after finishing the game I can say, he absolutely killed it as ardyn, his voice was so damn threatening by the final stretch and really sold how great a villain ardyn was. XV has serious plot issues but man did ardyn as a stellar antagonist salvage so much.
"Small part in the Final Fantasy universe" my butt! _Easily_ the best voice acting in the game and one of the best villains in the series to date. I was on the fence about buying FF15, but his performance is what persuaded me into getting it. Now Ardyn's my favorite character in the game hands down.

He's definitely getting his own DLC, so it's a start.

every time I hear Ardyn's laugh in the game I get shivers down my spine. The good kind though. This voice actor is INCREDIBLE and so good for Ardyn, I'm so happy because I was worried about the english voices but they all fit so well

With the minor complaints I have about the game, Ardyn was an absolute high point. Easily top3 villian in the franchise.
Behemothokun I agree, my only complaints with the game was really how the combat doesn't require any skill or strategy to get through, healing items break the game as well, and the story felt like there was a lot cut out, and a lot of the side quests just felt like generic mmo style fetch quests, loveddd bounty hunting though
yeah, I mostly agree; by biggest nit-pick in regards of hunts is that you can only accept one at a time, so especially in the end game when you try to do ALL the things, going back and forth from the restaurant to the mobs is annoying. I rather accept all the ones I feel like doing and then go on a hunting spree and return them in bulk.
The combat is also really easy when you learn to just hold the dodge and only attack when there is an opening. . . except when you suddenly face off against an enemy where that dosn't work at all like the boss from the sewer dungeon near insomnia.
I also think it's unfortunate that they seem to forget about almost all the characters after some point, except the main four and Ardyn, which are arguably the most important but it's a shame that they only really name drop certain ones. Some characters are only seen once like most of the people on Niflheims side except that one cutscene between chapter 2 & 3. you only encounter Loqi and Caligoli (or something like that) again in a side quest for example
Behemothokun and the load times/ car rides are long as hell lol
Darin de Paul as Ardyn basically stole the spotlight from Noctis. He IS the Final Fantasy
What Darin said about villains being the hero of their own story... O.O This is so great and will definitely give Ardyn so much more depth because you'll totally be able to understand his motives! I'm so exited!!

Ardyn is the only reason I am prefering english VA over japanese VA..he is soo amazing!
+Moon Strife he really is! A true artist fully enjoys digging into the role and becoming the character, and that speaks volumes of how seriously he took his time in the booth, I'm even more excited to see the film now!
after playing the game I can finally say that I completely agree with you. the japanese VA sounds way less "oily" and mischievous, but that's what I like most about his character.

The thing with Final Fantasy is that the final boss is usually big, scary and intimidating. But Ardyn is just a human. He's just someone who wants revenge on the line of Lucii and the crystal. Darren did an incredible job.

Wow, before this video, I was always interested in Ardyn. But after this, I'm stoked to see Ardyn's story unfold even more.

If anyone is oily, Ardyn is. He's like a fresh olive oil. He has the right balance of fruity and bitter that as an audience you can tolerate, and he is so well refined (like his first scene with Noctis), but as a character, you know something's definitely up with him from the start. Ardyn's character was done incredibly well, and that's not just a credit to Darin (which is still deserved), but all of the voice actors who played him in various languages (Special shout out to French Ardyn, Arnaud Leonard).
I become so speechless when I watch this video, so happy! Your interview with Mr. de Paul really makes me more curious about Ardyn, really can't wait to play the game and meet Ardyn there!!

yep, main antagonist of the game and one of the most unstoppable antagonists in the franchise to date.

**MAJOR STORY SPOILERS**
He gets everything he wants in the end. He wanted to end the Lucian line, the crystal, and he did want death. And that's what happens, he gets it all. While some may argue that he wanted the darkness to continue to rein over lucis, that was the demon side of him. The parts of him that were still human wanted it end, he wanted his revenge and he wanted death.
Other than him actually achieving what he wants in the end, he's an incredible character that constantly messes with you, taunting you in the final battle about failing to save Luna and Regis, constantly reminding you that your friends could be dead when you run to the crystal, and he's just so.... perfect as a villain. You love him and you hate him. We need arydn Dlc so badly
