As a victim of domestic violence this really offends me. It feels like a glamourised portrayal of domestic violence. Was she a victim? I know she worked with a charity but what good did putting this out into the world do? It should have ended with her finding the strength to leave - that would have been inspiring rather than triggering and depressing for people who have been through it.
I think the music video was to showcase what it's about to be in an abusive relationship rather being inspirational, I guess that's the point, to show the world what being in an abusive relationship really is.
not everyones experience with DV is the same.. the song portrays the back and forth motions of DV, knowing theyre going to hurt you again but still going back because you want their love and u think theyve changed
This song is about her Mother's relationship with Jesy's father, since for most of her childhood, her dad was in and out of prison. So, Jesy herself has been affected by Domestic Violence.
