..apart from the technology, the self-etched circuit boards and the recommended magazines, even the self-built cases remind me of my first steps in electronics when I was in my early 20s - thanks for the flashbacks
Thank you for sharing❤ love it me lady much love to you and your husband and family I wish you a happy happy 2025 love your project you did a very good job 👌💯👏👏👏 and thank you for teaching ☺️ you're a great teacher.
Wow. Didn't the magazine test this before they published it to make sure it worked? Also. I'm surprised that a class D amp needs fans considering hoe efficient they are.
Well, I am certain that my PS was built correctly and it actually worked but under load it dropped to only 40 volts. I went over it many times to convince myself. Anyway, it's done for me and I probably won't go back to it. I put the fans in there as the PS got really hot at first before I knew it was no good. Cheers!
@bettinaneumryr have you ever tested that with a distortion analyzer? Early class D amps weren't great in that regard but the latest ones are outstanding. I saw one recent class D amp where if there was any harmonic distortion it was in the noise floor so it was undetectable from noise.
That isolation transformer, is that in a home made case too? I have been looking for more ways to make more of my own cases for my gadgets and things that make other projects work.
@bettinaneumryr Oh, Hammond! I've heard of them. I might even have some equipment in a Hammond case. That's a good tip, I was about to forget about just doing it with conventional tools. I can either find someone with a sheet press, or whack some blocks of wood together. I knew there was a good reason to save those PC case side panels
The design of this thing as published is absolutely horrendous. I thought non isolated power supplies went out with tube amps in the 60s, but in any case they can be deadly. No output filtering so it will generate a ton of interference and no DC protection circuitry so if the oscillator fails for any reason the speakers expire in a puff of smoke.
This design has been known to be...questionable...for many years. IIRC,someone even admitted that it was published as a joke (It's the APRIL issue, right?). I remember looking at this issue for a few days, way back when, trying to figure out WTF was going on in power supply section.
Do you find it frustrating to create content that bring a lot of subscribers. Most of my subscribers is family and friends that i have to bribe to give me more views 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Hi ... no .. I bought it. It is made by Hammond. However, if you have the tools to bend sheet metal you could do it.

Iv got electronic magazine since 1978.....alot
Keep them .. they are like gold!
Why not play classical music? Would give a better idea of the performance. Nice project.
I googled if I could play Bach and it said no. It is because a philharmonic played it and it most likely was copyright.
@@bettinaneumryr Ahh that makes sense...surely there has to be royalty-unencumbered music out there!

Hey .. you might be onto something! At least the amplifier part works with an external power supply. Cheers!
