    This was some really helpful background, thanks! I'm not actually playing in Eberron, I was looking for a source for my Aasimar Aberrant Mind sorcerer's powers that was a little different and thought it would be cool if the Quori attempted to highjack the Aasimar dream connection but were blocked and that left a psychic imprint that he is now developing.

    What a solid video. I play a Kalashtar in a homebrew campaign and this really helped my DM Work The dreaming dark lore and hierarchy into the game!
    This is areally great overview and it’s open ended enough to not offer that many spoilers and integrate into a character’s a and a campaign’s story. ✨👍

    Ok so thank you so much. This seriously made something click in my mind. I was having trouble with mentally placing the Quori as Evil because I couldn't really blame them for wanting to stop the changing of the age - I was under the impression that it happening meant all current quori would be existentially unmade and die entirely while a new batch was made for the new age.
    Now it makes so much more sense though that they, being evil aligned creatures, are simply resisting the natural cycle of being remade/reprogrammed into something they don't currently see themselves as. As evil creatures of course they'd want to resist that sort of change, reflecting the mortal aspects of greed, lust for power, Fear, etc.
    Maybe in some ways it's still existentially messed up but to me, this idea of resisting the changing of their current nature is SO much better than 'they all just stop existing lol'. It was the last puzzle piece I needed to Get the quori and understand their place in the cosmology, thank you!

    Ok, so as a person that has been DM/GM'ing since the 80's players can know as much, if not more, as the person running the game and it should be no problem. Limiting a players knowledge of a setting only decreases the fun for all. You have so much good knowledge here, it is a shame you recommend players not listen to it if their campaign is Quori based.

    • @eberron_arch

      Different players have different abilities to separate player and character knowledge. I assume those who are good at separation will ignore the warning, but it's safer to give the blanket warning anyway

    what would a positive sub race of Quori be like ones that help keep you safe in your dreams from the negative Quori

    • @eberron_arch
      @eberron_arch  8 месяцев назад

      There's no canonical specific varietal of quori that would do that. The rebel quori who became Kalashtar came from all levels, and presumably upon the turning of the age all quori would change personality and alignment from IL lastavar to il yannah.

    I added Kalashtar into my Home brew and researched the Quori. This adds more. I did a few things when I added them into the home brew….. a second rebellion in the dream scape.
    The Quori rebels learned from Ebberon. The Kalashtar in my home brew are mostly of half elven ancestry, so they live longer than humans. Since they are newer to my world, they are first or second generation Kalashtar. I also use the Damphr lineage for the dark ones with some modifications to the lineage for a different version of the inspired….. separating the two groups.
    The Quori are cousins of the Deep Old ones or were created from their dreams…… That has been lost to time. This is my home brew lore… so it’s not Ebberon canon.
    Anyway, it allowed me to tie some of Tasha’s rules as well as some of the other supplements to flavor path of the ancestral guardian Barbarian and Tasha’s Wild companion for Druids to a Quori manIfestation. I worked with another DM friend to flesh it out and work in some buffs and balancing restrictions for the “psychic” subclasses that could be specific to a Kalashtar or Inspired PC.
    We started working on similar projects for other lineages and races about a year ago as well as feat trees that PCs and NPCs could follow. We play test the creations and develop some lore as part of the process of the world building.

      @@Red-pv3ct Thank you for the complement. Back in December we started to look at other systems for inspiration as well.
      We were surprised when my home brew fit pretty well with pathfinder 2E without much work, a few adjustments and flavor modifications but all in all those were lore based and not system based. The system is a tad bit crunchy based on a play testing a few Paizo made modules to see how the game play was. Certain aspects of 5e are nicely streamlined for game play, but the character creation of Paizo’s system fit the world building aspects of the setting since one of the lineages is based in part on Aasimar from DND 3.5 and I had to home brew three different lineages for one race of planar touched.

      @@syvajarvi2289 You're more than welcome man, it's hard to find such a creative and dedicated dungeon master when it comes to world building, so it's easy to appreciate when someone like you puts in so much effort, I'll admit that I've never been a dm, and that I've only ever gotten to finish one campaign, but that doesn't stop me from loving the game nor from appreciating the dms who make these awesome worlds of endless adventure for their parties to explore, so thanks for that man, a dedicated dm is always greatly appreciated

    Hi! For a spell interaction: are the Quori celestial? Aberrations? Something else?

    • @eberron_arch
      @eberron_arch  2 года назад +3

      in 3.5 they were outsiders, in 5e they are aberrations - though Exploring Eberron recommends changing them to be fiends to be more in line with the lore - they never got official stats in 4e so they could have been a lot of different things.

  • @Rawilow
    @Rawilow Год назад

    I really do want to know more about the quori.
    Like, if they can't manifest in the material plane, why have statblocks for them? Only if characters planeshift to the Dal Quor?
    Or do they use those stats when they interact with people who dream?

    • @eberron_arch
      @eberron_arch  Год назад +4

      There's a few reasons to have stat blocks - 1) As you said: planeshifts to Dal Quor, 2) The DM can use those stats if encountered by dreamers under specific circumstances (lucid dreaming, some sort of dreamwalk spell or power etc). 3) Various reasons that the Quori do end up manifesting on the material plane or another plane (specific locations like the Fey Tower of Dreams, or due to eldritch machines, or the result of a dreaming dark plot)
      You can also do things like take the psionic powers/spells from the quori stat block, and apply them to the Inspired that they are possessing.
      Next time I make a video focusing on the Quori this is something I should try to remember to cover!

  • @macoppy6571

    Are there any published adventures that feature the Quori? Which would you recommend?

    • @eberron_arch
      @eberron_arch  Год назад +2

      There's a Quori in the 3.5 adventure "Eyes of the Lich Queen" but it's very tangential to the actual story of that adventure.
      There are are some Inspired in a couple of the official 3.5 RPGA adventures that I am more familiar with (there's a lot of them so I can't remember them all off hand) - but no incarnated Quori that I can remember.
      So there's not much to recommend adventure-wise - I even did a quick DM's Guild search, and came up with nothing available there either. Sorry!

    • @eberron_arch
      @eberron_arch  Год назад +5

      Wait, I forgot the DM's Guild adventure "AE01-12 Lost in Dreams" - its mostly about Taer Lian Doresh, the Eladrin feyspire that is trapped partway between the material plane and Dal Quor, and while the adventure is not about Quori, they are a significant player in it
