We had the pleasure of meeting Jaime at the April 2018 gathering on Fiesta Island, put on by The VanLife App and @theladiesvan on instagram. We have been friends since.
Jaime is based out of Oceanside and is about to set sail on his permanent roadtrip of vanlife. Since he was 16, he has been meticulously restoring VWs, back to original condition. It is like a blast from the past! We have one of his recent restoration van tours coming up. So look out for that.
His 144" T1N Sprinter has:
720w of solar, wifi, a full kitchen, a hot shower, storage for 2 bikes and a surf board inside the van, 2 hanging closets, vitamix, huge Trucker fridge, toilet, workspace, entertaining space, and heaps of power, storage, and more. This is an amazing build out!

This guy looks like from the 70's then travelled to 2018 until now and decided to stay. Cool rad Van
I think my parents watched way too many episodes of Happy Days. Thanks Mainframe! The van is pretty rad.
@Patriot Jefferson Thanks! Health = Wealth!
Mainframe 01 good description.
He reminds me to the Movie "The Silence of the Lambs"
He does, I should know being born in 1970 myself. I Love his personality.
That's a 30 minute van tour in 15 minutes. Dude knows his stuff!
Wow. So very well explained and put together! One thing I can't get to grips with is, showering outside! ( Says she who lives in a bungalow. Lol ) or bathing in a river with all the living water occupants! But each to their own. Good video. Happy adventures. Stay safe😃
Thanks! I've been super busy since before and after this video, but should be freeing up sometime to make an upgrade to the shower situation. I'm looking forward to making a more efficient, expandable/collapse-able design that I'll upload once I finish and test out. Thanks for your thoughts on the showering aspects of Vanlife. It is usually most exciting in the outdoors environment, and just being out in a beautiful area, and being able to get clean is a high :-)
@@karmannghiaforsale4451 Hi. Thank you for your reply. I'm looking forward to seeing your up date video on the shower idea and anything else you've done in your efficient and brilliantly designed home. Take care and stay safe!
Great tips, this guys knows his stuff! Wabasto sounds like an efficient heater. I heard of Espar, too. I think they have gasoline as well as diesel. A lot of pretty laid back people in vans; not by accident.
They sure do. Yeah in order to be a vanlifer you gotta be chillaxed tto the core.
Damn! That's a great buildout. You can tell he's put a lot of thought into it through lots of van experience.
Thanks Matt. My primary examples were the 1971 VW Sportsmobile I'm selling as well as some time spent in a 1967 split window VW Riveria Camper , and once upon a time a Eurovan Camper. After those personal experiences much was gleaned on youtube and even better in person at the Vanlife Meetup in San Diego. It really helped me to see the builds in person, especially when they were the same style Sprinter. Thank you for your compliment.
@@peacelovenvanlife9950 You're so awesome! I aspire to be like you, dude! 🤙☺✌
Awesome I just finished mine, very just simple, no shower but a lot of WIPE'S I'm still working on it.
Hahaha! Awsome congrats dude!
What a rad layout! Dude has it dialed
Thank you. As I mentioned, these amazing Kookz, Dani and Kevin inspired the layout from the start. Super grateful to have met them!
Great job mate. Your " when it's finished..." is the one thing all true van enthusiasts can understand. Vans can be soooo personal and are always evolving as you use them. Nice that you give credit to those who inspired specific details too. Not many conversions are purely owner ideas. Re ; sliding doors. Looks like the material is a bit too flexible for the height of the door. I e the same material will stay rigid on a shorter door and slide easier as there's zero side pressure on the rails. You can change out the doors or add stiffening battens/ plate on the inside. Also make sure your sliding edges (of the door) have slightly rounded end corners, are slightly rounded in cross section, and super smoothly sanded. When attempting sliders plastic or aluminium rails work lots better than timber rails. It's the same with many materials. ...aluminium slides better against steel than steel against steel etc. Oh and that's .....Al - you - min - ee - um by the way ! Lol You're gonna have some good times in that van ! Happy travels everyone. John
Thank you John Vancamper! Love the name! I like your ideas on getting the doors to slide better and you're cracking me up with "Oh and that's .....Al - you - min - ee - um by the way ! Lol", since you're a Mate, of course ;-) I was at Eamon & Bec's San Diego VanLife meetup last weekend with many others showcasing their design ideas with open van tours. I met a nice designer/builder who used 3form, which makes some very nice panels. I'd like to go for that look as well. His other tip was using adhesive felt tape that goes in the bottoms, or possibly channels if you can find them to simulate sliding glass door designs. In my restorations, these are often in auto window channels as well for all you vanlife upcyclers. Come to think of it, Van.Project has some very interesting metal mesh cabinets that would work well with a hardwood edge. It is an exciting pursuit to continue the home design that suits your ever changing lifestyle, till you find that one sweet spot :-)...not sure if that exists, yet. Thanks for brainstorming with me and Frank's idea of using beeswax. The village is in effect!
@Patriot Jefferson You're welcome. Sliding doors are great space savers. The design normally requires slack in the vertical distance between the top and bottom rails so that the doors can be installed and removed easily. This slack can lead to slight lifting of the trailing end and "digging in" of the leading end as it's pulled across. It's harder for the material at the bottom corner to "bite" and so stop, if it's rounded. Then rounding the cross section is about minimising the surface area of the door which is in contact with the rails. Less area equals less friction. Wax works to reduce friction but also collects dust and then clogs up. It's helpful to place the handle or pull hole as centrally as possible so as to minimise tilt. Finally ( I think finally lol ) training yourself to the best method of opening them makes a difference too. Like lots of things in life a little patience and a gentle touch gets better results ! A lot of waffle about a mundane subject I know ....but......if it can help one person to enjoy their van more then it's not wasted. The wonder of you tube : ) Happy travels Patriot.
Love the aesthetic of this van such as the aluminium ? curved cabinet edges, the tambour retracting doors, the mahogany ply finish, the angles he has chosen to build his cabinetry to add more living space, the choice of 2 burner stove, the tuckaway toaster oven, sensible fridge choice , the vitamix platform and filtered water storage idea and he even has showering with hot water and a natureshead. I could go on ...! His van is beautifully designed utilising a minimal palette of wood tones and metal . So many spot on ideas. I would love to see the completely finished project with all the final details realised. It is a fekkin amazing conversion.
Aw, thanks Liz! I'm glad you saw what I was going for, and summed it up very nicely. I'll be sure to follow up when it is complete. Thank you!

Wow!!!! ‘Power Central’ is amazing!!!! This so what I need.... someone who knows how to do it all!!!! Excellent build!
Thank you Cathie! I'm not sure where you are located, but in San Diego, the meetup scene is vast and there are so many amazing vans that show up with all different types and many of them are interested in doing this as a business. I think you are going to see a lot of budding talented folks offering services as this movement gains momentum. Stay tuned :-) I know a few I'm happy to connect you with if interested. Cheers.

hi van kooz love that lot of thought went into his build and he seems really laid back individual safe travels
Thank you Jose. I'm a couple months away from full timing it! Can hardly wait!
Cant help but this guy reminds me to the Movie "The Silence of the Lambs".
Hello Clarice....
Lots of neat practical touches. The van itself was a good find with two sliding doors and practically no mileage! Doesn't seem to be fully insulated, or is it only the rear doors which havent been insulated? Would like a follow up video once he's finished the odd jobs he mentioned.
Hi Wishwader. The van had floor to ceiling insulation that I left intact. I will eventually finish out the details and the doors will be made to match the Meranti "Hydro-tek" marine plywood look that I applied over the existing 1/4" plywood the carpet was glued to. I'll check in with the VanKookz for a followup when this is all complete. Thanks for your comment.
peacelovenvanlife - i look forward to it. Cheers for the reply.
peacelovenvanlife good of you to do this walk through. Jamie you had my head spinning on the electrical! Lol you were spitting those terms out so quickly, sounds like you know your electrical set ups forwards and back!!! I would love to get help setting up a system for my Ford Transit. Thumbs up on your Van builds!
@@longhairmullet Thank you Dani. I learned a lot on this although I understood the concepts and have DC and AC experience. However, my advice is to always follow the KISS principle. This system will likely be removed and used for a tiny home property to come, and I'll drop into a 12V system so I can have the real estate up top for a view deck and skylight. My main advice is to keep it at 12V, and go small with your panels and batteries with the capacity to add more if required. Good luck!
He did a great job with the small space.
Thank you!

Thanks Kawaii Puff! I like your name! :-)
I have a crush on you ! And your van 🙌🏻
Those vents on the back and side of the van driver side were probably for cooling the x-ray equipment originally. I recommend that you fill up the water and the food and everything as if you are on a trip and drive to a cat scale and check your overall gross weight. Slick! Looks like the problem with the sliding wooden door is that it’s a tad too long?
Thanks John P! I might be heading out to meet the crew for some climbing and will do that. I'm curious about the weight, but feel confident it is under...yet facts will prevail. The countertop was rather heavy as is the electronics which are placed on center with the rear axle. The water tank is also a concentrated load. I'll let you guys know soon. Thanks for your feedback. I think the cabinet sliding door is going to work out with a few ideas that came about in a comment below. More on that soon. You're correct on the vents. There was a section of floor removed for the X-Ray unit that was welded back in so you really couldn't tell unless you knew the story. I'd like to get a geiger counter just to know that as well...Cheers!
Well thought out. Nice van.
Thank you Nicholas!
What an amazing build!
Thank you! I'm very happy with this Vanlife mobile!
Bam on the side door..... no rattle trap there. Smooth tour man. You sud be a salesman talking so smooth there.
Thanks...the van had the floor to ceiling carpeting so no rattle trap is right. I will finish off the inside of the doors soon and add some functionality to these areas...now that you mention it, it might be a good idea to add the rattle trap. However, I have to mention that I haven't noticed the rattle sounds from the walls, but more from things in the van, and it is usually when I depart and some drawer is not properly latched. I'll have to ride in a van with rattle trap to understand the difference. Take care!
Keep up the good work Jamie! Very talented!!
Very nice build with smart solutions!

OMG...such a huge difference, especially if it has been sitting for a while, it has not hint of plastic, which I'm not a fan of at all. I love your name, and got hooked on that Bill Wither's song at the last Vanlife meetup from Matt at enjoythejourney.today. Good stuff!

@@peacelovenvanlife9950 Great van and FANTASTIC tour. Every detail I like to hear about without the side stories. Amazing electrical system! That's ~1000ah, ja? This could've been titled "Biggest Electrical System in a Short Wheeled Van."
IT'S INSANE!!!!
@@vandogtrailer6701 Thank you! I'm mostly seeking time off grid and I will likely only charge by solar in this scenario. I figured it was better to error on the side of too much battery storage, versus the risk of having to add Lithiums along the way and having to balance that system. I don't have a BMS and have heard of drift, so manual check-ins are part of the journey, just as they are with the EV. So far the system has worked well, but I have noticed drops when parked in partially shaded areas, such as while camping at a festival in Oregon, as well as during the winter solstice when the sun is low on the horizon. I might consider modifying the frame to tilt to better capture the solar energy. It is all very exciting and interesting. Luckily with the Conext Combox, I can see a daily graph of the Watts harvested since the day I installed this system as well as other data points. So, in a nut shell, even though it seems like 1000ah, I'm not sure if it really is. Is there a direct relationship between dividing 60V by 5 to get 12V, and then multiplying the 50ah/per pack, so 200Ah X 5 to get 1000Ah? Considering some system inefficiencies with inverters, losses due to resistance and step downs, I truly wonder what the total Ah really is.
@@charcotravels5966 I'm feeling the insanity right now Charco! This whole Vanlife movement is off the hook! Who would have known we'd all be floating the same river together :-)
watching all these awesome conversions made by craftsmen I often have a feeling they forget...vans have their max gross weights ;)
This model has a payload of 3,615 Lbs. The curb weight is 4,935 Lbs, so the gross is 8,550 Lbs. I'll have to drive over a truck scale and report back. Good comment since this is very important, and I'd like to add another water tank, so I'll check it out. Thanks!
@@peacelovenvanlife9950 I'm thinking the European way where we're limited to 3,5 tonnes (that's some 7000 lbs) due to car licence limitations. so in many cases vehicles like sprinters weight as you mentioned odd 5000 lbs. that leaves you 2000 lbs payload if it's to be registered for a car licence :) in many cases factory built motorhomes, even fairly big ones like 4-5 berth in Europe are registered as 7000 lbs gross weight for people to be able to drive them on their regular licences. that often legally leaves some 700-1000 lbs payload. I've heard stories that especially German authorities like to hunt for motorhomes and take them on weights because if there's 4 people traveling you've got virtually no place for anything else than themselves. And you well know how much stuff you can put into your motorhome - clothing, food, all the sports equipment like bikes etc. not to mention water tanks, gas and other small bits and pieces ;) this is why I always pay attention on how thick wood people use, how often it is actually too much than needed. or some people use pallet wood for their cladding or furniture. or they use home furniture, the frames or doors. counter tops, same thing they often seem like they weight a tonne! so, yeah. a lot depends on how much limited one is by their local regulations :)
I love this one
Thank you! :-)
One of the coolest van builds I've seen! Thanks for sharing!!
Thank you! I'm very happy with it. :-)
Anna White used cupboard sliding doors that were like miniature farmhouse sliding doors (hung at the top) that can be lifted and double as tables. That should solve your kitchen door problem.
Oh, thanks. This design doubles to keep things from flying out as well. I replaced the lightweight luan ply with plyboo and they work well now. I'd prefer to use 3form, but it's pricey and hard to source. Also, these can be lifted out when parked for easier access of drawers and the panels slide between the mattress and driver side wall. Cheers~
Great setup for a 144wb. Thanks.
Thank you SoulCandy! Nice name :-)
Clearly an intelligent guy
Thanks...just lots of planning.
It’s not that sneaky if you have an awning on the side... but awesome build!
Yeah but when they are both out and both doors are open it’s dope!
I think the propane canisters right against the battery can cause a spark and explosion. I’m not sure but I think that’s what caused the explosion in the moving truck video that’s all over the Internet (it was bbq grill canister size, obliterated the truck, driver died). Feel free to google it.
Propane should be in a box with a drop out hole cut in the floor. Propane is heavier than air.
Good call...those shouldn't be floating around back there anyway. I haven't refilled the 1 gallon since new and have spent a good solid month at least making meals on the stove, so I tossed some camping ones in with a small camp stove in case I ran out at RTR. Safety first! Thanks for pointing that out to me and others. Not a good combo.
@@beachbum200009 A sealed box with a hole in the bottom and a vent tube plumbed to the outside as well for venting, huh?. Sounds like a good plan to avoid not waking up one day. Another one on the list! Thanks for bringing this to light.
Also a pack of toilet paper is in there. One spark from system to toilet paper to propane and boom!
@@peacelovenvanlife9950 you can also get a cheap battery powered hydrocarbon detector in case of any leaks good idea to have in a confined space.

AMAZING BUILD! Thx for sharing. Love the double side doors!
Thanks K W! Yeah, I'm in love with those double side doors too. They work well if you want quiet time and you're at a meetup or gathering you can just close the one facing the crowd and tend to your own business while still taking in nice views. I've also moved a large 220V standup air compressor in that little isle between the doors, so there is some ease of hauling as well. Take care.
This guy do look so retro..dun really like the van but the gal is so pretty
If Jamie runs a candle in the grooves of his sliding doors it will make them slide easily
I'll try that since the doors are a little sticky. I was planning on reading the sprinter forum about rebuilding the latching mechanisms as well. Since it was in San Antonio for most of its life, I believe the grease dried out. Thanks for your inventive tip! I'll let you know how it goes.

Great video Jamie! I didn't Vankooz provided some inspiration for your build. I should buy a dual sliding door T1N... oh wait!
Hey Michael! Thanks...the VanKookz really know how to polish up a nice tour in the end. Of all the vehicles I've purcahased, I've never regret making mechanical upgrades if the original integrity of the design is intact and especially if there is a rarity to the specific model. Nuts and bolts and $$$ can really make a lifetime ride and offer peace of mind in the long run. Right now, it is a thorn that you'll have to remove and it just takes time to be back in the main frame of where you are heading. You'll get there though. I have no doubt about that! Thanks for chiming in and best of luck today!
Hey Michael! I didn't know you were on the YT, got a sub from the Kookz! Thanks for watching and we will see you out there!

The video title says the bam had a shower. So I expected a bathroom of sorts inside.
Yeah sorry.. nope.
The van has a pipe (like a hose pipe) on the rear outside. Good luck with that in winter.
Still a nice van. Just... let's keep the video titles accurate!
Jurgen Ruppel Thanks for watching! Well Technically you can just drive away to the south and never experience the winter. Thats definitely a shower if you ask 99% of real vanlifers not the fake ones posing on Instagram. Plus some people like myself prefer cold showers, they are very beneficial to your health.
@@Vankookz.
Lol at the "Drive south and outrun the winter challenge:!
And re the shower... I hear you on that. As long as the setup suits you, and you're happy. Peace! ;-)
The water heater takes 10 minutes to be hotter than you'd like it. The shower curtain is simple to hang if needed. This is more of an outdoorsy, rural adventure van, than an urban van where showers are generally within reach at rec centers, gyms, climbing gyms, ymca, friends, etc. But...you might have a different lifestyle need, so yes, this isn't ideal for everyone. Thanks!
Awesome van mu dude
Thanks Jim Bob! Glad you like it.
wondering how tall this guy is, the amount of floor/ceiling insulation, and if he has head room
Hi Jacob. Good questions. A lot of this is shown in my early photos on peacelovenvanlife IG, where you can see me installing the floor. I'm just shy of 6'2" and when standing up straight, my hair will touch the ceiling. On the rugs, or with shoes, even more so, so I barely make the cut. The floor has 4 mm marine ply with 3/8" T&G engineered wood flooring installed with a layer of construction adhesive between the two. There were battens in the low spots between the ribs in the floor to level out the 4 mm sheet. The previous owner's ceiling ply was cut out, insulation left intact. I then slide a 3/16" 4'x12' sheet of birch into grooves on the upper cabinets. It is just floating up there with the max fan flange holding it from sliding back, and the front overhead storage panel keeping it from sliding forward, and the recesses on the sides of the cabinets keeping it in the vertical plane and side to side. Since there are only light weight snap in puck lights, it works. I did my best to reduce the stack up of materials in the vertical dimension since I knew standing height was going to be very close, and that it is. The T1N's are at least 4" shorter in that dimension than the '07's and up, and there is a super high roof for really tall people post T1N. So, no proper insulation under the floor, and 1" thick between the structural ribs in the roof and down the walls. The Webasto Air Top 2000 keeps it comfortable. I've felt fine in the summer as well. I'm more of a follow the sun nomad, so this should suffice for my plans. Hope that answers your question.
I like his ‘seventies’ look,.....better than today’s ‘skin head’ styles !.... the 70’s were fabulous!
Hey thanks! I'm fond of the 60's and 70's culture too :-)
Slow down Son..... Nice van. 👍
We did two tours that day, and I was living on coffee...;-)

Yeah, Jamie has some awesome ideas on this buildout.
I didn't see a link to the sprayer you use for your shower, although I did hear you say you got it from Amazon. Would you mind sharing that link, please?
Here you go. The only issue I've found is needing to have ample space behind the nozzle so it can slip out of its socket. I have an access hole behind the nozzle to allow for a proper service loop of the stainless hose. This also allows me to help feed the nozzle out when I want to use it since the housing is compact. @@peacelovenvanlife9950 Thanks so much for the quick response. 😊🍻
What was the brand/model of the diesel van heater? Under passenger seat.
Great Concepts of your build.
Thank You
I think it’s a webasto
It's the Webasto Airtop 2000. Still going strong! There is some instruction (dec 18 post) on IG peacelovenvanlife for this heater. I'd buy it again.
A beautiful, thought-throw living space. I am wondering with all the solar & electrical set-ups in the van, what kind of Electric Magnetic field is it creating? I'm especially concerned about sleeping over all those electronics.
Thank you. Shari B asked a similar question down a ways, so I'm going to repost this one. "It is an interesting question. I don't know much about this, but always thought it was the flow of electrons that create the magnetic fields as well as RF signals. I shut off the RF when the cradlepoint mbr900 router is switched off with the inverter since that is a large 4000 Watt pure sine inverter and I expect that puts out some emfs. The step downs create minor magnetic flux, so perhaps some testing will ensue when I'm an idle vanlifer :-). I'd love to know more. Thanks for the good question. I'll have to look deeper into this. If anyone knows...please chime in. I did go with a propane stove to avoid any emfs from inductive cooktops. I feel pretty sensitive to the society we live in, especially in the burbs with satellite dishes, smart meters, cell phones, router and blue tooth humming all around. I do want to explore time away from as much man made rf/emf as possible when I get in the van and head out."
You’re a North County guy?
Deben habilitar mas solares asi de grandes para mas gente que quiera irse a vivir en vans, las rentas estan muy caras.
Just wondering if all that battery power under the bed could interfere with your body while sleeping?

@Patriot Jefferson Thank you. I read up on these and did see EMF measurements near the cook top at much higher levels than farther away. I prefer cooking over flame, so the Ramblewood gas stove worked out well for me.

Actually not like a microwave at all
thats cool!
Thanks! Can't wait to drivelongroad soon too ;-) Have some happy times in adventure land!

You are so handsome!
Thank you! You're sweet!
Did you insulate the van at all ? Nice van build .
Hi Bob, Since the van came with floor to ceiling carpet, I kept the walls intact and only moved some of the existing wires around, while preserving the existing insulation. So, the walls and ceiling are insulated. Thanks for your question and compliment.
The fire extinguisher is too close to flammables IMO... TP there for extra pooof!!?//
Nice build tho
SOmetimes you gotta go out in a bang!
Ok what kind of batteries does he have again?
Some type of old tesla or something out of an old electric car. He knows his stuff when it comes to solar and batteries.
Hi , I'm curious what inverter you use for your electric hob and whta boiler you use .Thanks
I'm using a Conext SW 4048 that I purchased from Inverter Supply. Very happy with everything. It goes through a startup sequence, and seems like it is defective...you just have to turn it on by pressing inverter enable. I'm bad with directions ;-)

Thanks for your inquiry. I only turn the water heater on before I shower in the winter, but it is a good load dump when we're making hay!
Would wax help the sliding doors (on top edge and bottom edge)?
Hi Stacy,
A couple others below mentioned melting a beeswax candle into the tracks. I also had another fellow at a meetup mention that if there is much play when opening the door and lifting the rear end of the door, the bearing might need to be replaced. I want to read through the Sprinter-Forum and likely remove the door and rebuild the mechanism since this van is 17 years old, and I'm sure has some deferred maintenance on these moving parts. Thanks for your suggestion. I'll follow up after I'm able to take care of this although it will likely be in a couple months since I'm trying to get on the road. I post my maintenance and fixes on IG peacelovenvanlife for reference.
These two are so sweet, it hurts my heart to see this build, I guess If your Having fun that all that matters. I need to know how you guys afforded to pay for this?
I restored a few vintage VWs and took the profits, plus the sale of my older VW bus I used to travel in and restored that to give me the cash to buy this. The VW bus sold for nearly twice what I paid for the Sprinter...crazy, huh?
@@peacelovenvanlife9950 weird, i wrote this comment to another build. they spent $200,000 on a van that isn't functional. This is a sweat ass build, im envious that you could find room for your surfboard. your build warms my heart.
@@mikewagemann4129 Thank you so much Mike! My van was $26k with 5984 miles on it in 2018. It came with original paint, the double door slider option as well as 2 Fiama Awnings and an auxiliary heater, new tires and new battery. For all this, I felt like it was a sweet deal. The batteries were virtually free since they came out of the gray electric bug parked behind the van in the tour, and the rest was really just time and materials, of which the time to learn and build was a joy. I don't think you need more than 10K to build out a nice van...it really is the design that makes them so pleasant to experience, which is your sketch time. Good luck if you are seeking one of these for yourself.
12 thousand kilowatt?! Why?! How long will that take to charge up with one panel on the roof?
It's actually 12KW. My mistake. I don't know the answer to that. Sorry. There are 4, 180 Watt Solar Panels. It struggles in the winter months, especially in the Pacific Northwest. However, I believe the system is ideal for my needs based on already having owned the batteries.
All good. That's still a pretty hefty power system though.
@@jumonjii Yeah...I believe I may have an issue with one solar panel, and still need to install a volt meter in clear view to better understand since it is not performing as well as it did when I installed it. I leaned toward overbuilding this aspect of the van since it is something I rely on for many reasons. Thanks for your comments.
I don't have a clue how any of that all works, but I like that your 12KW system takes up less room than car batteries that people usually use. And their systems usually aren't anywhere near 12KW.
Or I'm watching the wrong videos... hahaha
Jamie, as you already have diesel, did you consider and Webasto or Wallas cooktop?
Hi Susanne. I did not consider those options. Have you had success with either? I will look them up now that you mention them. After setting this van up, I realize my idea of being conservative with certain large purchases was more focused on keeping the budget down, versus exploring new options and being thoroughly informed during the design phase. I'm happy with the build out, although I did learn a few tips that I would approach alternatively if the opportunity presents itself again. Thank you for making me aware of these.
I have looked into them both. They are quite expensive and pretty slow to heat up, but there’s no open flame and no need for a second fuel source in a diesel van. I haven’t decided yet but would probably go with the Wallas, which has a setting for higher altitudes, which is apparently an issue with the cooktops. You probably have plenty of battery storage for an induction cooktop.
@@susanneward7029 Hi Susanne, I looked up the Wallas, but I didn't see a whole lot of information. There was a review on youtube and a couple comments mentioned something like 16 minutes to heat up. Also without the open flame, it seems pointless to use combustion, and yes, I'd just go with induction if altitude was an issue. I tend to be more of a warm weather person, so I might venture up, but I'll always head back towards sea level. Thanks for mentioning these...now I'll know if I run across one to check into it further. Happy travels.
Yes, I watched the hughtube videos about his Wallas. It took an unreasonable time to heat up the kettle. T5 Travels shows a completely different experience, with the kettle coming to a boil in 4 1/2 min. All I know is that it’s very expensive...
Whats the brand of fresh water glass tank?
Cal-Mil 1733-3 3 Gallon Square Glass Beverage Dispenser
Cool van. How tall is he?
Tall enough to stand in a T1N so under 6 foot for sure!
I'm about 6'1.5" The floor is about 3/8 engineered hardwood flooring. The ceiling is 1/4" Without shoes, I'm fine. With shoes, standing straight, I can touch the ceiling.
As a caveat to everyone just because it has low miles on a service vehicle doesn't mean it hasnt been idled to death .i bought an old fbi van that only had 40k and when the engine blew at 150k the engine remanufacture mechanic said it probly had more like 250k on it from being idleing for so long .only good thing is it was walled in ballistic material i made 5 grand off of taking it out and selling
Great points.
Correction :) 2:37 with 4 tesla battery banks makes 12 kwh instead of 12000 kwh i believe 12000 watt :) however nice concept
Yes....this is a good catch...I would be hovering with 12000 kwh. It is a 12kwh battery bank.
How can I get a fbi van ?? Were did you find that ??
The intrawebs
Van Kookz I meant is there a site that sells them or hard to fife vehicles ??? I’m having trouble finding vans that others get. No dealer I have found is selling vans you can stand in older then 2017. I’ve been to 30 dealers in two weeks .
