- BIG CHANGES are in store for the 2022 Mini Cooper S, On the outside you will find and all new front fascia, grill, wheels, rear bumper and roof. On the interior you will be greeted to a new steering wheel, dash, and standard across all trims 8.8in infotainment system. Under the hood you will find a 2.0L turbocharged inline-4 that is producing 189HP & is mated to either a 6-speed manual or 7-speed DCT. What are the MAJOR changes for the NEW 2022 Mini Cooper S?

I smile everyday while behind the wheel of mine…I have owned many different types of cars from lowly little Corsa and Yaris…to BMW 5 series and Mercedes E class ….and I kid you not …none make me smile or have been as engaging to drive as the two minis I have had….The BMW was a fabulous Car …but not Fun in the same way as my Minis ..

I’ve been driving a 2015 Cooper S for many years now. I beat the shit out of this car daily and drive it like I stole it. It takes all my abuse and has never complained. This has been a great reliable car and has served its purpose well…

The very very coolest thing about this is that almost every vent is GENUINELY functional. Sadly i have to say not many companies can match that with their sport trims.

Great video, never looked at a Mini until we were looking at cars for my daughter and found one on a Subaru lot. One drive and she was in love. And honestly I kind of enjoy it too even if the suspension is a touch rough for Jersey roads.
How in 2022 can BMW still have any cars without Android Auto? Mind boggling, the amount of work it required to add it to my daughter's 13 was nuts, but I understood not having it back then.

Bought the Cooper S their first year here in 2003,. My kid was playing travel hockey so we went all over the place, but the Manuel transmission is the only way to go for the full Mini Cooper experience!
A lot of people zonk Minis, once you own one you’ll understand how fun they are to drive. And economical!
I bought a 2022 MINI Cooper S two months ago. I really enjoyed your video and found myself nodding my head on many of your points including the head-up display, the steering wheel (I'm going to swap it out for a JCW wheel when they have them), I do miss extra fog lights. I'm 6' 7" and I feel very comfortable in this car. The car is fun, fun, fun! And that's what it's all about IMO. :)

Glad to have you out again! Just a couple of corrections... the torque is 208 lb ft. The 162 lb ft quoted is for the 3 cylinder turbo found in the Cooper. Also, the smaller JCWs are 228 go. The 301 HP engine is only in the Clubman and Countryman JCW, as well as last year's GP. Lastly the 2 Door Hardtop JCW is available in manual transmission.
My fiance has a Mini Cooper base and I find myself driving her car more as it is a little car that always makes me happy anf puts a smile on my face.

Great review, as always. But traditional scones here in the UK are either fruit (raisins/currants/cherries) or plain!! You can also get savoury cheese scones but the scone to have with a cup of tea is fruit or plain with lashings of clotted cream and jam.

The JCW 2-door is 228 hp, and has manual transmission as standard. The JCWs that sre over 300 hp without the manual transmission are the Clubman and the Countryman.
My personal ‘zonk’ is that it is a DCT. That said, the usual top notch review from you guys 👍🏼👍🏼.

Great thing about the S models is you can add a few mods to make it similar to the John Cooper Works spec, and should equal to about the same in price. Plus you can keep that 6 speed manual!

with just a suspension upgrade, tires, and ecu tune prolly will beat 1
@Null not much maybe changing the suspension for less body roll and then doing ecu tune to get about 30 more hp from the engine is about 800 -1000 depending on what you get and depending on who does your suspension
The way the front grill looks kind of reminds me of a gtr like design in a way. Idk if anyone else thinks that but i definitely like it a lot.

I test drove a 2021 Mini and I fell completely in love with it. Though I do prefer the looks of the 2021. The front on the 2022 is funny looking to me... Like a mini bulldog or a mini bar 'stache lol.

Cute lil mini with giant G-shock watch 😁 dashboard. Pretty spacious for a small car. Gotta love dct, re-flash the chip and dyno it u can get 200-210hp with that 2.0L engine.👍
Such a great little fun car. My nephew had a MK2 S with a manual gearbox and it was a blast to drive. 3dr Cooper S with a manual is the way to go

1st time seeing a Raiti's Rides review. Excellent. We've had our '22 S Signature for a month. Love it. Wish it had a power driver's seat, tilting curb view mirror and blind spot warning (not available). But, given we found it on the lot the first day we visited the dealer, we are very happy with our decision. Will hit the "subscribe" button now. Great job!

about lack of tle fog lighth, it is not about better led lamps, it's about cutting costs, less material, faster production, simpler elements to assemble in the end more money for bmw

The reason the original Mini's were so successful was the combination of affordable and reliable, neither of things apply to the new Mini's. That being said I like them but would never spend the money on one. Another great Video Joe and Lori!

Had one of these in the mid-2000's. Slot car handling that is quite stunning and surprising. You'll do a whole lot of grinning on your first mountain switchback. Expect instantaneous reaction to any steering input. Is it ever precise, or what! As a daily driver, the S can be tiring because, like a slot car, the ride is harsh. (JCW is really rough).
It is NOT comparable to the Miata which matches Mini precision, but adds smoothness, slickness and gives the driver much more confidence.
I loved my MINI, but I'm still in love with my old Miata.

Great review, but the JCW is not 300hp, it is 228hp. The Mini GP is 306hp UK. Spec. All minis have a transverse engine layout, not an inline. Sorry to point these things out, because I really enjoyed your review and your enthusiasm.

Just picked up a 22. My 3rd Mini S., My model, has the standard radio. Was wanting the premium sound, but is it essential with a small cabin? The standard radio does a good job. My only frustration is you have to get the top package with navigation to have Apple Carplay. Disappointing! My wife's 23 Mazda CX-30 does not have navigation, but Mazda still provided a screen where you could use Apple CarePlay if desired. Otherwise, I am loving my Mini!
Hello. How are you liking your Mini so far? Did you have any concerns about its long term reliability before purchasing? Has it been reliable so far? I saw a 2023 Mini Cooper S on Autotrader and deeply considering getting it. It’s my dream car, but there are some nay sayers due to its past models.
Wow...that Union Jack in the tail lights looks sweet. The “pop tart” storage is a bummer. Strawberry Pop Tarts can be yummy...but the door pocket HAS to be bigger!

I find it interesting mini still has the windshield washer nozzle on the hood still. Most of the brands out there hide it under the hood. Mini is still going old school leaving it on the hood

Just as a heads up the 2 door JCW has a horsepower of 228, not 301. The Clubman and Countryman come with a JCW that has 301 horsepower. I wish the 2 door did. Thanks
This, Mazda 3 Turbo premium plus or Golf GTI SE? (about the same price all 3) I love this outside, like the touch in a coming MK8 and Mazda3 seems the most optimal with design, cost of owning and despite not having any touch elements, offers a good level of tech.

"The gear indicator is very very small." Located near the ginormous fuel gauge that's about 6x bigger than it needs to be.

Needed to replace internal chain driven camshafts with external belts and pulleys. Oil level not kept at max will cause failure of chain tensioners. Tensioners are plastic?

The biggest question is... does the power icon on the volume knob stay upright now or does it still turn with it?
i love my 2013 mini cooper s convertible but the 2022 i think it's over price for today market , look at the 400z , the is300, g70, they all in the mid 30's but then again great video keep up the good cars
The GP is the one with over 300hp and only optional with an auto. JCW has 230 and you can get a manual or auto

how does this feel traveling over a windy bridge ? Sometimes high gust winds over a bridge makes my drive uncomfortable ( with a small size car )
