You are correct. The lyrics roughly means good luck hope your next relationship goes well but you left me with all the pain that what I learned from the translations online. So yes you are right they mean Peace out and good luck.

It's to do with something like in the middle ages. Apparently, British soldiers were the best at archery, so the French at the time cut there two fingers off (the index and the middle finger). They then did that gesture to them to mock them or something like that. That's why its considered vulgar in the UK. My friend told me about it when I asked about it, he's into history a lot. But yeah, hope that explains it ^.^
