Did I miss anything? Let me know!
The old man 0 0 1 didn’t get killed bc he was the first vip
"The bodies are getting cremated" uhm it didn't hint anything, it's a korean culture.
Pictures on the wall are showing all games in the order
@@fragileword6189 it did hint something, they and us do not know it is a life or death game. (Unless u know the plot)
The old man did still have the locks on. U should go bacc & look at the scene, frame by frame. Locks were on the whole time....
Ali's death was so heartbreaking. His kindness and trust that killed him. I knew he will die eventually but the way he died was heartbreaking.
Yea ikr..he was my fav..along with the two girls. 😭
And also Hi levi Huehueheueu
Yess sadly:( hoping a glimmer of hope that gihun would at least help his family in season 2

@@nono-i-u7c 🤡
Lol 😆 🤣 😂
you know how the woman who got “cheated on” by the criminal got to just sit out of the marbles game and move on to the next game? i think that position was meant to be for il-nam.
1- when everyone was trying to find a partner, il-nam sat by himself and didn’t try to find a partner at all
2- this way would’ve been the easiest way to fake his death so that he wouldn’t have had to play the glass game
That is actually very true. He didn't make an effort at all to find a partner, as if he wasn't supposed to
but it was suppose to be even games it was only uneven because they killed the doctor before they should had planned for him to not die at the marbles game
@@Mailb0x1 the man in the black mask knew what the doctor and the others were doing with the organs of the dead participants, so I believe they were going to find a way to kill him sooner or later.
@@tefania00 yeah but I am just saying the way he died could have been planed long before and that he wouldn't have been picked would just be another way of getting him killed. well he did say later that none is going to pick him because he is so weak and old also. maybe they would just kill someone for some arbitrary reason.
Ah not bad :D
One detail I noticed was that some of the players thought that there would be multiple winners. At first, you would either think its a catch or really hope for that ending. But when the detective went to the archives, it showed that there was always just one winner. This makes it even sadder when the players keep pushing the idea of "winning together".
There could be multiple winners the last game squid game is played in teams and you can have multiple players per team
@@xblade11230 For all we know, they could just play multiple rounds of Squid Game until there's only 1 standing. If Offense wins, they just draw again to select a new Defender.
@@AnimeNut if you watch them play it in episode 1 during the flashback they were playing 5 v 5 the game is like football you need to either go through the center and fight 1 v 1 or you could go around the center but you have to do it hopping on one leg
I would assume most games end with 1 winner because the game automatically ends if there is just 1 player left he automatically wins
Meaning if there's a total wipe during any of the 5 nights, or 5 games leaving one left that person becomes the winner
Yeah, so it was inevitable that the one chick would be betrayed by her man. He was an asshole and deserved it though.
I think there could have been multiple winners, but it was highly unlikely that would happen, since the games (and other things like the riot) seemed specifically designed to whittle the numbers down as much as possible. I think they partly needed that to happen to raise the stakes on the glass bridge game. I'm pretty sure there were 13 rows of panels on that bridge, so with 16 people, barring unforeseen incidents of the players killing one another and not breaking enough panels, the last 3 players would be almost guaranteed to win at the very least, provided they didn't run out of time or fall behind the others and lose track of where they had been
The reason that the old man "faked his death" is because he still wanted to play his childhood favourite games but the glass hopping game was too dangerous because anyone could just push him off and the guards couldn't control who did what. So that's why he purposefully lost the marbles game.
The reason he went out on "Marbles" was planned from the beginning. It was because the next game was the first game that the VIPs would be there for and he was to host them.
@OG well they still could have done 18 people instead of 17
Same shit on tug of war too. Yet he played with so many women on the team. Il nam is the goat !
No, i think it’s because of his dementia and he couldn’t remember which one to choos
@@bellyacee3759 he did that in purpose iguess
I’m just glad Ali got to take care of his family before he met his demise.
@@aren2naga92 huh
Ali lived
@@reedabrat1165 I wasn’t even gonna reply to the weirdo lmao
@@gxgardenterprise9705 what??
Yeah but I don't think was too much money ! Maybe was 10 thousand dollars or something
Another sad thing people miss in the marbles game is Ji yeong's sacrifice. She sacrificed herself because she has nothing to come back to after the game, but actually, she did have a reason which is to go to Jeju island and other places with Sae-byeok. She gets excited to finally have something to look forward to but immediately remembers that only one of them survives the marbles game. It makes the scene much more sad because she finally found a reason to live but it will never happen.
Why are you trying to make me cry
Oh man, just don't remind us. It's still heartbreaking even I'm just reading your comment. Let's just appreciate the good acting and scene. 😟
Nah don't think so
@S O F I A bruh
That's all anyone is talking about when it comes to Ji-yeong, I dont think anyone missed this detail.
Gi-hun swore on his mother's life and so at the end of the series, his mother died. 😢
Yooooooo that's a good point!
I noticed this on my second watch :(
Yooooo that's crazy
But then she didnt? I didnt get that part
@@ifolop1249 he found her dead
The director actually said in an interview that the symbolism behind Gi Hun's red hair is his fury and anger. He doesn't respect the games and is furious that they took place. He's ready to try and shut them down and take revenge on those who caused all those deaths. It's pure rage
This would have made more sense if he wasn't given the choice to leave the game and never return
@@JohnDoe-gc1kt Exactly! I want to feel bad but all the people who came back knew what they were getting into. If anything I feel bad for the ones that died during red light green light. They didn't know.
@@JohnDoe-gc1kt I agree, I loved watching this show and thought it was really excellent but when you pull it apart there's a bunch of things I don't understand and find don't make much sense
@@ZanyMei I think it rather highlights how desperate they are. Let's not forget the fact that the people who made squid game made sure to look for participants they _knew_ were in no position to refuse -- all to just be 'entertained.' Yes, the participants were aware of what they were getting into, but they also knew the reality they'd have to face if they didn't.
@@bonbuns_ true. Some of them were but I'm not sure all of them were. The ones who were going to be killed if they didn't pay up then yeah. However, I feel like a lot of it had to do with greed. They saw all that money and a lot of people instantly were okay with playing the game. So the ones that did it solely for greed are the real ones not to feel sorry for. At the end of the day they should of never acquired that much debt to begin with. This coming from a person who has a dad addicted to gambling and had a crappy life because of it. Alteast my dad knew not to borrow money from shady people just to gamble.
I'm just so shocked how this series is designed with all of these hidden details, 10 years of doing it, was extremely worth.
It's Work Done Between 2008 to2009 Just Because Of Budget Of Director They Won't Released It
@@XBeats_96 What? Also that was when the draft of the script was finalized and it took years to get the show accepted and approved.
@@littlebigdragon313 You Fool He Is Talking About Time Taken By Director To Complete This Whole Story Ok
It took ten years because he never got excepted
@@tokyotaka2930 For Writting It Only Tooked 2/4 years👍
I definitely noticed during the first game that the old man seemed to be having fun while everyone else was terrified or super focused. I didn't think too much of it though, I thought maybe his adrenaline had just kicked in and he felt confident. They still really got me with that ending.
Old guy is dying from a tumor in his brain, so why not have fun with the games, try and win, or die doing what you love
Same this whole time I thought he really had dementia so that’s the reason for him smiling and forgetting stuff. Hella fooled me. I screamed at the tv like bruh wtf he was alive and behind it. Such a good fucking show
I just thought he was a crazy old man with dementia
@핑크 그는 그 노인이 그의 첫 경기에서 많은 재미를 느끼고 있다는 것을 확실히 알아차렸고 이것이 치매라고 생각했고, 그것은 이것을 언급한 남자를 속였다.
i thought because of the age that makr him like that 🤣🤣🤣
Another thing I noticed is that, after everyone went home from the first game, they were acting more violently. Putting a knife on people's throat, stabbing someone to death, stealing from someone and having his fingers cut, etc. It seems that, after seeing those people die in such a cruel and cold way, most participants became more cruel and cold themselves. That is partly why they came back: they were no longer as afraid of death and massacres as they were before.
Edit: Don't take this as a fact, this was just an observation 😋 Also, I said this is *partly* why they came back, not that this was the only reason they did. I'm sure the main reason they returned was because the game seemed better than their lives.
I think it’s more they remembered how utterly fucked they felt in the real world. Not to mention they learned AFTER Round 1 that everyone was worth 100 million. So it makes sense they weren’t violent before Round 1, they weren’t aware of the stakes.
not true though
"putting a knife on people's throat"
-I guess she been doing that, I mean she is a thief, most likely she's been doing that even before she join the game.
"stabbing people to death"
-he is in a gang, so what do yoy expect???
"stealing from someone"
-thats Ali's money and its all accident
Nice observation
@@MichaelDelfin0 Correct! people need to stop overthinking
I'm never getting over the marbles episode. Crying all round, it was so devastating.
Hold me
I cried a lot too
About the old man dying I wouldn’t cry because the old man created the game
Stop thinking this much it's just a show
@@devendullarwar8555 ik but its sad
The way players got shot in marbles game shows how they lost. Ali got shot in the back because he was backstabbed and Jiyoung got shot from the side as if committing suicide because she gave up
Ohhh right ! 🤔
dam
Oooh that's good. Haven't heard that yet
And the guy who was playing with Deok-su (the thug) got riddled with bullets because he was absolutely annihilated in their game.
Her speech before dying made me cry so hard.
I think the reason why the old man voted to cancel the game is because he wanted to show the people how they’re lives are the same as worse out there so they can come back
As he said in the end, he didn't want people to play against their will, so I think he pressed the red button to give them the chance to go home. You could see the sadness in his face though seeing how many people didn't like his game, as he genuinely believed people should be bored of life
I was also thinking the same! Either way their situation is hell, so letting them go back to reality was a sure way to get majority of them to come back to the games and not have them complain. Some people weren't assss desperate to get the prize money, especially seeing how many people were dying but for others, the game gave them more hope than society. I think the game is structured this way because they know that humans are predictable so they based a lot of the game's premise on psychology (i.e., giving them small rations of food to agitate the players and turn on their survival mode, form alliances etc).
No crap
He believed they would be back because he didn't believe people were good anymore.
Thanks for pointing out the obvious
Out of all the moments in squid game, Ali's death was easily the saddest for me.
and the other girl
@@homielander5924
The other girl had a name.
I almost cried when he layed down next to his dead mother
@@Haerinx87 relax it's not real x)
Everybody let's brings up the other girl as soon as someone mentions Ali, but not the other way around.
People are allowed to be sad over just Ali!
here's what i thought- in a way, the entire game was designed for Gi-Hun (the main character). When the salesman was playing the game with Gi-Hun in the train station, when the game ended, he told him that they didn't have a lot slots left, and that he had to hurry up. In fact, they didn't have any, and Gi-Hun was picked to be the last one to join the game.
After the first game when they all left and went back to living their old lives, the old man (Il- Nam) found Gi-Hun in the convenience store, entirely by coincidence (as they say). However, they kept saying "What are the odds?", constantly reiterating the fact that there was no way they expected to see each other again. He manipulated Gi-Hun to re-enter the game. Whereas the rest of the players had to come to terms with their realities and re-enter the game.
When Il-nam wets his bed, Gi-Hun offers him his jacket to wrap around himself to avoid the embarrassment. However, before the Marble game ended, the old man returned the jacket back to him. But he didn't give him his jacket back, instead he gave him the jacket that said 001, the jacket he owned. This could indicate the fact that Gi-Hun was going to live till the very end, as they cannot possibly eliminate player 001.
I didn’t even realize he didn’t give back the same jacket!
Damn bro, and also I thought that il-nam is Gi-Hun Father, cause at marbles game they both say that they know this place so well, and Il-Nam also said "you like my son" (idk which eps but I know il-Nam said that)
sheeshhhhhhhhh you really spittin fax out here
The last one makes no sense! Surely Il-nam gave Gi-hun his jacket instead of the Gi-hun’s jacket purely because il-nams jacket wouldn’t stink of “old man piss” as Gi-hun’s jacket was wrapped around il-nams for this reason!
Woahh this is currently blowing my mindddddddddddd...akxsiaznxsz
il-nam becoming forgetful in the marble game relates to the expression “losing your marbles,” which was very apt for the game between him and gi-hyun.
Ah good spot!
yea no i don't think that's true, the show is in korean after all and not in english lmao. though it's a funny coincidence.
he didnt forget tho, he was just acting. old dude knew exactly what was happening
@@Dannykyang1 I knew he was acting before the reveal at the end because he called the guy out on trying to trick an old man. So I took it to mean he was faking the entire marble game. I just didn't know why he would do that at the time.
@@Dannykyang1 The old man did forget 😂 he was in charge and never really in any danger of dying but he still had a brain tumor and he still had dementia.
Hwang Jun-ho, The Frontman's brother, didn't die. The Frontman intentionally shot him with a flesh wound and banked on him surviving the fall back into the water. That's why the viewers never actually see his body it's just implied that he didn't survive. Also, The Frontman is pretty thorough about cleaning up loose ends.
I 100% agree. If they wanted to make it clear to the viewer that he died, they would've!
You are r8.he shoot the gun on his left shoulder
Yeah, with how many headshots the guy pulled off with no problem or hesitation, I don't think its a coincidence that he shot his brother in the arm instead
I think this is the implication for 2 season.
yeah and also how did he come to know about the game? they didnt show gi-hun telling him about it, which cam mean that they both were together in this and maybe in second season they return
This is why the director said that he already began working on the Squid game 's script back in 2008, also making the first draft back in 2009. Look at how detailed this series! It was such a long process to create this masterpiece. And I respect how nifty he did this.
Edit : This is my opinion. I repeat. My opinion. Thanks for voicing out your opinions/comments in replies!
yes its awsome but that makes me sad cause i dont think we will get a season 2 for a while
*2009-10 Agree. Imagine this was more than a decade in the making. No wonder this series is a masterpiece 👍💯 Very refreshing to watch. Tho its so funny that some Koreans find it overrated lol
@@soonsuicidal It also took a decade from the writing point to now because the creator was constantly rejected from production companies for the series until netflix finally decided to do it
@@nickb3341 it will take a long time, but I think it's worth to wait :)
I think the script just took 1 year. It took 10 years to get the project started
all the games are painted on the walls in the main bunker room with the beds. You can start seeing them better once the players and beds are taken away towards the end, but they were there from the very beginning.
Yeah we all know this already. Look up past videos.
yup i wonder if someone is that observant as one of the players can definitely guess which games are to be played
Credit to youtube too🤣
*Lol! You just copied it from Cinema Summary.* Thief!
@@AiBkomachi I doubt it. You can say it’s easy because you are watching from a birds eye view from a place more comfortable than the players. I’m sure the trauma of the games clouded their minds of sound judgment.
Old guy said "We are Gganbu" before marbles, I think it means he was going to save Gi-hun even in case Gi-hun lost that game. Giving all 20 marbles to Gi-hun
Gihun wouldnt have lost the game cuz ilnam keeps pretending he forgot
Gi-hin did lose... grandpa just pretended memory loss to give him a chance... and even at the end he gave him back his marble despite asking to play for all ...
But that's exactly what he did... I don't understand your comment at all 😅
@@kamekazu I mean, in case old guy collected all 20 marbles, he would give Gi-hun all 20 marbles. In this drama old guy gave him only one marble (even though Gi-hun deceived old guy to get 19 marbles)
He forgor 💀
Everyone's talking about Ali's death. Ali got betrayed, that's why he lost. Y'all seemed to forget the lady who intentionally sacrificed her life in order for her partner to win. And her reasons were so deep and heartbreaking.
For me Ali was more likable than she was. Her character was annoying and she saved a character that was more likable. Even though she did a noble thing, I wasn’t into her character and didn’t care that she died. This is said based on an analysis of a movie as this isn’t real and no one really died or did anything noble.
@@msknich0le I think he is talking about those husband and wife.
are you referring to the husband and wife or the marble game when the girl admitted she killed her preacher dad?
@@Tricey.89 I'd assume they're talking about Ji-Yeong cus the husband and wife (although very cool) didn't really have that much screen time during that game so it didn't feel as deep yk
Well, the reason is simple. The shows has showed us the life of Ali before he re-enter the game. Thats why audiences feel sorry to Ali more than sorry to husband wife couples on marble episode.
As I pity Ali I cant blame his partner (forgot the name, I have trouble to remember korean name 😅) because it is survival game after all. Ali is rather very naive than kind here. I would never ever gave my marbles to anyone base on 'trust' lol.
Another one is that when the old man “dies”, after that game, the main leader of the games appears when the vips come and also has a golden mask, it’s definitely the old man
They show us that the golden mask was the old man at the end i guess you missed it 🙄
@@justwantedtocreate3525 I think he means it's a clue to the twist before it happens (the subject of the video).
@@justwantedtocreate3525 clown
It's very obvious.. Not even need to be mentioned..
@@bloomingg6319 no you and you’re like minded friends are clowns . It’s not worth mentioning if it’s a GIVEN !! Must be some teenager shouldn’t you be making some dumb video rn ?
finally, someone actually showing "5 details" that show 5 details and not a recap of the ENTIRE series
Another detail I found: When everyone went to bed to rest the night violence took place and all the players were trying to kill each other, the old man just suddenly disappeared and found a place to hide out of sight from everyone. None of the other players could do so. Given the fact that the old man was the most vulnerable person in the group, had he not hidden, he would have been easily killed by players of the opposing team. Also, it was the old man who, at the end of the riot, shouted to stop the violence as most people would end up killing each other and thus, ruining the game.
Also when he started shouting "I'm scared, I'm scared" & the security camera highlights him in the dark, there's a small triangle that shows up on the head of the old man on camera ... just before the boss with the black mask calls off the "night game"
It's a beautifull scene since everyone (the players and the viewers) believe he's just a scared old man who beg the other players to stop to kill eachother when in reallity he just order his men to stop the killings.
Everyone remembers the old man started the squid game right? He was the founder lol of course he’s going to have plot armor. II-Nam is the master mind lol
@@dominickgoodwin3532 that makes sense bc at the marble game the ppl in the suit didn't take his body away and it didnt look like he was shot
@@Michelle-qm2on Yeah that's true. While there was the gunshot, I did realize that you couldn't hear his body drop, unlike everyone else that was shot.
The best one i’ve read:
When the old man finds his house in the marble game, he says something like “my son and his friends would play here & i would hide behind this tree watching them play, they didnt know i was here.”
!!!!
ohhh shit
wtfffffff damnn, i didnt notice that
?
i felt so betrayed cuz i cried the hardest for il-ham’s “death”
Exactly the same here bud. And here I thought they didnt show his death for the same reason they don't show dogs die...
Yeah me too
Ji yeong's death was the saddest for me. Their little conversation reminded of a time my highschool friends and I would talk about our future and life in general. But in their case, it was talking about life before death. The way she brought up the conversation of what they'll be doing if they win was really a brillant move on her part. I personally would feel better knowing that the person I was giving my life for at least had a motivation to live especially if I myself don't have one.
The sunset vibes that scene also gave was amazing. I really hate sunsets even though they're beautiful.. sunsets just remind me that a fun day's about to be over, a last glimpse of the bright sky before darkness overcomes it.
The sunset combined with the street gates reminds me of the times I'd play with neighbourhood friends, the orange skies will remind you that a fun day is over and it's time to go home. These memories will forever remain as memories.
@@seurn7801 everything you said speaks to my soul. my thoughts exactly! esp the part about sunsets being bittersweet and childhood friends.
il ham??
At the last episode, he said that he makes a living by lending money
Just a theory, the old man, player 001, have multiple loan/lending businesses and the players are his customers that could not pay. That is why they know who the participants should be and knew a lot about them.
dude you a genius
Loveeee this!!
bro all these comments r good enough to make a part 3 😂
not all of them are in debt for loan companies
thats would be the plot of Kaiji then
There’s several clues throughout the show that hint 001 is 456’s father.
-When 456 refuses to drink regular milk, 001 says his son hated milk too.
-On October 24, 001 says his son’s birthday is coming soon. 456 birthday is Oct 31.
-During the marble game 001 says he lived in a similar neighborhood, 456 says so did he.
-The door of the house where 001 gets “killed” at is the same as 456’s mother’s house.
wait , hol' up
001 also said that he used to beat his son because he had the same attitude as 456.
456 birthday is April 26th...
@@reavl6494 456 birthday is oct 31, he said it in the last episode
And the marble game is the time his mother died as well 🤯
Also, when Joon-ho searched his brother’s room and found the card, it was in a black box with a pink ribbon- just like how Gi-hun got the invitation back for the second time, thus foreshadowing Hwang In-ho being the Front Man.
wait i dont get how that foreshadow's Hwang In-Ho being the front man though (sorry im kinda slow)
Same I am kind of confused
Yeah it's the same as gi hun so you'd just think he would be a player
How In-ho was involved? Any theory.. (sorry I'm slow too)
The winner of the game becomes a front man I guess
Anyone notice when Gi-Hun went back home, his facial structural along with the grey hoodie pulled over his head, matched along side the "Front Man's" as he laid fown with his Mother in final scene? To me the darkness that covered a portion of his face gives a inclination he could be the next Front Man, designing a way to "stop" the games by, creating a new games to do so. As the cycle would repeat.
Lol... Like there ain't no sense in dat ...how d hell is he going to get pass their security detail...I mean after the breach dry had with the cop...u seriously think dry ain't going to make arrangements
i mean the detective’s brother was the winner of the 2015 squid game and later went on to be the frontman, who’s to say it can’t happen again 😑?
@@ariboo13 I kinda feel like they were tying to groom him to be the next frontman. Then again what happened to the winners of 2016 and on? They didn't become the frontman. The game is held every year correct? I guess prior winners could have gone to different countries to setup new games. Would be interesting to know who/where past winners are.
This is a great analysis. Honestly, even if this was not the case, the writers should be exploring these comments to get their next season going 😅
I was rewatching with my bf and noticed when they decided to go back, we are shown the main characters getting into the van then them getting gassed, except for Il Nam. Thought that's a huge clue no ones talking about cause it happened in seconds so easy to miss
OMG yes
@KPOP FANATIC Correct me if I'm mistaken, but I think she wasn't shown waiting for the car and entering it, was she? Il Nam, however, was. There are a few shots of the old man waiting for the van along with the rest of the protagonists, and while that is followed up by showing the rest of them being gassed, the show skips Il Nam's turn entirely.
@@menoguchi They do show her waiting, but it doesn't matter that they don't show her getting gassed because they show us that she hold her breath, Il Nam just doesn't show after being waiting.
@@GuriStargin I think you're talking about Sae-Byeok, we were talking about Mi-nyeo. But yeah, Sae-Byeok was clearly gassed with the rest of the characters, even if she found a way to sidestep that.
good catch I didn't notice that, I think everyone was focused on the cop sneaking in and didn't notice
How the characters got introduced at the start to how they died is such an awesome detail!
Also, when Sang-woo (Gi-Hun's childhood friend) Was playing at the red light green light section, he was hiding behind a person's back, foreshadowing that he's going to betray someone in squid game. Because he's using other people's lives for his own benefit
@The Emperor Protects Sure i maybe over analyzing, but you can't ignore the fact that he's still using other people's lives for his own
yeah that's a big stretch bruh
i feel like gihun dyed his hair red might foreshadow that he'd end up going back to the squid game as one of the red guards, same with junho's brother, he won the game and ended up being the front man.
There's no way he'd participate in that ever again and especially not as a guard, if anything he's probably gonna try to find out where the games take place and end them
@@eternitytee3332 that's why he wants to go back as a fuard
@@deeja2009 ya I can see him going as a guard to try to sabotage the games and take the whole thing down for good but he compared that to junho's brother who's the front man and he's not doing anything to stop the games
Except tge gaurds are pink and his glhair us red wo rhat would be terrible foreshadowing
Theory. When the guy plays the slap game, he lets them choose the color of the paper that they throw. One is red and the other blue. This could determine whether you're a player or a gunman in the games. I believe the gunman are also randomly chosen and that's why they are just as disposable
No that got debunked because you saw some people choose the red one instead of the blue one on the screen
@@noobaction7720 That's too bad
Besides, if that were true, some of the gunmen wouldn't have resorted to secret organ harvesting to make extra money.
And, not a lot of gunmen die.
They send invitation to employees in that black box with pink ribben like that one which the officer found in front man's room
Another hint I noticed is during the lights out episode (when everyone began fighting/killing each other), when the old man finally had enough he was sitting safely on top of one of the bunk beds and basically screamed at them to stop this foolishness. The leader is watching the security cameras and tells his employee (red team) to turn the lights back on and end it. Almost as if he was listening to the old mans orders.
Yes that was the scene that made me realize the old man was in charge of the place after that scene I instantly realized who was in charge and when the detective was in search of his brother that went missing and it says his brother won a previous game that’s when I also realized who was second in charge sadly they gave that away really soon
Kinda sus too as to how he got up there considering his age with no help

It's simply amazing how this show from South Korea has received such critical acclaim and international success in a ridiculous amount of time. The only film I've seen from this country's industry is "Train to Busan" and I really liked it, but after seeing Squid Game... GOOD GOD! I have to keep an eye out for more amazing shows from South Korea.
This type of success was pretty much jump started by the movie "parasite". I'm actually quite shocked you didn't mention it. Watch it, it's legit one of the best movies I've seen.

I was suspicious before, but the moment that cemented the old man as the mastermind for me is during the marbles game...when he said he used to stand by the pole and watch his son play games with his friends, they didn't even realize he was there. Speaking of the old man running into the main character after the game ended, I think he was the one to put the card at the main character’s house.
Anyone wondered how he found and knew so much about all of them? All of the players owe ridiculously large sums of money and the old man stated on his deathbed that he got wealthy lending out money to people. They were likely all his debtors.
Another thing is that the main character swore on his mom when he said he wouldn’t take back the money from the girl. He ended up trying to take it back and the girl said she feels bad for his mom. and his mom does die at the end it was foreshadowed when they voted to get out the game. Idk if you covered this already
I never realized this omg
This is an underrated comment
i was not surprised to find out that the old man is a part of it because 1. he's confident about the game 1, 2. the killing spree stopped when he screamed he's afraid (and how did he get up there?), 3. everyone else's death was displayed except for his...😀

I think that they made it a rule to spare whoever didn’t have a partner in the marble game because they assumed no one would pick the old man, especially after the game before it where they learned to choose strong partners
no it only happened because the doctor died. So if the doctor didn't die, the game would have proceeded as planned and the old man would have to play with someone. So, then your theory would be incorrect
@@vanillatae9156 You completely misunderstood what I said, it has nothing to do with the doctor, but rather the procedure they had to make after he died. I think Gi-Hun is Il-Nam's son.
1) Il-Nam talks a lot about his son, and how similar Gi-Hun is to him.
2) Marbles game: they both grew up in a town just like this
3) Il-Nam and Gi-Hun both have a milk sensitivity
4) Gi-Hun's birthday is 4/26 when he enters it into the ATM. On the 24th of some month (it's actually June I think, since his daughter's birthday had just passed) Il-Nam says it's his son's birthday soon.
there's a lot more, but I definitely think these two are connected deeper than just the game.
I always felt like they were father and son, when Il nam revealed his name I was ready for it to be son something and then gi jun would realise
I think they confirmed he's not his son
Having lactose intolerance is very common in east asia though.
the director and writer(i forgot his name) of the squid game said in one of his recent interview that gi-hun is not the son of oh il nam
Gi-Hun actually entered his daughter's birthday.
BUT Il-Nam said that on the 24th of October and Gi-Hun's birthday is on the 31st of October. it still adds up! :)
The one I noticed is how the Ji-yeong mentioned the actor Lee Byung-hun during the marble game “Let’s drink Maldives at Mojito”. Then they reveal the actor who played the front man is Lee Byung-hun
I could tell the old man was the Boss when he was on that tall bed screaming for everyone to stop fighting and the front man made everything stop if he was a normal contestant old or young The front man would not have listened to him at all
Oh good point.
Yeah and him standing on the bed so high up kind of symbolises power and superiority.. He was the reason the game stopped (he is heard, he shapes the way things go) , so that's a huge clue but most people let it go, myself included
I was also surprised why he listened to the old man I just thought maybe he feel sorry to the old man coz he was screaming that he's scared and then I realized now that they wouldnt listened to him if he was just a normal player
that's what i thought too!!!
When that scene happend for the first time I thought the Front Man just felt sorry for the old man, because he was terrified. Found at the end out that that wasn't the case yeah..
Am I the only one who thinks the old man was actually prepared to die participating in those games? I mean, he still has that big tumor in his head. Surviving the games only meant he had one more year to live.
he wanted to have fun in the game he himself created, but still keep alive bc after all he was beside it all
Just because he has a brain tumor, doesn't mean he would want to be dead terribly by the very own game he makes. It makes him so stupid

@@yozo217 not really, really. Might be the case for some but not with this raccoon-like old man. Yes, he is there to participate and enjoy the thrill of being in the game with lots of privilege. When Gi-hun and Il-nam met for the first time, I immediately thought they might me related in some way bc of their numbers. And when they had the dialogue about milk, I thought Ii-nam might be his father. Also, when Il-nam said he wanted to give his son the last bday gift before he dies, I think the gift was supposed to be all that money after he wins, meaning the old man was intentionally helping him win the game. I just wonder why would they be separeted, maybe Gi-hun never met his father, but his father (the old guy) obv knew who his son was and tried to reconnect with him this way. Maybe he somehow knew about Gi-hun's situation and debt, and maybe even knew the guys that made him sign that contract in the beginning. With all that information gathered, the old man knew he would manage to make "his son" join the game. Idk just an idea, but there are obviously some points where this theory probably doesn't make sense.
Your theory makes sense!
I also thought it was weird that Il-nam gave Gi-hun his jacket and he wore it until the end, perhaps it was a way to protect him. Like, as long as he was wearing the 001 jacket, the guards wouldn't kill him. That's a very fatherly thing to do.
In game 1 after everyone is paralyzed in fear, the old man is the only one that was not scared. also, when scanned by the doll in the 1st game, he was not glowing greenish
Also the people closest had a lighter green thing around them in case the doll missies the shot
It was probably programed not to shoot a him or anybody too close
I just had to go back and check, the old man is highlighted green when there is 11:08 left of the episode, he is next to player 061 both have a green outline

Don't forget when there was ruckuss in the dorm at night, before Il-Nam begged the players to stop fighting, Ali was chasing away the bad guys using a metal beam, and he let his friends hide behind his back.
Ali shouldn't have been there at all :( he only needed the money because he wasn't paid for all of his hard work by his employer. It truly shows how genuinely good people can end up swallowed by a crappy situation due to circumstances.
don't forget that Gi-hun's daughter pointed a gun at her dad and pulled the trigger before she knew it was a lighter.
When the guy pointed out how the one character killed himself, he didn't point out how he was in the bathtub surrounded by water, but then killed himself in a pile of water (rain water).
I think hes just overthinking all these “details”. Could’ve just been a coincidence lol
@@starkmaximoff4390 A coincidence would be if it was one or two players, this was 3 of our main characters, no way it's just a coincidence
He is burning charcoal in that bathroom, he is also in the bathtub in a suit so that the weight of the water would slightly prevent him from escaping the bathroom when he started suffocating
He also stabbed himself in the same place he stabbed the North Korean girl, left side of the neck
Eye for an eye type deal
I also think he felt shame after discovering that she essentially stopped the main character from killing him at night only for him to kill her when she was most vulnerable. Personally I wish she won the game as she deserved it the most but it goes to show that you don’t always get what you deserve as seen with Ali
Sang-Woo made an effort to put his blazer back on before going in the tub. In the interview they said that he did that because he wanted to be found in his most 'perfect' state, so it's fitting that he would die in formal clothes in the squid game.
Another detail. Also in episode two Gi-Hun refuses the money he is given, because "money doesn't buy everything". This is also a foreshadowing of the finale, with him refusing to use the win money.
The fourth episode called "Stick to the team" where everyone just kills eachother in flashing lights was the most disturbing shit I have seen.

The fact that he is 001 is already sus. And the reverse order of voting where he was the last one to determine the game to end or continue. It has no reason for the order to be reverse. Also oldman constant randomly mentioning his childhood game experiences already hitting he found joy in this death game process.
I mean that only matters if everyone else votes 50/50 which is very unlikely
All these arguments you've listed don't prove anything at all... Being 001 is not sus at all, just like the main character was the last. The reverse order doesn't mean anything too, voting last doesn't bring you any advantage, if anything there was a bigger chance his vote wouldn't change anything. Talking about childhood times is not something that only the Oldman did, every korean with a playlful childhood knew how these games worked and how nostalgic it was for them
the only sus was that:
1) He managed to climb up to the top of the bunk bed and said stop fighting or whatever and the masks people listened and stop the fight.
2) Before the marble game, they have to find a partner, Il-Nam didn't even try to find one because the marble game consists of 2 players so the players must be even to play with each other. But since, the doctor died, it became odd. One would left out and that left out's position was supposedly for Il-Nam but then the woman gangsta got it.
3) He lied about forgetting stuff, he knew Gihun was lying to him but he let him win because II-Nam knew what would be the next game (Tempered Glass) plus he dragged the time by running around trying to find the door (?) I forgot but he was pretending to find something so he could spare more time so that other players would get killed and wont find that II-Nam didn't actually die from the "gunshot"
4) The marble scene where he was supposedly to get shot, the brick wall blocked him so u couldn't see him whether he did get shot or what.
5) II-Nam "coincidentally" met upon GiHun at the 24/7 store and he said that he's staying at his friend's house or whatever...I dont have anything to say to that but thats pretty sus lmao at least imo
6) for the red light green light game, he didn't seem to be shocked by the fact people are getting shot if you lose, but instead he kept a happy face lmaoo (this was pretty sus for me lol) like i get it, it reminded him of his childhood but man's one wrong move, he ded. The thing about the locks on the old man's handcuffs missing is a brilliant observation
Except is incorrect. The locks are away from the camera. They are on the other side of the cuffs, which are twisted in and hidden under his wrists. One side of the cuff has a lock, the other is tied to the black chains. If you look closely, the side he showed is the one tied to the black chain. He didn't took his locks in the middle of the tug of war. That would be Houdini level escape artistry skill, which there is no reason to believe he had.
5:30 the director and creator has talked about it, they choose this as a sign of him becoming more assertive and angry. So yeah, red is the color of a man in charge, in control and angry.
A new detail I noticed is when the alarm is going off the old man wets his pants. I think he is legit scared bc he’s not in control of things while a player is missing.
there's a scene where you can see a water bottle besides him
That water was used if I'm not wrong to down his fever.
@@hey608 Yeah but you don’t need an entire bottle (nor half) to wet a cloth for a fever. Maybe they needed it often enough to make the water used up… but it’s a good theory that the old man used it to wet his pants. Not sure why he’d want to though

@@minzh.09 whyd anyone suspect that? There was 0 reasons to suspect him for anyone in the game, so there was no need to lower suspicion
Also notice that when the fight breaks out between players, when the old man screams for the game to end, the man in the black mask immediately stops the game listening to his command. This foreshadows that he is the host of the game.
Also, in the beginning of the game "Red Light Green Light" the so called "doll" didn't count II-nam or player 1 as an actual player, meaning it wasn't monitoring his motion.

Another thing is the old man during the 4th game literally said that the houses looked just like his childhood.
Actually, for the official poster detail, I wouldn't say he was standing at the same spot as the Front Man but both sides have a mole. For the contestants, it was the old man since he was the only was smiling while on the other side the mole is the police/detective showing his face. I actually noticed this detail when I first watched the show. I think this would be a better explanation since the old man wasn't necessarily standing in the same place as the Front Man.
I actually never saw the poster but now that you mention it, this seems like a more accurate explanation for it. They really do pay a lot of attention to small details in this show
If you rewatch Episode 2, when all the players go back into the van, notice that all the players are seen getting gassed EXCEPT for the old man. You only see the old man get into the van and that’s it.
He was my sus from the second episode when he coincidentally bumped into the protagonist. Every scene with him after just cemented it. I also ponder the thought that he is really demented and his son designed the game for him to enjoy it before the end, but when the marbles were played and he showed that he is actually very present I knew for a fact that hes the mastermind. Killing him off-screen proved it for me. Also, the brother plot was also kind of obvious from the get go.
Yes I could see the brother plot from a mile away
Called it the second they showed him. What kids out here playing silly games in playgrounds in more modern days. Dead giveaway that was from an older age. Plus an old man who is dying but runs out to play games anyway is a perfect match for the opening narrator who is a little too excited to win. I called old man immediately.
I dont think the detective is dead. It seemed like they purposely didn't show his body. And as we know the old man was supposedly killed but they never showed his body. This likely means the detective is still alive. Season 2 will probably have a side plot where we see the detective and how he wakes up after falling into the water and swimming to shore. The show will probably follow his journey back to the mainland of Korea where he will expose the squidgames. Also he was shot in the shoulder by his brother which wouldn't kill him. I think the brother did this because he knew he would at least have a chance of surviving. And Junho shot his brother in the shoulder when he could have shot him in the head. I think him and his brother will try to take down the operation together but the brother will be killed in the end. Also I believe that Sae Byeok could still be alive. It wasn't confirmed that it was her body that was turned to ashes. She could have been revived and become one of the soldiers. I think that anyone who is still alive for example the people who fell during the tug of war could be turned into soldiers. This would likely make them more loyal to the operation since their lives were saved by the company or operation. In conclusion I believe that Junho is most definitely alive and saebyok is likely dead however fan popularity could save saebyok. Also I hate Sangwoo.
bruh she got her throat slit...there's no saving her from that lmfao
@@raphdutra2941 Agree. She would only survive if Sangwoo and Saebyeok planned everything for her to sneak out from that place, which meant that he did not even slice her throat and that was just an acting from both of them. I was rooting for Sangwoo but damn that loser gi hun as the main character won the game 🙄
Well I think 456 which is the last number represents him being the last one standing. 001 giving him the jacket means he's passing it to Gi-Hun. Either be the master of the games or take the role of the Frontman which was also a winner before. It's like passing a throne for me.
I'm wondering if Gi hun becomes the frontman or some major position like that and then destroys the game after having that powerful position
@@seeyafornow2642 i would like to see him become one of the VIPs and is trying to unmasked them Maybe as the old mans‘ heir but would that make sense?
That crazy old bird fooled everyone
Besides the already great points observed! I believe the cop is alive and the reason his brother doesn't headshot him is because he wants to give him a CHANCE of survival. The cop doesn't report the on goings because they find him alive and the brother later recruits him. To stay quiet for 1 year makes no sense without it being reported otherwise. My main point though is, who are the red soldiers and why are they so obedient? Originally I thought they are also police or government officials because this game is higher up than just Korea. Then after seeing their living quarters it became more clear that perhaps they are prisoners extracted from prisons to shorten their sentences if they serve time for these games (or offered to serve this time before going to prison). Most of them murdered the players without remorse.
Another thought just occurred to me, they could also be semi VIP's looking for bloodlust hence the masks orrrrrr they could be other North Korean defectors looking for refuge and will do anything to stay in South Korea anonymously.
great theory!
Maybe the red soldiers are those who picked the red squares during the game with the Recruiter at the train station. It was either red or green. The main character and the guy who played the same game in the last episode picked the green as well. We never see anyone picked the red during the game with the Recruiter. So if you picked the Red square, you might be recruited as a red soldier. Just a theory.
@@1twosew97 If I'm not mistaken, the other square was blue, not green. But yeah the theory still makes sense.
For some reasons, I think some of them are forced to do that. For instance that one boy (in the honeycomb game) who opened his mask without hesitating even though he knew that he would get killed by doing so, he looked like he wasn't regretting his decision, also lowkey seemed like he purposely broke the rule so that he would not continue his cruel job there.
Lol guys i have another theory!!!
In Episode 1, He asks him to choose a color in Pog/Ddakji game. Seong Gi-hun chooses blue. And wakes up as a a player. What if he has chosen red? Maybe Guard/Workers.
This is something awesome...like yes how they were recruiting the staffs...
I doubt it as interesting as that would be, doesn't seem like it
it might, at least, it symbolizes, if any normal person is lucky, he can secure a safer life than people who are unlucky(picking red one). In korea, civil servent or people who are hired by where secure good welfare such as government, government related company, public facility, organization etc represent a stable life despite a small salary(can never become a rich/power people), but still must obey the rules made by powerful people working for them and can be eliminated if breaking the rules.
I think this is possible. Otherwise, where were they getting the guards from?
In the end we see that Gi-hun dyes his hair red. Does this mean he would somehow enter the game again to know more about them, but as a guard this time?
Yes!! The guys in the play ground who revealed his face looks like he doesn't want what he was doing
Random fact that no one probably cares about, but after the 4th game, when Oh Il-nam and Ali both had their unfortunate deaths, Seong Gi-hun was wearing the number 001 instead of 456. Pretty cool if you ask me!
When the woman "huged" player 101 and started falling i was like atleast turn around so you fall on top of him

I thought the red hair could also represent the blood of those who died in the squid game and how he’s carrying that burden and memory with him everywhere he goes. It cannot escape him.
"Gganbu" old man already foreshadow his wealth will be share with GiHun. And red light green light old man was having fun and smiling while playing
There are two things that I'm still questioning and have seen no one else talk about:
1. When the fight breaks out in the sleeping hall, Il-Nam (the old man) climbs to the top of the bunk beds, but how could the guards ensure his safety? How could they have prevented someone from killing him?
2. In the bridge game, couldn't they just walk over the metal frame of the bridge instead of jumping on the glass?
I was thinking the same things lol.
Really same
i think for the second one it was too thin
About the fight, there's chance that there was a hidden door on those walls where the old man can hide and only shown himself when it's about time to stop the fight, sounds absurd but possible. About the bridge, I've thought the same thing why not go to the metal frame. But on the other side, I forgot if the rule was only not to step on the brittle glass or can use other methods. if the rule said choose between the two glasses, means you need to apply that rule, no such thing as going to the metal frame or you'll be shot just like the red light Green Light rule, where all you need to do is to not to move if red light and move if green light.
@@jamnee2648 actually someone said, the reason why a single tempered glass can support two people is that they could go in pairs hand in hand, and both of them jump at the same time onto the next glass. One of them would break the glass and fall but the lucky one would save the unlucky one.
Gong yoo in the beginning told them when they played the game with him that they can pay with their "body" And which they agreed and they literally had to pay with their body as the organs of the eliminated players were taken.
the stolen organs wasn’t part of the original plan though. It was a illegal thing by the pink workers and the doctor.
@@antelopeeatsants438 The Front Man didn't care about the organs black marketing and the only reason that they died because they gave the doctor details about the next games Which is cheating.
@@donniesmith3688 yeah i agree with this, thats what im trying to convey here
The locks were actually on the other side of his bracelet. I don't think he planned on having a trick of tug of war since he was basically the king of the game and was confident that his team would win because of him
True. But don’t forget they only survived because of Sang-Woo. The old man got them far, but the other team was gaining back momentum because of their superior strength.
@@LennoxLewis86 No fun without stakes - he did tell the truth about the tumor. If he's been bored for so long, why not take a shot at it? Or so he probably thought.
@@AsifIcarebear3 Agree, if you could choose between waiting do die like a old man in a hospital bed, or die while playing games you loved as a kid.
Easy choice for me
@@LennoxLewis86 that's why I said he was confident in winning because of that strategy. Wasn't 100% but he said he was undefeated. Sang-woo did save the day and that's why he was extra happy and laughing because that was the closest to death he came in the game
The red hair one! Omg well done
It could literally be foreshadowing the entire plot of season 2
I knew it wasn't futile and colours are really important symbols in any work of fiction
Thanks :)
Hello 👋 how are you doing today
That's true. The red pigment may have a larger symbolic tie in season 2. Looking forward to a possible season 2.
The most important one should've been episode 1:
- Old sick man sits happily on a bed counting people.
- old sick man isn't fazed by people being killed during the first game and cassually walks over corpses, still moving when the robot turns around but didn't get killed.
This is where I figured out, or thought, that he would be the big bad. And he was, but not in the way I thought he would be. But! He was.
well what is wrong with him happily counting people in the beginning? He said it was to help with his memory and at the time he would have had no knowledge that it was a death game (obviously he knew but us as viewers would have no reason to think it's weird he's counting players since they didn't know it was a death game)
@@homielander5924 it was obvious to me, idk how to explain it. My experience watching and reading Asian fiction? Idk
@@homielander5924 he could have count the bunk beds? lmaoo and I get what @Kiya Lee Levy Runaya said, normally in dramas/fictions/etc they always make "unnecessary" talk for the villains (or generally, bring up a character who has screentime but their role doesn't seem like its "useful" so we would least likely to expect them and when they turns out to be the villain, boom people dont expect it lmao(idk if i make sense or not xD))...anyways for most people, they would just think past it and watch the dramas/movies/etc lol
Same here. Something felt unusually wrong about him. My doubts were confirmed during the marble game scene where the guard waits for the MC to come outside the house before he could go inside and "shoot" the old man. The guards don't waste time for eliminating the players at all, but for the old man it was different. Moreover, the camera didn't show us his "death".
@@thanatos2288 I honestly thought we'd see him again, in full health. With organs collected from the losers by that doctor.
So when that didn't happen it caught me a little off guard, him still dying in that bed, peacefully
And I think the last part of the last episode where the protagonist watches the salesman convincing a person was not just a coincidence
I think he was there to drag the protagonist back to the game for some purpose
Also the old man's name is translated to *"number one"* in English.
Wow I watch videos of these and no one talked about that and this needs more number
it's translated number one man
as a korean i noticed that immediately and was wondering if they intended it
yeah it literally translates as
il - one
nam(ja) - man
so it makes sense hes 001 but it also makes sense that in every game (until hes alive) hes the default number 1 player because of the records it doesnt show who it is, its always the second player
i think in korean, il means one but thats all ik
I don't know if this foreshadowing anything, but I noticed when the old man giving his jacket to 456 he said something like "wear this, so no one will look down on you"
I feel like it's a cue for the front man and the red hoodie to keep their distance from 456, like a guarantee to keep him save, I guess
Yes! Maybe it was a sign for the soldiers to overlook the cheating of Gihun in the next game
Gi-Hun’s red hair speculation actually makes sense. Even if he didn’t consciously decide that, it’s possible he subconsciously wanted to change his hair color to reflect the inner changes within him, this mainly being that he is more assertive and feeling powerful enough to make an attempt to bring the game’s creators and staff to justice.
Has it slipped our minds that the writer wanted us to think the old man “really lost his marbles” both figuratively and literally!?!?
Ji Yeong: "Thank you for playing with me"
Me: 😭😭😭
Another little detail for Deok-Su was he was betrayed by his parter in the gang and during the game he betrayed Mi-Nyeo
4:08 From here you can see the lock on the old man's left wrist, the locks are just on the other opposite side of the chain, with this right hand we see the chain but the lock is on the opposite side, so we can't see it, if you look at the other player's locks, it's on the opposite side of the chain. So the old man could've died in this part, but I guess that's why he told everyone about the strategy.
I started to doubt that old man when the riot began. He shouted that everyone gonna die and the way the guards stopped the game just after an old man speech is suspicious.
not really, they said they wanted to reduce the players by a certain amount and that had already happened so they needed to stop the killings or their would be no players left in the game
@@homielander5924 the other people were screaming for help about the riot but the guards ignored them. There’s also just the way how the camera focuseson the old man and the front guy. The camera work kinda make it seems like they have some secret. 😂 or I watched too much kdrama because that type of camera work usually trying to tell they were having affair or something
The guy who made this show is a genius
Really? Genius? Albert Einstein is a genius.
