When I was growing up in the 70s, this was part of the afternoon childrens' programming on Channel 20. Good times and great memories.
Channel 44
Yeah me and my friends used to watch this after school.
Lol that where I remember it
yep, same on UHF channel 20 in Washington DC in the 70's.

I am 46 years old and I remember watching this show in the late 70’s in El Salvador!! It’s bringing back so many memories of this show!! Thank you so much for uploading it.

As an adult, I am amazed at how many quality TV shows I watched as a child originated in Japan, this one, Speed Racer, Kimba The White Lion, Battleship Yamato, etc.

@@josephbach1 Yes. And I love every seconds of that fight.
@@josephbach1 Yeah I do, the amount of love and effort put into crafting the effects and fight choreography is amazing and genius, even with a TV budget Eiji Tsuburaya and special effects artists were able to create unique stories, monsters and effects.
This show holds up 55 yrs later..the serious undertones, the music ,characters...even the guns seem more futuristic than most movies today.. incredible..channel 17 tristate Philadelphia area...my tv station because of ULTRAMAN

Channel 17. WPHL. 29 & 48 as well. Later 57. That’s where you went for the Phillies & Flyers. All your reruns & Dr.Shock & Creature Double Feature. Great Memories growing up in Philadelphia area
How about that fine grain film stock! When I watched it in 1971 it was of course on an over the air antenna with a late 1960’s tv. Watching it here I’m shocked at the hi-def transfer!
As a child my eyes were glued to shows like this: Speed Racer & Gigantor. Back in the day, these story lines were perfect for kids. And they always had a moral to the story.
And then there were the children's shows: Captain Kangaroo, Ranger Hal (Wash.D.C.) who showed the old cartoons. And even the Bozo cartoon show I'd watch every morning before school.
God,l have the DVD of the complete series..Love this show I remember this from 70's growing up
Speed Racer, Ultraman, and 8 Man, for me.
I was on Ranger Hal once! Did you also watch Pick Temple?
The show that started it all . Thanks, Shout!
Not to mention the great miniatures.
@cjetelomar2010 I more talking about the ultra franchise
Felt that he was gay!
@cjetelomar2010 i think for Ultraman that would be "ultra q" series
Nope, its ULTRA Q
I live in Windsor, Ontario right across the river from Detroit and I used to watch this show on WXON 20 Detroit after school. I also loved Johnny Sokko which was either on the same channel or WKBD 50. I was fortunate to have grown up so close to Detroit in those years, otherwise the only thing I would remember watching was hockey LOL. I remember arguing with my buddies at school, we would argue which show was better, Johnny Sokko or Ultraman lol. Precious memories for sure!
I lived in Grand Rapids, Michigan and also caught it on WKBD. 👍
Great shows! Don't forget Space Giants !
PU
I remember my Uncle and Family lives in Detroit we used to go to Windsor during the Summer we had a Summer Home on the Banks of the Lake So many Memories back then in the 70's Hercules was another Cartoon I used to Watch never knew until now it was Johnny Nash who sang Hercules Theme Song same guy who sang I can see Clearly Now
I grew up near Jackson, MI, in the 1970s, and also remember watching "Ultraman" and "Johnny Sokko" on that Detroit channel. This brings back great memories. I was also happy to see that Marvel came out with an updated "Ultraman" comic that remains faithful to the TV series.
Ultraman, The Space Giants, and Johnny socko and his flying robot were my 3 favorite tv shows as a kid . Watching this show has brought a big smile to my face. Thank you for this 😊. 👍👍
Add speed racer to that list. Lol
Yes sir!
Here I am, grown up, still amazed in this show that I've watched when I was a kid..what amazes me now is the way they do their productions back then, even with little to no CGI, it never gets old (though the vehicle's design looks so retro, it's still cool, and looks functional 😄)..these are classic gold.. 😍
Honestly was always more a Kamen Rider fan but after watching shin ultraman I came here to see what’s up.
CGI didn't become a thing until TRON in 1982. When Ultraman was made in 1966, computers took up large rooms and were programmed with punch cards.
I remember seeing Ultraman for the first time in summer '67, on our first color TV from the then-KEMO channel 20, along with Speed Racer, 8th Man and Johnny Cypher. Good stuff.
Godzilla of the day as I fondly used to call it!
KEMO, KBHK...That's where it was at, back in the day!!! Jonny Cypher?!?!! Thought no one remembered that show!!! Good times!❤❤❤
I don't remember Johnny Cypher but I do remember Astro boy, Speed Racer and Johnny Quest. My God that was so long ago. It would have been around '67 or '68. Our house was a big deal with all the kids because my dad went out a bought......wait for it.......drum roll......A COLOR TV! No other house had one. I have to laugh about that now, but it's good to have those memories. 😊
They used to air Ultraman and the Outer Limits just after. That made us aces at suspending disbelief. Nowadays if there is a bad flare on a CGI frame the whole piece is said to be junk. Hahahaha.
- What strings?
- But they're puppets!
- So?
SAME HERE! 👍🤣! 😱ULTRAMAN! EXCEPT IT WAS IN SPANISH 🤣 67 I STILL WAS BACK IN PUERTO RICO! I WAS 10..WOW!! I EVEN FORGOT ALL ABOUT TILL I SAW !ON UTUBE. MEMORY LANE! INNOCENCE! HIM AND FELIX THE CAT! MY HEROES!
I had an old broken cassette tape mike I gave to my brother in 1971 I slightly doctored up so it would look like the Beta Device Ultraman used to change. Years later he still had it and told me it was the greatest gift he ever got! We weren’t poor and he got some pretty neat Christmas and birthday gifts. It made me tear up,what I thought was just a small gesture on my part had made him so happy. He shows it off to his grandkids!
I remember racing home from school in order to watch this show on Channel 20 when I was in elementary school.
This show was on for me at 6 in the morning, the first show. Back then, the TV slept at night.
@@truthwarrior122 what a way to start the day.
@Bryant Maverick You are the space monster Ultraman would destroy.
I did too and also watch Speed Racer too lol
I watched 'im after school at 3 PM on WDCA 20. On a small black & white GE portable in my dad's den that picked up UHF. The episode about a carnivorous, roaring plant monster freaked me out. Remember that one ? Thanks for this.
My 2 favorite shows in the 70's Ultraman & Speedracer!
👽👍
Amen
Who can forget ultraman
So glad I was born in the early 70s! Got to see ALL the Good stuff growing up! Golden.
One of my favorite childhood shows growing up in the 70s
I just love how they used the Ultra Q logo before changing it to Ultraman. I could only imagine how many people were caught off guard by the surprise.
Not only that but reminder that before Ultraman, it's predecessor series Ultra Q was this weird surreal supernatural sci-fi TV show similar to The Twilight Zone and The Outer Limits. Ultraman(1966) and Ultra Q is such weird shift its like waiting for The X Files Season 2 and Season 2 ended up being Kamen Rider (Though Ultraman still carried it's predecessors tone).
No one was caught off guard, because the hype for "Ultraman" in the media was HUGE, and there was a special episode introducing the new series the week following the last episode of "Ultra Q" and the first episode of "Ultraman." The "Ultra Q" logo was to link the two shows together.
Funny, I don't recall seeing "Ultra Q" AT ALL in my childhood.
@@sdovas
I'm looking it up now. Thought my childhood was complete with all the shows
@@ModSquads Ultraman was a staple of my childhood, like seeing a half hour long Godzilla movie every day, with the coolest looking superhero. Plus, "Sh!t blowed up good." But it was on channel 9 in NYC & that meant it was a syndicated show, and when I finally learned of the existence of Ultra Q it wss years, after the fact & ive yet to easily find the series dubbed into english which seems a clear indication that it wasn't as prevalent in America ( at the time, anyway) as Ultraman was.
I've been watching the episodes elsewhere on RUclips, in the super-low resolution picture and sound I've come to expect from old TV from the 60s.
I never thought I'd EVER see this series in such clarity of image and SOUND! You've done a miraculous job of restoring it!
THIS IS AMAZING!!! Ultraman was the best as a kid! I ran home from school to see the shows. This is so cool to see again! Thanks!!!!
Flames underwater?. WTF....!!! :) Ultraman: one of the greatest superheroes of my childhood
I remember watching this as a grade schooler when it first aired in the US.
Good memories of a simpler time.
The Japanese may have lost WWII, but they made some great science fiction shows!
Man I had no idea how well done this show was!
I like that the telephone ringing sound is the Ghidorah cry
It was created as a ring tone, before it was modified for King Ghidorah, too. A year before the three-headed monster appeared in another Toho movie.
I never missed an episode of this as a child. I absolutely loved this show.
I would run home from school every day so I could catch the full show of Ultraman, followed by speed racer. 70s were the best of times. Thank you for posting this ole classic.
@@barrydemay3348 I was a bit older than grade one. More like grade 5 in 1975. The show didn't air in my area till about hat time. I was born in 1965 so I was around 9 going on ten yrs old.
I grew up watching Ultraman on an old B&W TV. Watching it again over 50 years later shows how much our intelligence evolves over time.
Where’s that?
Everything flew at Mach 5 back in the 60's. This, the Gerry & Sylvia Anderson productions, and more. Man I miss those days of entertainment.
everything except the Mach 5
Watched this as a kid growing up in the 70’s in D.C. It was dubbed back then. I didn’t understand at the time that it was originally in another language. I so wanted to wear one of those uniforms!
Me too. Used to live off the George Washington Parkway from about 70 to 77.
1970, in Athens Georgia...used to watch this on Saturdays...the coolest show as a kid.
I am mexican, (56) and I also grew up watching Ultraman in the 70's, I know for new generations this may not look good for them, but they don't have an idea of how this made your imagination work and fly....it was amazing!!
I cannot believe I watched this show as a kid. Now I am 60 and it's even harder to believe I just watched it again! All the comments about the kid shows of that day (mid 60's to mid 70's) are fantastic.. I watched 'em all. Fantastic memories.

As a young boy in the early 70s I had an "appreciation" for Fuji that I did not know what it actually was, lol. Later to be replaced by Linda Carter as Wonder Woman.
Don't forget Charlie's angels too. I relocated to the US from Vietnam. Learning English from those shows.

I remember a chapter where ULTRAMAN fights against a "Flying eye"...
Greetings from Argentina!!!
Nothing make sense nowadays but those were my childhood memory 😂

My God this brings back memories of my youth.
Excellent now that was a classic show definitely.
1st of all, thank you so much TokuSHOUTsu for uploading a high quality 1st Ultraman which was actually the original airing was the day I was born.
Ok for the sake of argument : If Cosmos or Agul is here, they would not agree to such provocation towards Bemular who was hiding peacefully under the lake until Hayata initiated his Ultra Operation by attacking Bemular while it's sleeping? And awoken in rage only to be attacked from air? It's Ultraman fault really for losing him from the Space Graveyard not even knowing whether the monster still lives.
But again - this is really nostalgic.
Omg. Blast from the past. The late 60's. My brother and I wouldn't miss it after elementary school, lol. I was in love with Hayata 😂.
I remember watching this as a kid in the 70s. So cool
Wow very good definition picture…fun, I watched it as a kid. I’m 65 now…

Another classic was "the wacky races" and if my memory serves me well..the show consisted of Dastardly and Muttly, Penelope Pitstop..
Another classic..lets skatearoo to the next clue as they were "out to win the million dollar prize"
Back in the 60s and 70s kids had great imagination. Even though TV shows may have been extremely corny by today's standards, kids didn't get much for options for TV channels. If we got 2 TV channels that's what we were stuck with to watch while growing up.
An afternoon favorite as a kid in the 1970s, on WPHIL, Channel 17 out of Philadelphia. My dad kept us in the dark about color television until I was 16 (!), so I never knew this series was in color until now. Beautiful print and great fun to see again.
