I think there are 2 issues, building on seafront which blocks views of the sea, and loosing some key attractions like the pier, observation platform and the monorail, which would have meant it was different and would attract people. I can imagine a town planner thinking this newer format looks better, but missing the fact it needs to be different to attract people
I lived in North Wales for 20yrs its a beautiful country. I have fond memories i use to come here from Worcestershire when my kids were 6 &7 thy are now 4t&46 time flies . Then i met someone who was from North Wales .. my. Late parents use to come along.so my memories of Rhyl are good.
Most of the events are in August, free out door concerts and of course the air show, but sadly is cancelled this year due to the red arrows not appearing...
so many of our sea side towns are just run down and out of date, but our weather dont help .people want warm sunny days on there hols and it just dont happen here
Sorry but the most depressing, Ugliest and and worst place outside of North Korea has to be Borth in North Wales. Wales is beautiful and Rhyl has it's issues but it is Las Vegas compared to Borth.
It looks like a nice, quiet place. I agree that there is potential there for it to be more.

True, and it doesn't help when councils update the seafront and ruin it.
I have got photos of the boating pool paddling pool and roller rink the good old days when I was about 8 years old
Hopefully this brought back a few memories
Used to go there in the 60s, it was a wonderful holiday resort, it's a shame.
It is a big shame
drive through rhyl, don,t stop its a dive.
Beaches are fine, just the resort itself
