You should have used a woolly mammoth instead of a fuzz factory, it has more low end, it's also the one ian used.

Ya there’s not too much distortion in the first place so he probably played through it like Ian does

okay nice. i started learning this song and was already annoyed by picking the intro. but strumming seems like a good idea to avoid that.
Dont stop learning!:D the intro actually is one of the most fun part to play in the song, try strumming it instead of picking it. Will be easier and will have a much better sound aswell! ;)
