Wow very nice thanks for sharing! My Shortwave setup is a XHDATA D808 DSP Receiver together with a DESHIBO GA-450 Active loop indoor antenna which I use to pickup Shortwave stations all over the world!
You can safely put a few screws through asphalt shingles, or add some extra asphalt to seal it better. If I put my loop on the roof I'd fry the radio when it gets a lightning strike, so I have to keep it low to the ground. Local laws don't allow antennas, since they put in cable TV, too. You can buy or make a pass-through to feed the antenna wire through the wall. My uncle had a few for his Ham radios. The leaves block the signal somewhat (from the Ham license exam) so you might want to move it to a better place.
for more station, operate your DX radio at night, then you can use the F1 and F2 layers that bounce shortwave signals from other countries around the world. ground your antenna too, that helps.
I've been wanting to setup a loop antenna for my SW radio. I'm not sure how to ground it though. I live in Iowa, so I have to be cautious of lightning.
@@gfonzy also there are tar or rubber pieces. you can use inbetween the netal and roof. fill the holes with the sealant and re-screw. seal the top of the screws, Nice video though im just now getting into raido.
Put some Black Jack sealer over those screws to keep water out. Those screws will let small amounts of water to infiltrate. Over time that will cause the screw holes to rot, and eventually your roof. Put a nice coat of Black Jack across those legs and you will be set. Home Depot, Lowe’s or Menards has it.

Just bought this antenna but having RF issues when I plug it into USB ac adapter. Have battery pack with USB doesn't seem to be an issue. Any idea what the problem could be? Thank you.
A lot of those USB power supplies (because they're switching) are not properly filtered and inject noise into the DC they offer. Its not a problem when you're using it to charge a phone battery. Try another USB supply, the antenna pre-amp isn't the problem.
The seller in China sold me a counterfeit product. After I made a complaint, he first offered me a 30% refund, then 50%. Loops like this are only directional below 4 MHz or so. I only use a rotor on my Wellbrook loop because I listen to medium wave a lot, and doesn't need rotating for most of the signals on shortwave. The MLA-30 behaves similarly.
