As a young person growing up,I used to hear this song from my neighbours radio all the time, how I disliked it....many years later, now, I play it all the time.Idik aiyalama otau ka aipup ka aikosi ekosio lo noi . Brian Kuhl, thanks for uploading this song .
I am etesot from Tororo, I don't want to believe that our numbers have dropped but we are scattered and to a large extent adopted the languages and even cultures of our hosts. The conditions have forced our people into poverty and adoptive survival strategies.
Eyogat engo iteso kere kane ijasi esi soroti, kumi, serere, katakwi, bukedea, ngora, amuria ka eberemaido. God bless you all at most when i listen to this song it touches my heart deep like an electric shock, its only God that we give the glory. Be blessed as you listen
This song reminds me of the hard times then where life was about God ,no one to depend on Every one was for themselves , i rely don't understand how iteso numbers dropped rapidly from 2cond tribe to fifth in Uganda we need some answers from the government security systems that time as many people lost their lives and property .well I thank God that we were not wipped out in uganda however we need to join hands to develop home by sharing one goal May God bless iteso every where they are even some brothers from kenya, southsudan, itoposa, ethiopia and Uganda
this song puts me in tears we hear of what happened, for some of us it pains seeing our ancestors in the graveyard peace to the people of teso turkan karamoja toposa and ngangatom
This song tells me that something wrong occurred before i was born .so it will now encourage us also the new generation to be much aware about the people who may destroy our lives and even its now history from generation to generation

+Moses Opoo Ejakait Opoo, eyalama noi eiwadik. Truly, there are indeed some pictures from Karamoja (and also the north). In a few instances this was intentional to capture images of the LRA conflict and also to show the vast number of cattle taken from Teso into Karamoja. However, the majority of these pictures were taken by me personally in either the Pallisa or Tororo regions (Teso side of Tororo). I lived in Pallisa and my wife is from Teso side of Tororo. In fact, one of the pictures is of my wife herself and some others are of her family members. But I appreciate your close watch of the video. Thank you for your efforts. Kisiriring Edeke ijo noi.
It is unfortunate that the "Langi" lost their Ateker language and adopted the Luo language. You are part of us. Langi was the last cluster of the Ateker people that moved from Ethiopia, finding that most of the land was taken up by the Luo-"Acholi" and you had to fight to get space, conquered most of the Luo lands, took their women and sired children with them. Since they were responsible for raising children and spoke Acholi, the origin language started to diminish and get mixed up with the Acholi until it finally got distorted.
This is awesome. This video nearly made me cry. Hahaha. Wow. I grew up here and I used to sing this song but I was so young I don't think I knew what it meant. This is so sad. Your're right everyone wants to go to the north.UGH. How did you end up putting this up together, If I may ask? I have no Idea what the future holds for me but I hope that I can go back someday and help in anyway.
The fact is ,God gave us the merciful hearts so may be its a gift from God .in addition they have raided, robbed ,looted, killed, destroyed but still we are better compared to them .what we do know is to stand united most especially our leaders both religious and political we ca over come all that

Ochom Eria Obeerei performing "Emonyete Iteso Ican." Ochom was a member of Bukedea Jazz Band, which is organized, directed and trained by Emong Johnson Otinga. Ochom eventually left the band to pursue his own solo career. "Emonyete Iteso Ican" is a remark of a classic Otinga song that was performed at concerts, festivals, and functions while Ochom was a member of the band. Ochom's version of the song is the first to be recorded in a studio. Otinga's version was performed live at functions and recorded directly onto an audio cassette tape. THIS SONG IS INSPIRATIONAL ENOUGHT TO AWAKEN THE ITESOTS' FROM THEIR SLEEPING NATURE OF "ETAPALAUT AKIROO ILOSETE A TEKERIN ACEE NGAREN". SHOW MORE
Mr. Otikal, you are probably correct about the photo, though it is difficult to determine without a date on the photo. Given that the photo looks relatively new, it is probably from Karamoja given the style of dress. Still, it could be from the Iteso of Tororo, who dance very similar to the Karamojong. My wife is an Atesot from Tororo, and the dance focuses on jumping upward and making other movements while keeping the legs straight.
but the Iteso are a sub group of the Ateker people. the picture shown is of Ngakarimojong people.. the Ateker stretch from Ethiopia, Sudan, Uganda and Kenya.
I feel like this song is depressing to listen. Iteso musicians should start composing songs that are uplifting. You can't undo the past, but we (including myself, yes am 100% Atesot) can change our future by setting goals, thinking positively, helping each other, working hard, Loving each other as Iteso, being good role models to our children, take responsibility for your actions, don't blame others for your problems, learn from others, be optimistic about life.and above all complete everything you do to the Lord.
Mr. Ilocha, thanks for the comment. You are probably correct with current statistics, though it is a well documented fact that the Iteso were the second largest tribe in "Uganda" for most of history, up until very recent times (I put "Uganda" in quotes because this statistic would be true going back long before Uganda was officially a country). Iteso growth slowed relative to the other tribes during the late 1980s and early 1990s due to the LRA conflict in the region. As of the 2002 census, I believe they dropped to fifth, though I believe they have now regained some numbers and are probably third. It should also be noted, however, that, had the borders been drawn in a more sensical manner, the Iteso population would not be split between two countries (Uganda and Kenya) and almost certainly would be the second largest tribe in Uganda. Here's are a link to explore on Ugandan ethnic statistics: www.africa.upenn.edu/NEH/u-ethn.html.
