Loce your Ingrid sweater! The blue lacy sweater is so pretty. My suggestion for buttons is a grey shell button, perhaps abalone shell that has blue tonrs. The leather button looks too heavy and sporty fir all that beautiful lace. Two sources I use for buttons is Maker's Mercantile and Mood in NYC.
Good morning and thank you. Yes I’m starting to feel the same way about the leather buttons. I went into Ravelry to see what others have used and I’m starting to think buttons in a similar color to the yarn. Thanks for the buttons sources!! Happy knitting 🧶 ❤
Hello Diane! What a lovely episode! Your knitting is superb as usual ❤️. Thank you for the great tip about knitting the first round flat, then joining in the round to avoid twisting. You are so clever. I’m excited for your upcoming episode about naturally dying yarn. I have 3 skeins of the Knit Picks Stroll Sport - Bare. I bought it for a colorwork sweater, but I want to try dying some of it with natural foliage. Thank you for another amazing episode! Take care my friend.🥰
Hello Bobbi, wonderful to hear from you and thank you. I hope you’re enjoying your summer. I love all your summer tee knits. Yes, dyeing yarn will be a new experience. Happy knitting 🧶❤️
I’m so glad your podcast popped up in my feed. I loved it and honestly for me the background noise was barely noticeable. My fall/winter plans right now are the Oatmeal sweater by Kutovakika and the Urania cardigan by Sari Nordlund.
It’s so beautiful where you live. Thanks for sharing it with us. I like the brown leather buttons with the beautiful blue cardigan. I can see it with leather boots and your one leather belt(horse shoe). Your choice for your mother goes so well with her skirt. Thanks for your videos. I always enjoy them.
Good morning Susan and thanks for your input regarding the buttons. It's a beautiful cool morning and the thought of wearing boots and my leather belt sounds lovely!!! Happy knitting 🧶❤
Love, love the cardigan. That blue is gorgeous. Also love seeing views of Block Island. My twin and I are turning 60 in November and we’re planning on going back to the place where we grew up, Rhode Island! We left after the blizzard of ‘78 and I’ve been back but my brother hasn’t been back. We’ll probably stay in either Bristol or Newport since we both love seafood.
Good morning, wow the blizzard of ‘78 that was crazy! No wonder you left 😂. I was living with my parents in Portsmouth and because our neighborhood was surrounded by fields and nurseries we had snow drifts that went over the rooftops! The plows couldn’t make it up our road and people were getting around on snowmobiles. Fortunately our family and neighborhood came together to help each other shovel and then ultimately many snowball fights! Thanks for watching and I hope your return to RI is memorable and fun!
So lovely. Every time I see the Ingrid sweater, especially in the light colour, my heart just skips a beat, it’s so lovely. I love the leather buttons with your cardigan, I never would’ve thought of that but is soon as you held it up I thought it looked lovely. The lines in the button just harmonise with the lines in the knitting. Thanks for sharing, happy knitting 🥰
Hi Diane, this was my first visit to your podcast. I enjoyed all your knitting projects and looking forward to seeing your mom in the lovely skirt and beautiful lavender tee. I also bought the Daughters of Nantucket. An enjoyable read/listen(audiobook)as I work on my Esther Jacket. I learned how to do the double knit band on my Leith cardigan earlier this year. Cant wait to listen to your previous podcasts. Thanks for sharing.
That blue is a great color for you! Another wonderful episode! I just love what you share, it quiets my mind like a big sigh 😊. I’m going to check my lavender! It’s 95 here in Southern California today, I’m sure it’s pretty dry lol. I’m swatching for the “Cognac” sweater. I’m going to use a Zakami Baby Suri Alpaca Silk in “Serenade” fall colors. Trying to figure out a color to hold it with. I’m so done with summer heat, and we will still be warm in October. Your island looks so neat! Thank you for sharing and the time you give us ❤
Good morning Julie and thank you for watching my channel. Wow, I do hope you get some cooler weather soon. I love the sound of the project you're working on and I must try Suri Alpaca Silk.
Thank you for a lovely podcast! Love your beautiful knitting projects. I always learn so much from you, and you are one of my top 5 knitting podcaster. Have a great weekend.
I love your cardigan! That pattern is gorgeous. Have you thought about pewter buttons? They would be a little fancier than the leather. Way back in the olden days Windsor Button stores were in the malls with hundreds of little button drawers…I miss them.😢
Good morning Sue and thank you. I actually have quite a few sets of pewter buttons (antique) that my mom gave me. I will see how they look with the cardigan. Happy knitting 🧶 ❤
Hi Diane what a lovely treat seeing you tonight. As ever your knitting is so beautiful.I love the colour of your cardigan. When Dave takes the photos of your Ingrid sweater it would be lovely to see you wearing the cardigan too.Your Mum is going to look gorgeous in her new outfit the colour you have chosen is perfect for her skirt.I love your enthusiasm for life and nature, you are an inspirational woman.Take care and have a wonderful rest of August 🧶🌺
Good morning Elaine and thank you!! Yes, I'll have Dave do a photo shoot 😂, it is so funny when we take photos, it's soooo out of our skill set and comfort zone. We have to laugh! I'll have to take some photos of mom in her outfit as well. Take Care and happy knitting 🧶❤
glad i found your podcast. love your Ingrid! Actually, love all your projects. that long coat is amazing. Like the brown leather button for the Olive Cardigan - it's beautiful! I saw someone put small plain buttons on the back to secure the larger button on the front from flopping around......love your lavender. so many great ideas and tips. like the kniting before joining....thank you
Hello Diane. My jaw hit the floor when you said you have not blocked your sweaters. Your knitting is superb and it’s not even blocked. 🤩 Thanks for sharing your talents and expertise. Your videos are always a delight.
Hello Diane. I just found your podcast , thank you. Your knitting is so beautiful. Your tour around Block Island brings me back… I spent every summer in Narragansett, Point Judith and Galilee. I only had the pleasure of going to Block Island once when my children were small. How magical the island is.
Hi Bonnie, thanks for watching and thanks for the suggestion regarding buttons. I am starting to think a similar color blue or clear button may be the best choice. I won’t have to make my jewelry or clothing etc. match. So …….. Happy knitting ❤🧶
Good morning and thank you! Yes, the double band is very time consuming and worth the result. When I tackle my coats button band I think I'll put a good movie on as a distraction from the tedium 😂
Hi Diane, thank you for another lovely episode.. Block Island looks beautiful. You are such a brilliant knitter I wish mine looked as neat and I could knit as fast as you.. please persevere with your coat, I am very interested to see the finished garment.. I think the leather buttons will look lovely on your cardigan. Take care
My first time visiting. I love your podcast. I'm really intrigued by the coat that you are working on. I'd love to see more about it? DO you have it featured in your earlier videos?
Hi,I’m so glad you found my channel! Yes,the coat is special, if only I could finish it 🥹I do feature it in episode 11 named The Island Lamb Winter knits, Enchanted Forest hike. I also plan to talk about it again in the next episode. Wish me luck on the button band 🧶❤️
I will certainly pick up the Women of Nantucket book. I spent 30 years there with my family. Volunteered at the historical society. It’ll be interesting to read. Thank you for your suggestion.
Hello Diane - what a treat to see you here this evening ( Saturday evening in Cumbria, England). Loved the walk with you and in particular the Indian graveyard. Your mum’s jumper is going to be ultra perfect with the skirt. I would prefer buttons in a similar colour to the cardi. The reason ( for me) is that the cardi is so pretty and looks delicate. The dark buttons seem too harsh against the lovely pattern. But that is only my preference. I haven’t decided what to knit this autumn but loved your sock so may need to buy some wool to knit a Christmas pair.🎄 See you soon and have a great August. X
Good morning Jill, wonderful to hear from you and happy you enjoyed the walk. Thanks for your input regarding the buttons, I think I'll pay a visit to my LYS and see what they have to choose from. They always have a good selection. Happy sock knitting 🧶🧶
Good morning Sheri and thanks for watching! It's a cool clear morning and perfect for knitting. I hope you have something fun on your needles! Happy knitting ❤🧶
Good morning, and thanks for the great tip. I’ll share that in my next episode. The humidity was so high that even our hardwood floors were sticking. Happy knitting 🧶 ❤
I love all the FO you shared as well as WIP. Your mother will look lovely in that outfit! That lavender is just the shade I’ve been searching for! I’m wanting to make the No Frills Cardi by Petite Knit and have been mulling my color choices! I’m now leaning toward that lavender! It’s either that or Olive Knits Ice Blue. Thank you for sharing! Oh and I’m def going to read your book as well!
Hi Christy and thanks for watching my channel! I’m definitely going to look through the Petit Knit library of patterns. So many things to knit 😂 Happy knitting 🧶 ❤
Hi Diane, thanks so much for sharing… your island looks fabulous. I enjoyed your podcast for the first time today and your sweaters are gorgeous, I may have to make that Olive V-neck🤗 I did make a sweater by kutovakika called salty days in a denim merino that is similar to your petite knit and love it!! Also thank you for sharing your lavender, I also have a large row of lavender in my garden and you have motivated me to process it, I will take a peek at you video doing that. And lastly I do love historical fiction and will be looking for the daughters of Nantucket, if I can pull myself away from knitting long enough to get back to a good book, haha… I’m a bit addicted to my sweaters. Best wishes to you and happy knitting, I will look for you again💕
Good morning and thank you! I love Kutovakika’s podcast. I’ve been meaning to make one of her designs. Yes it’s hard to put down the knitting! Sometimes I listen to an audio book so I don’t have to 😂. Happy knitting 🧶 ❤

Can't wait to wear it this fall. By the way the brown buttons on the blue sweater looks great!

Thanks for the tour i’ve been meaning to take the ferry over for years
Good morning Terry and thanks for watching. I hope you do make a trip over to the island!
With blocking, the weather doesn’t matter. So many people think they need dry weather. What you need is a breeze. So a fan works best.
Good morning, and thanks for the great tip. I’ll share that in my next episode. The humidity was so high that even our hardwood floors were sticking.
Happy knitting 🧶 ❤

WOW lots of knitting going on!! The blue cardigan in my new favorite and I can't wait to see Mom in that outfit!! A perfect match.
Thank you dear friend! ❤
You just showed the gray and black and white one from Reynolds! that is the one I’m going to be knitting!
Good morning, wow that’s amazing!! Do you have your yarn?
I’ll be ordering soon from Webs
Me too!!!!
Another lovely episode. I paused to borrow the audio book from my library - great suggestion. I was on Nantucket for the first time in June and recently visited New Bedford Whaling Museum so very topical for me. As for buttons - if you wear gold accessories more I'd use a gold or brass button. ( I'd do a silver as I wear silver jewelry mostly - you get the picture.) Block Island thru your lens seems wonderful - you should schedule a knitting retreat!!!!
Good morning and thank you! I thinking having been to Nantucket will make the read even better, enjoy! Thanks for your input on the buttons, the sweater is blocking and I’m looking forward to having it on soon. Happy knitting 🧶 ❤
Thank you for all the information and great knitting!! Instead of the Olive cardigan we did the Elah cardigan as a group knit at Wild Knits (store in Salem Oregon). Very similar but only the pattern in the front; first top down for me and now love top down.....The front band is knitted contiguous so no picking up stitches and just love the outcome. Can't wait to wear it this fall. By the way the brown buttons on the blue sweater looks great!

Great episode again 🍀🍀🍀🇦🇺
Good morning and thank you!
Love the brown buttons!
I Deb and thanks!!
Hi Diane
I have watched every single one of your episodes and enjoy them so much. Wondering if you remember in which episode you showed a book of Japanese stitches and some swatches you made from it. I'd like to do the same and would like to watch that episode again.
Your knitting viewer, Rose Ann
Hi there and thank you!!! It was episode 18 where I mentioned the Japanese Stitch book. Wonderful resource. Happy knitting 🧶 ❤
Thank you for such a quick reply and the info I was hoping to receive. Happy knitting to you too!@@theislandlamb
Buttons on your blue sweater. The brown is OK. I think you need to consider what you will be wearing the sweater with. If you have a black belt for instances then maybe black would be better. However, I would go with colour matching buttons or clear buttons that will show the colour of the wool through them.
Yes, I’m starting to think about a same color button. Thanks for your input. Happy knitting 🧶 ❤
Enjoy your podcasts but a lot of very loud background noise this time. Love your blue cardigan. I agree with your cousin.about the buttons.
Good morning Linda and thank you. Yes, I planned the timing to avoid the regular scheduled flights, however because of all the weather we had a lot more unschedule flights. Also, my neighbor decided to do some yard work. Sooooo, I did try to edit out the background noise. I think if I had used my EarPods that might have worked. I will try to remember to use my EarPods next time. Thanks for putting up with it this time. Happy kitting 🧶❤

Is a dropped stitch the same as a slipped stitch?…Thank you. I enjoy your videos!
Good morning Kathie and thanks for watching. It is a dropped stitch. At the beginning of the stocking knit part of the pattern there are some yarn overs and when the piece is finished I believe we will drop the coordinating stitch all the way down. Sounds both scary and fun, stay tuned. Happy knitting 🧶❤
Beautiful! Where do you find all of those vintage Reynolds Lopi pamphlets?
Good morning and thank you! I believe I purchased the patterns at a beloved store that has been out of business for many years called “The Fabric Place”. It was in Warwick, RI. They were well stock with yarn, patterns fabric, sewing machines etc. They came before Joanne’s and not quite the same. The staff were knitters, quilters, sewists, etc.. My mom and I loved going there, and Dave would take me and drop me off while he went grocery shopping! What a guy. Can you tell how much I miss that place. They carried Reynolds’s yarn, Berocco, Premier, and so many others. They had the patterns and books displayed by the yarn. It was a huge store yet easy to navigate. I bought fabric to make slipcovers, oh… memories.
@@theislandlamb I hear you! We had a place on the south shore in Mass called Safflers back in the day. It was an old barn with two floors packed with all fiber art supplies. I have several pamphlets of old patterns from there but no Lopi…when you could buy a pamphlet with 6 patterns for $3 to $5. Ah, a girl can dream! 🧶😊
:)
Hi Diane. I am in Block Island for next 3 weeks on my boat. Would you like to meet and knit?
Hi, how lovely! I’m off island for a few day and the. I’ll be back on island. I’d love to meet you and sit and knit!!!
Good morning I’m back on island. Want to get together for coffee and knitting tomorrow morning?
How about tomorrow afternoon? Or I can meet Sunday or Monday morning.
Tomorrow afternoon sounds good. Where would you like to meet?
How about 1:00 at Persephone's?
Button is too tailored/sporty for that beautiful lacy sweater…go with MOP. IMHO😎
Hi and thanks for your input regarding the button. Happy knitting 🧶 ❤
A shame about all the noise, including the tractor or truck.
I know, I’m so sorry. It started out a beautiful quiet morning. Next time I’ll be more aware.
You are such a wonderful knitter!!
