Good call taking Bo back to the truck when showing signs of hypothermia. My Pointers had the same issue last year in North Dakota. The labs and setters had no problems with the cold and wind. I bought dog coats for the pointers. Super dog work! That’s how it’s supposed to be.
Just when I reach my limit of picking burrs out of my griff, I see poor Bo hurting like that, and maybe I appreciate my griffs coat a little more. Great video as always.
I hope you understand how lucky you are to live in a place that still has wild birds. I live in California and our wild birds are down 90 percent in the last 10 years. I hunt pen-raised birds and it's not even the same sport. What you are doing is bucket list material for me.
I recently found your RUclips channel when you did that show The Flush which was the last hunt you had with your buddy Craig. That was a very emotional show. I tracked down your RUclips channel Birds, Booze and Buds and immediately subscribed! When your dog got so cold that really got to me. Living in Washington state we never see temperatures that cold. I see some guys putting a neoprene jacket on their dogs, i wonder how effective they are? Have you ever tried one? Keep your videos coming, i really have enjoyed them so far.
Thank you very much! The vests in my opinion don’t work all that well. Snow gets packed inside them and actually makes things worse. The only thing you can do is keep the walls shorter and keep an eye on them. Pay attention to their body language. This particular day it was 15 degrees with a 30mph wind. It was brutal. The mistake I made was I was in a draw and there wasn’t wind. He was hunting fine until the walk back
Thank you for the response! It is impressive that you are knocking down wild birds with at 28. I think until I get more proficient, I am just going to stick with a 12 lol @@Thewesternwingshooterpodcast
Awesome vids! Makes me pumped for my new pup next month. English Setter. Jess is a beauty!

Thank you for another great video! If you don't mind my asking, which shotgun/s were you using? If you do mind my asking, forget I asked.
