I don't think it is the best argument. A privately run company can do worse and go bankrupt...The difference are the incentives and consequences of your actions within a free market vs a government monopoly. Within a free market, badly run companies or companies which don't please consumers with their products go bankrupt and better companies take their place. And all that without stealing money from the taxpayer. They also try to use their money much more efficiently because it is their money and if they make a mistake it will cost them a lot but government sponsored business don't care because it is the taxpayer money and the government will bailout them when they lose money...

The people of CA and other over-regulated states should PUT FORWARD A BILL TO ELIMINATE ALL REGULATIONS except those VOTED ON AND PASSED BY THE PEOPLE! LET INDUSTRIES AND COMMUNITIES POLICE THE REGULATIONS THEMSELVES. IF-it becomes apparent that something needs to change in an industry, such as selling to minors, (remember when people were selling cigarettes to minors?) The COMMUNITY and Industry can come up with WORKABLE regulations ON THEIR OWN, AND THEN, IF NEED BE, THE PEOPLE CAN VOTE ON IT. Maybe, the problem isn't a problem EVERYWHERE, but only in a small community, so, THAT community puts the NEW regulation up for a vote, not necessarily the entire State or Country. Maybe, it's only 1 County, or 1 city in that area, then THAT area can put that regulation up for a vote in a referendum at the NEXT ELECTION! Too MUCH GOVT CONTROL IN OUR BUSINESSES!! There's a scene in the wire, where a reformed criminal wants to open a gym for the youths. It's pretty much the same situation. It has been this way for a very long time. Imagine how good our countries could be, if only doing things was legal.

Another example of this malicious false altruism is when the big oil companies lobbied for more regulations on underground gasoline storage tanks. They could afford to retrofit their gas stations, but the little independent gas stations often couldn't. If you ever wondered where all the cool little mom and pop gas stations went, that's where, and in that crippling position many were bought out for criminally low amounts.

Here in Nevada, the state government promised that taxes from all the marijuana sales would go to the school district. Immediately after Nevada residents passed the legalization of marijuana the state took the money away that was allocated towards the schools and put it in the rainy-day slush fund of the state. It's unreal.

They make you show I.D. 3 times in what other industry to buy the product? Do you know which cow your milk came from because of individual tracking numbers? Do they not allow kids to see a car being sold? Did the state have to bail out your grocery store due to black market carrot sales? Does it cost 150 million dollars to get licenced to open 6 Jimmy John's? Can you go into detail how this is just like every industry out there? Because your "fun fact" doesn't seem super factual.

@@mattschmitt9924 I said these types of rules. Meaning not these exact rules. But yeah I can give you some examples of regulations crushing normal industries. One example is how a company created 3d printed prosthetic limbs that take a few hours to make and are very inexpensive, but the FDA won't let them sell their products because it takes several million dollars and at least a decade to pass their excessive testing process. How about the firearms industry, there's an additional 25% tax on every rifle and if I remember correctly pistols too. Firearms would all be literally 20% cheaper if not for this one regulation. How about all labor performed by employees? Every worker in the country could get an average of about a 25% raise if the federal government would stop the social security tax, income tax, and the medicare/medicaid taxes. In many states if you want to start a moving company you have to have a "letter of need" which states that the other moving companies are so overburdened that they need another moving company in the mix. Signed by the other moving companies. Now I don't know if you know anything about common sense, but they're not gonna sign that paper, which means that in states with such a requirement it's illegal to start a moving company. I could go on for months about how worthless regulations are killing industries. There are more restrictions on the books than anyone could even stomach to read, especially when you include state laws. The majority of which do nothing to help society and are only there because government got in bed with businesses and created said laws literally for the express purpose of stifling competition.

Just out of curiosity my wife and I were going to check out a dispensary while in Illinois a couple months ago. We don't even smoke weed, but wanted to check it out out of sheer curiosity. The insane level of security and scrutiny before being allowed in was such a turn-off that it made you feel as though you were doing something wrong just by walking in the door. It was an unpleasant experience but I really expect nothing less from the state of Illinois. Lol
