Now I kinda wanna see what Belly Drum looks like when Linoone uses it lol. Would probably be pretty cute and innocuous

Imagine being in the elite 4 and then getting swept by an oversized weasel.
Badger, not weasel. Outside of the length of Linoone's body, it has nothing in common with weasels, physically speaking.
@@james_ford86 it runs fast after prey, long body yeah, it's a weasel or stoat or whatever kind of weasel family member chases down it's lunch. Definitely not a badger.

What makes this so great is it is LITERALLY what Pokemon is all about. Training and experience. Not just "some Pokemon are just inherently strong so use them" but rather "explore all available possibilities of a Pokemon and find the features that MAKE it strong."
??? Except Linoone *is* inherently a strong Pokemon thanks to its moveset. Not exactly pseudo-legendary tier but still very good. We're not gonna sweep the E4 with a Sunkern.
He Fast, He Drum, But Most Importantly He Carry The Run!
He attac,he protecc, but most importantly,he sweep the smacc
HMs!
I recently did what I'll call a 102% run of emerald: it's basically a hardcore nuzlocke but instead of catching pokemon as I go along I catch the 6 species available in the grass in route 102 (poochyena, zigzagoon, wurmple, lotad, seedot and ralts) and beat the game with hardcore rules using just those 6. I expected Gardevoir to take over as soon as I got it and maybe ludicolo to help in the late game, but I ended up using linoone to sweep 2-3 of the E4 members with belly drum.
It was fun, and less grindy than most nuzlockes. I totally recommend it.
No Surskit?
That is a excelente idea!! We could maybe extend it to other routs to, like in the cave before the second gym
@@TikiShades masquerain too op
@@TikiShadessurskit is only available at the post-game in emerald
Linoone has such a nice design btw, it's very realistic and truly inspired to an animal, and as this video showcases it can be actually good. However you can do this only in Emerald, because Steven walls linoone
@@FlygonHG the leading skarmory always goes for toxic or spikes so linoone can setup but maybe skarm can tank a couple of returns, and if it lands a toxic then it's gg. I'll go to the damage calc and see
@@FlygonHG I have swept Ruby with Linoone. Dig does work but you have to be careful because earthquake will wreck your shit.
Agree with prior comments - it is certain possible but more luck based than you'd want for a Nuzlocke
Still always great to have something that guarantees the elite four safely, leaving you with 5 full-health pokemon for Steven, that you can select for countering him specifically.
People don’t realise that the reason Linoone is so good is because of his avatar marking on his head.

Early Game Rodents are SUPER slept on. Linoone’s definitely up there as the “no guts no glory” pick, but people also tend to not recognize the devastation Raticate and Bibarel are capable of with a bit of fine tuning.
Awesome video, man
Super Fang + Thunder Wave is why Raticate ended up on my final E4 team in Fire Red once. Raticate outruns more than you expect it to, and if it can Thunder Wave, it has an opening to Super Fang, which puts a lot of Pokemon out of range of healing, but in range for a sweeper to KO. assuming the opponent doesn't use a Full Heal, but very few trainers use them.
Furret?
@@mlvluu9836
Furret unfortunately gets a pretty awkward kit, and to make matters worse, it’s not even that easy to find, ONLY showing up on the very first route unless you get to the post game OR are playing Crystal
It’s not a bad Pokémon either, tho, if I’m being honest: evolves early, gets Foresight to handle Double Team and to let it grind up on ghosts early game, and it can actually learn Surf
It just runs into a problem of not really specializing, which means it loses out late game to other generalists with better stats overall or better moves
I'm glad someone else realized the TRUTH POWER of Linoone.
Everybody is always surprised when I say that Linoone is one of my favorite hoenn pokemon. "But mightyena has intimidate and both wurmple evolutions can sweep brawly, so they're better in nuzlockes" they say. But linoone is insanely good. You get early STAB headbutt, mud sport in time to destroy Wattson, and more.

this channel is about to blow the fuck up bro, cant believe you only have 6k subs, EASILY gonna hit 100k within 3 months from now if you keep up the consistency

Found this chanel yesterday, and I love it! You have inspired me so much with these videos, and this one in particular made me smile. Linoone deserves all the love.
Talking about Linoone, what about a video beating Emerald using only normal types? Spinda, Exploud and the rest could be interesting to see in action!
No idea that he is indeed the arceus of emerald version.
glad to see u not shit on linoone like almost every other person that played emerald. I've used one on my team (legitimate team member, not hm slave) every single time i played the hoenn games (excluding the remakes, don't have those).
I had a mightyena on my team without ever realizing how lackluster he was. Still kicked ass though 🤷♂️

or guts machoke, who can solo the entire game post watson while being under leveled
Guts is fucking busted lmao.
MACHOKEABITCH
But everyone knows Machamp is useful and so is Machoke. No one gives any mind to Linoone.
My machoke literally swept the fifth gym in fire red,While being 6 levels underlevele
I've never played the OG Gen 3 games but every time I used a Linoone in a playthrough, even in ORAS or currently even the Pokémon Flora Sky Rom-Hack it's a huuuge carrier of my team.
STAB Headbutt is like one of the most powerful early game moves you can get and occasional flinches are amazing to have. And because it evolves so early, you probably already have it by the time you get to the second Gym.
Really appreciate that there are more people in this world who actually recognize the potential of it.
5:32 this is where the hoenn elite 4 theme SLAPS 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Steven must be disappointed when a non extreme-speed linone destroyed his gang.
I'll be honest, I had Linoone as an HM User in my runs, but he was always on my endgame team because he had the HMs. Two of them are STAB, one lowers defense, and the last offers a solid coverage option. Even when Linoone is carrying all the traversal options, it is more of a Soldier with a Shovel than an ATV.
It’s the same story but with bibarel, don’t underestimate early route Pokémons they’re strong 💪
Also Raticate. Endeavor + Quick Attack.
@@ricksdarkness3257 guts hyper fang is insane too
In the newer games Linoone also gets Extremespeed naturally. My favorite regional rodent line.
When I played the Hoenn remakes (I was like 8) I was about to get swept by one of Norman's slaking, but my HM slave linoone was able to tank its hits while I surfed it to death.
You can't get surf before Norman tho...
@@cognito5569 maybe not surf then but I used like strength or smth lol
I love your content! Especially the runs you fail at or have to restart a lot xD Those are the ones I enjoy the most for some reason. Keep the good work. Pokemon showdown videos would be cool too
Never underestimate Linoone. I play a lot of Gen 4 random on Pokemon Showdown, and he can absolutely sweep teams with belly drum and extreme speed.
"Eyy look that Linoone is playing with his tummy, such cuteness"
"Hol'up wait a minute something ain't right"
This my “I’m an OG” proof. Been watching him solidly for a week or two, current subs 20k, here before he completely blows up.
Bibarel, linnone and guts Raticate are actually good nuzlocke encounters
Guts raticate is a great mon
Regional Normal Types are great for any run.
This is awesome! I think you've reinvigorated my desire to play Pokemon games, I had no idea you could employ so much strategy! I don't think I've ever used a berry in battle tbh
Wow, you’re in for a awakening if this is what you call strategy! 😁 this is barely a setup, not even strategy! But theres TONS of strategies and funny ways to play!
Linoone is fantastic for late-game emerald. The belly drum strat in this video works amazingly, and you can quickly grind up to high level in the Pokémon league. High level Linoones have amazing pickup tables, which can get you a bunch of rare candies if you keep a few Linoone in the back while ev training for the battle frontier. I have 6 linoones of levels 41,41,71,71,91, and 91. It didn’t take that long because they generate their own rare candies, and belly drumming the Pokémon league lets them grind up to high levels. Plus, pickup is the only way to get another earthquake TM, which I desperately need for my Salamence to help me achieve all golds in the frontier.
Bro how does this not have more views/subscribers?? Phenomenal content keep it up man!!
A little later in generations but my favorite lead Pokemon in showdown is a gluttony Snorlax holding one of those 50% heal berries with belly drum, recycle, brick break and fire punch. Was able to level practically any Pokemon in its way if it doesn't get ko'ed after the first couple turns. The berry is a free reset to 100% health since gluttony activates on half HP and recycle is the equivalent of a recover. It's so much fun to sweep with.
This is awesome! I love giving new purpose to otherwise disregarded Pokémon. One of the reasons I love gen 2 and Pokémon colosseum because they aren’t the best stat Pokémon, but it makes strategy that much more interesting. Great video im literally gonna try this against my friend in a link battle haha.
The picture of the muskrat with the tagline a tale of struggle, excellence, and triumph made me laugh thanks
This gave me more newfound respect for Linoone. I always like Linoone as a mon during my Hoenn journeys, but never knew how to use its Belly Drum properly, especially in AS when I played without potions. This definitely clarify its proper use (First time discovering Substitute). Thanks FlygonHG!
This is an absolute banger of a video my man!!
You know, when I first started playing pokemon Ruby, I often used Linoone on my team's. Not just as an HM slave, but also as a semi-competent battler as well.
So it's real nice to see that boy get some love.
I just wanna say I had 2 Linoones (didn’t know about dupes clause) on my main team in my first ever Nuzlocke. One was a main team member, which ended up dying, and one was an HM slave - an HM slave that saved the run by outspending and dealing final chip on Metagross, and just generally always dealt massive damage. Add to the list that it was always a tanky, reliable pivot, and yeah, Linoone would be my absolute favorite normal type if not for Snorlax.
love this video, and your channels content over all, but after trying this in testing theres a few key things i think the video should really note.
1) if your linoone is a minus speed nature and has poor ivs/ev's, drake's mence and flygon can outspeed you. (lost just lost my emerald trashlocke after flygon breaking my sub and mence killing my linoone and me being a melon to realize that if flygon outspeeds then mence probably will too
2) further testing from a different save has shown me that wailord has a chance to use blizzard instead of rain dance on turn two, which can also kill your linoone. i feel that personally there has to be a better strat than the one in the video that is more reliable, but alas i am not knowledgeable enough on gen 3 battle AI to tell you what it'd be.
overall great video, and a linoone can pretty much do everything you said, but when the stakes are high in a nuzlocke, someone should be able to know that there is stills chance for some things to go wrong
You have to respect every 420 base stat poke
As a person who loved linnone all his time being a pokemon fan.
*_Thank you_*
This video just popped up randomly for me and it was well worth the watch. Awesome video!
this HAS to be the most amazing pokemon video out there. NO QUESTION
Nice video, linoone is such a cool pokemon
I remember playing with a friend… using pokemon from the first route… and it was then i found out how crazy was… especially when u can intimidate down ur opponents and dustox learns protect toxic and light screen… i thought the run would be difficult but so much easier than expected
I’ve binged all of your videos and you’re becoming my favourite poketuber! You’re videos are so well put together, you crack jokes every once in a while but don’t overdue it, and you have a great commentating voice. So many poketubers literally sound like they’re screaming at you and it just gives me headaches lol. Stay awesome and keep this quality content coming! You’ll get popular in no time... In my most recent Ruby nuzlocke, my Zigzagoon died pretty early on and I was devastated. Great ability in pickup (especially because of my arbitrary rule that I can’t buy healing items, but can use them), super versatile move pool, and also really cute. RIP Kyle, you’ll never be forgotten.

I have tested this multiple times .. it's actually not that unlikely that the AI goes for an damaging move. Also the Wailord can crit you first turn and with bad natures the Milotic and Walrein will survive.
Ya know I just discovered your videos a few days ago whilst browsing the recommended (congrats cause all mine is usually law and order) and now I have found this. All my years of playing gen 3 (it and gen 2 being my all time favs and most played out of all the games) I’ve done exactly the stereotypical “box the linoone or hm slave it”. Linoone after setting up Substitute and Belly Drum: Get your brooms out, it's time to sweep
Sick new pfp my man!
Good video man
This was a treat to watch.
My battle tower team starts with Linoone but for a different reason: Trick. Just Trick your choice band onto the opponent, Charm if you happen to have another turn, faint/switch to Ninjask. Ninjask can alternate Protect + Substitute to stall out any AI move (with leftovers). Set up Harden if you have the time and when the opponent is completely out of moves, baton pass to Rhydon. Keep up Substitute, Set up 3x Swords Dance and sweep with EQ + HP Rock. Linoone is great in many ways :D.
I love linoone, glad it’s getting the love it deserves here :]
Try doing pokemon black 2 but only grass types hard-core nuzlocke, it'd be a very tough challenge😎
This is really well put up video! I really like how you bring up more overlooked Pokemon in videos like this and during your playtroughs!
This video made me decide to actually use obstagoon in my shield nuzlocke. Fantastic videos, keep it up!
Your content is way too good to only be at 1K subs man

if anyone else did this, they would probably clickbait,, and i thought this is a clickbait but still watched anyway about what you were going to talk about but this is actually good and no clickbait-,, deserves the subs
3:43-3:46 Zigzagoon also learns Substitute as an egg move, so you can teach it that way as well.
The Zigzagoon line is even better in Ruby and Sapphire, which have different Pickup mechanics. With six Zigzagoon/Linoone in your party, you have a 6% chance of getting a Rare Candy after every battle. While it's unlikely you'll get 6 Zigzagoon/Linoone in a nuzlocke, it's probably the best strategy in casual play. At the start of the game, catch five or six Zigzagoon, and leave them in your party and check for rare candies after each battle.
just came across this channel and i love what im seeing! subbed right away, keep up the good work :)
