who collaborated briefly with her btw), her guitar style is so unique, she's one of the great master of the Fender Jazzmaster. I have all Pedro albums (and several blurays), of course you have to get use to Ayuni's seriously high pitched voice but this is real good music.

I don't know why BiSH is breaking up, but there's absolutely no reason for any group to break up because of solo activities from one/other member(s). It's common practice in Japan. A lot of Idols from the big groups have solo careers, are acting and/or modeling and participate in multiple "side groups" beside being in singles and MVs of the main group and touring with them all at the same time. It's the same with rock and metal musicians, there aren't a lot who solely focus on one project. Band-Maid is a rare exception from the rule and even Miku has a solo album. It's also not just since yesterday that AiNA has her skills, it's like that from the beginning, even though the other members all got a lot better over time. If the "skill gap" would be the reason, they probably would have broken up when Hug Mii "left" in 2016.

I feel like they broke up just because Watanabe wants to stoke up interest and drama again with the usual reboot, all he tweeted after the announcement was "penis" after all. BiSH was born from his desire to keep BiS going after they broke up, then BiSH got alot more popular than BiS ever was, opening up the opportunity to reboot BiS like 3 more times, now they're doing that whole "BiSH THE NEXT" thing.
I hate that cycle. I envy the stability of kpop groups in that regard, the jpop scene is too focused on selling CDs which makes the companies pull stunts like breaking up groups and remaking them or adding onto them with a bunch of new members while kicking old ones in an infinite cycle just to bait local fans into buying as many CDs as possible and going to as many small live shows as possible in order to support their favorites.
If they just took a few notes from kpop and focused more on streaming and international accessibility then BiSH could have been a goldmine going for many more years. I don't think any of the members are the reason for the breakup.
Regarding a supposed skill gap I don't think it's generally true. Aina has a very unique voice which is conventionally appealing in punk and rock spheres, and she is always reliably confident live, but I think her sound makes her less versatile. Like if I'm listening to a bunch of Ainas songs and want to change up the mood a bit I have to change artist, unlike with PEDRO for example. That might just be me though.

@@vergil8833 Well, you perfectly described why I hate the majority of the Japanese music scene. "We sold X less CDs than last month, let's kick X, Y and Z out and bring in new members!" is how it works according to documentaries, reports, dramas, movies, anime, etc. Those producers never even think about that maybe it was their fault for writing a shitty song/album and because of that they exploit, use up and throw away thousands of girls' dreams and potential careers (I don't know if it works the same way with male idols, was never one bit interested in that scene). If something goes wrong, it's always the idols fault, see the incident a few years ago where an AKB sidegroup Idol was harrassed and assaulted by some guys inside her apartment building and then needed to apologize publicly for speaking out about the incident on her social media because management did nothing about it.
There was a time when I really liked the other WACK groups besides BiSH too, like GO TO BEDS, BiS, ASP, etc, but these days I don't even know who's in which group, if a group even still exists. If you don't speak Japanese you won't get any real information anyways with WACK, so I just gave up following them. I don't know if BiSH wouldn't have disbanded if they ever expanded outside of Japan, but I definitely agree they would've made a lot of money. But that's just how it works in Japan, 99% of agencies/producers/whoever's in charge, be it music, tv/drama, movies, etc, only care about Japan and completely disregard every other market in the world. The only "Japanese product" that gets exported regularly is anime and that industry is oversaturated and the people in it get exploited to hell (not that any entertainment industry in Japan is much better).
I also agree with your statement about AiNA and her voice. I definitely prefer PEDRO over her solo stuff and not only because I listen almost exclusively to rock/metal. But I'm looking forward to watch Kyrie no Uta, the movie she starrs in that's in cinemas in Japan at the moment, with Hirose Suzu as co-lead. If it ever gets released outside of Japan of course.

@@ANDOR- Yeah the industry is really stuck in the 90s
I can't fathom why they wouldn't expand when they saw how the kpop scene blew up. It's not like it took much, BTS built its rabid fanbase on the "revolutionary idea" of putting out youtube videos of the members daily goings and beheind the scenes videos and so on with english subtitles.
BiSH has those exact same videos, and they had it at the same time that BTS's cult of personality was growing in the west, but they're nowhere to be found on youtube, they're instead locked behind some obscure paywall that is only in japanese, and the product will definately not have any subtitles.
But yeah, they're more interested in the abusive cycle of localized reboots and drama to keep CD sales going rather than being internationally competitive.
The only comforting thing is that Ayuni D probably won't ever stop making music

I loved BiSH's first three or four albums but once Aina started her solo career, I lost interest in the group because Aina's work was so much better (same for Ayuni's Pedro project in another style). So I deeply regret that, for commercial reasons only (selling as many cds and merch as possible), WACK! extended the "goodbye" for more than one year! One year lost for Aina and Ayuni.
