The issue of southern-based teams playing in the National League North will continue as long as we have a non-league pyramid where three of the four feeder leagues to step 2 are composed mainly of clubs located south of Birmingham. In an ideal world this wouldn't be a problem - you join the National League, the clue's in the name - but as things stand it places sides from a certain part of the country at a real disadvantage because of the travelling costs they incur. As supporters of Bishops Stortford this season - and perhaps Needham Market and Chesham United next season - will confirm.
Thanks Richard, the problem is that we need to draw a line somewhere to divide north and south and the higher up the pyramid you go the more travelling you have to expect to do
Well done Matt , enjoyed the videos all season but done miss the rain and greyness. Yes you might be bias as a Gills supporter but we do have a soft spot for the Chats as we play them most preseasons UTG 😊 Ps will you give your opinion on the new Gills management when it happens and how Gills will go next season, regards from Perth Western Australia 🇦🇺
As for southern based teams going into the North, Oxford City, Borehamwood perhaps if they're up there. Good that Worthing lost as they're our closest journey as an eastbourne fan at an hour. Problem is with us, is that everyone is miles away. Every journey apart from Worthing is an 1 hour and a half plus. So it would've been nice to see Hastings or Lewes go up, based on rivalry and a geographical aspect. Besides they were telling us lot we're going down and they're going up. What a game at Worthing aswell, cracking goals. We did the double over Braintree and got pummeled by Worthing twice, footballs a funny game. Great vlog as usual, and perhaps you could do predictions to non league divisions when of course most signings have been made.
Thanks Pyro, you even lost Dartford and Dover which are localish, I am thinking about doing to preview shows for all 3 National Leagues in the summer 👍🏻⚽️
@mattthegroundhopper9242 Good stuff. Yeah shame, geographically being far away from most sides has its pros and cons. You'd think we'd get players from Brighton and Crawley. But they don't want anything to do with us
Chatham had the home tie because they finished higher in the league, Chatham (2nd) were home in the semi Final against Horsham who had finished 5th, Enfield Town (3rd) had been at Home to Wingate & Finchley (4th) in their SF.
@@mattthegroundhopper9242 I squeezed right passed that old main stand to find a decent view in front of the two step metal terrace. The Bauvill Stadium could not handle 3,000 well at least Bauvill is an easy redevelopment with plenty of space.
Can't believe we threw it away on literally the last match of the season. Still though, proud of them for what they achieved. Next season though! Thankfully no Hornchurch to deal with.
You'd think so. They're talking as if they're gonna push again next season, so I hope so. The teams coming down don't strike me as that good, especially Dover who have nose dived into oblivion.
Haven’t caught any of your Gillingham videos yet though, cos your non league ones always pop up in my recommended videos, I have been subscribed for a little while now though, so will eventually get round to some, but they are your club you support, so I would expect you to be biased in them
Gutted for them, my aunt & uncle live in Gillingham, so have always watched out for them & Chatham & always want them to both to do well, personally I don’t find you too biased, you do seem to be neutral when I watch your vids
Well done Enfield see you next season. Matt you are a Chats fan, so not exactly a neutral ground hopper. At Least you won't have to come to Bridge Avenue again next season.
No point going up when they are not ready otherwise it will smash their confidence back down. The trouble is they pick managers on their previous history like playing football etc but when all is said and done it still boils down to motivating players and drawing their instimct to bond and find a way even it appears to be none. The best chance to move leagues is too be like an albatross and once they take flight they glide and stay up for a long time. Gills and chats fell apart when they lost their morale due to the management. .
Would love to see you do one of those early preliminary round FA Cup ties to kick off next season
Thanks David, providing the draw falls a certain way, any club you would recommend?
the town are going up ole ole
At least ‘a town’ got promoted 👍🏻
Don’t you know pump it up the town are going up 🔵⚪️🔵⚪️
I kept hearing that song the other day
TOWNER GOING UP OLE OLE 🔵⚪️
Thanks Sammy 😣
@mattthegroundhopper9242 to be honest though chatham has had an amazing season and I am sure you will go up next season
you smell odd at enfield games mate
@SammyManel talking to you btw
Yeah, wasn’t a 3-0 game, was a 4-0 ;)
Great vid. I think Chatham will be right back up there again next year.
Haha, very good, I was told the disallowed goal was a dodgy decision but I couldn’t tell from my angle
Thank for the vids , a good watch every week , something I`d like to do myself , see you next season UTFT
Thanks for your comments, UTFT? … Everton?
@@mattthegroundhopper9242 I am , for my sins
Congratulations to Enfield.
Chatham - Hard cheese!
There's always next year.
Thanks Arthur, being a footy fan can be so painful 😣
@@mattthegroundhopper9242 I support st mirren. So I am well accustomed to disappointment and misery. It's all part of fun.

I like the club crest and logo of Chatham. Very martime!
It is from the famous Chatham Dockyard, it used to be a big naval town back in the day ⚓️⛵️

Thanks Brian, new Gills manager Mark Bonner ……. erm 🫤……. hmmmm …. 🫤 ….. ooooh, not much to say really apart from being a tad underwhelmed
Matt has been on hand a few times recently to record playoff heartbreak.
Might have to ban him from the next one lol
I always predict the score wrongly

Silly question probably, but why was the play off final played at Chatham's ground?
until you get to the national league the final of the playoffs are just played at the team who finished higher in the leagues ground
Chatham had the home tie because they finished higher in the league, Chatham (2nd) were home in the semi Final against Horsham who had finished 5th, Enfield Town (3rd) had been at Home to Wingate & Finchley (4th) in their SF.
Perfect answers already 👍🏻⚽️
Thanks 😊
I went to enfield town semi-final match Wednesday just gone and they
Best Wingate and Finchley 1-0
Yes, set themselves up nicely for the final 👍🏻⚽️
Enfield the better team on the day - the score-line says it all. Took their chances and it should have been 4-0 but for a dodgy decision.
Yes I completely agree 👍🏻
Another good vid Matt….looked like a decent atmosphere …how many more games are you covering this season?
Thanks Jeremy, that could be my last, I will have a look at the remaining fixtures, we will see 👍🏻⚽️
Chatham Town missed how many chances in the first half oh well next season.
Missed opportunity, they will be under huge pressure next season

Surely they will be one of the favourites for next season

Thanks Stephen, the Gills videos are spread throughout the season home and away, I try and see as many away games as possible 👍🏻⚽️
Oh no does that mean they have to play Dartford next season
The only silver lining for Chatham Town is that they now get to play Dartford and Dover in some Kent Derbies 👍🏻⚽️
the chats will learn from this season matt.hope to se you at lewes next season
Thanks Clive, I would like to visit Lewes again 👍🏻
Gutted for them, my aunt & uncle live in Gillingham, so have always watched out for them & Chatham & always want them to both to do well, personally I don’t find you too biased, you do seem to be neutral when I watch your vids
