My head canon is that Batman already uses a milder version to aid his recovery from both training and missions, turning low-key superhuman. Somewhat like how a milder version of the Hulk serum leads to Captain America.

Yeah I like this interpretation, after all why would batman have his trump card be something as obvious as a kryptonite spear?! Especially since he had kryptonite breath hidden all along.

For Everyone asking this is from Dark Knights metal. Basically each universe has a batman that has either powers of different justice league members or powers to kill them super quick ...lol... It's a good series and worth the read. Much more happens but don't want to spoil it.

The interesting thing about the devastador, is that he can consciously chose his adaptations and could reshape his surroundings using the doomsday spores to his liking, its the spores laced whit kryptonite that killed this respective batman's earth superman (with the bone growth through his organs&tissues), who has completely lost his morality and Batman was forced to kill him with his true final contingency plan the devastator protocol(a fanmade name i gave to this use of the doomsday virus/spores) i also feel realy bad for this "evil" batman due to the circumstances that forced him to become a monster(doomsday)and how it was truly his only choice to stop superman's sadistic rampage that treatened all human life was to become a even greater treat to humanity and earth itself and slowly started to lose his humanity and emotions, due to the mental aspects of the doomsday virus on his mind
and that he genuinely believed he could protect humanity from superman by infecting them with the doomsday virus
so that they could just mob him if he tried anyting like the one we see the devastator do in the explsnatiom& what the dialogue implies
Superman: "And what do you have, Bruce? A spear?"
Batman: "I have contingencies."
“I have a spear because I want you to look at the spear. That way when I suddenly morph into doomsday you’ll be extra surprised!”

@Jupiter eh... Lex is Jealous for sure, but he's also a narcissist. He is like the richest person in the world, and one of the smartest if not the smartest person in the world. Which he believes entitles him to be the most powerful person in the world. He realizes the evils he's done and how power has corrupted him. His vanity makes it difficult for him to believe there could be someone like superman who is so powerful, more powerful than him, and not be corrupted by the power. When Lex himself is already corrupt.

@Jupiter I don't see it that way. Sure he may be jealous, but that doesn't necessarily mean Lex wants Supermans powers and I don't think I phrased it that way at all. The way I see it is, that Lex is jealous of Superman for how good and incorruptible Superman has been. I don't necessarily believe Lex wants Supermans powers at all.

I see. So the verdict is that Batman, even with kryptonite weapons at his disposal, could never touch Superman. Obviously. So the only thing that can touch and kill Sup is Doomsday. With that, kryptonite and the element of surprise, Bats can take down Sup. But still, it is just too easy. Collecting a sample from Doomsday body, making a virus from it that can work on a human body and tranform it into the exact copy of Doomsday as fast as Bruce (no, the other Bruce) turning into Hulk. Too good to be true.
Batman definitely plays Chess. Batman IS the strongest DC character.
That's why the stupidities of DC comics are a billion times more stupid than those of dragon ball super 😂😂😂😂.

its technically not a fully fleshed out story? this is one part of a series called dark knights metal and each one has an end of the world scenario that plays out involving batman and various other characters. to avoid spoiling too much, think of what happened to batman here. The other parts follow similar patterns, but, are still worth the read.

Dark storyline here. The problem with superman is that his abilities make him overconfident and lazy. Batman on the otherhand relies primarily on outwitting all his opponents, even when in combat. He is the master detective.
