Very interesting thank you ! I was diagnosed in 2008 (47 years of age) and was already taking 5-Htp supplement with no side effects. I only started taking Carbidopa/Levadopa 4 years ago and instantly had adverse reactions caused by the 5-htp. For 3 years I was looking for a replacement as I was seriously depressed but nothing worked, not even Ashwagada!. Finally my pharmacist who also specialises in natural remedies made me a supplement combining rhodiola and grape seed and within 5 days I regained that buoyant effect that 5-htp used to give. I imagine rhodiola on its own is fine too. I realise that we are all so different .. but I hope this can be of interest to someone. Thank you again.

What kind of adverse effects did you get? I'm curious because I found a lot of interesting research stating that 5-HTP was as beneficial as amendadine in helping with dyskinesia caused by lev/ carbidopa

Has anyone tried L-theanine for better sleep? Am curious to know about experiences.

Taking 100-200mg L-Theanine with Melatonin 10-12mg before bed has helped more than just melatonin for not acting out during sleep, legs running, hitting dream monsters, some lessening of hands conclusively squeezing or grabbing motions, for past 2+ years with neurologists' approval.
Curious about L-Tyrosine, read to avoid because affects dopamine levels, but can't find more information on that.
      Hope that helps
