Enjoyed watching this, back in 2008 I wanted a Corsa VXR but the boot wasn't big enough to keep the ball +chain happy. Ended up with the Arden blue Astra which was a rocket compared to anything I'd had before. Now driving a Mean Green Fiesta and it's a perfect wee car 👍

You need to mention the Corsa VXR was known for having a toffee Gearbox. Thats why tuning them is so risky. Even though the engine is forged you are still left with the typical Vauxhall gearbox. Wasnt just the Corsa VXR VX have toffee gearboxes but the later Astra VXR. Shame because i love the look of the Corsa VXR. I had a silver Nurburgring when i was younger and absolutely loved it, and i never had an issue with mine but was just the concensus over forums i visitted that the gearboxes were a problem. Great video though love to see the comparison it should help youngens when they come to buying their hothatches because these are the two best imo.

I owned an Astra VXR from new and I repair gearboxes for a living. 43000 miles before a bearing set was required. The actual gears and syncro rings are decent though. These cars do need a Quaife though,1st thing I done after initial run in period.
@@andrewstevenson6540 When mine eventually went to VXR head quarters after having 2 new gearboxes and a new fly wheel inside 8 months, with its discs kept wharping i was finally told the earlier models had issues. They lied to me initialy and tried to tell me it was my "driver style" which in fact i was merely using it to do motorway miles primarily i didnt drive it hard at all. But as i said Vauxhall finally admitted to be that the gearboxes and brakes in the first models had issues. Not sure what inside was the problem but when it came back from VXR head quarters the problems myseriously went away!.

I would never own a corsa again because of head gasket issues and it just put me off .... HOWEVER the rear end on them corsa vxrs I think look amazing ! Much nicer than the fiesta st and I have a fiesta st2 myself in white .
Corsa cheap fimsy always engine problems. fiesta much better quality car
What year was yours please? I've heard 2015/2018 models vauxhall corrected these issues eg head gasket 4th chocolate piston etc ?

I brought them from eBay mate but I don’t think they sell these exact ones any more with the stitched ST logo
Not sure how true this is but I was told the fiesta st has forged pistons from factory
They’re not forged they’re just stronger overall

What kinda money was forging the Corsa ? I have an astra j i would like to forge. Im guessing wossner pistons and pec rods ?
Forging was £2300 Wossner pistons pec rods etc from Rusty Autos
To do that on vxr take esp off budddy😅

We’ll line them up for a drag race once the vxr is mapped will be a stage 2 vxr v stock ST but still good to see how the stock ST will perform as its already impressive 👌🏽

@@callumhenstock8734 the fiesta is better on Neely everything but not buy much
The engine has stronger pistons
But my vxr has B8 shocks and uprated spring so ride is better than the st stock is very stiff
My st180 is just being forged by rusty autos now
I don’t think the blow of valve will be helping on the corsa because of the way the maf works. get an upgraded recirc and remove it would be best. if it’s only running 140 on a standard map somethings not right.
Yeah I was planning to remove it and get an airtec intercooler but not 100% sure yet 👌
@@shifting_gearss definitely would recommend removing it. i had a forge intercooler on mine and got myself a new radiator and kept temps good. you will definitely want one when it comes to a new turbo and a map
I’ll most likely get one in the future but the TXAutosport one should be fine for now
Na it’s the pistons he running low compression piston like I am and I’ve got the same problem
