Very encouraging video to watch! Many thanks for all the good information. I have 3 plants coming back in ICU. 😊. Monstera Adansoni, Syngonium Batik and Tradescantia Tricolor. I have high hopes that all 3 will make a good comeback. 🥰. All three had lost their leaves and had to be cut all the way back. Now they are sprouting leaves and growth. It’s always a joy to see hope rewarded and restored. Many thanks for the reminder! 👌🪴🥰
This video found me at just the right time!❤ I have a calathea medallion thats down to its last leaf and I was strongly considering giving up on it. Question for you: to rehab it, do you think it would be better to keep it on a patio in the shade (it’s currently spring and humidity here is very high-70-90%) or in a NW facing frosted window in a frequently used bathroom? The bathroom is where I would like to keep it long term, but I’m wondering if the subtropical summer that we experience would be the best conditions for it to bounce back. Thank you for your calm, straightforward videos! I’m so happy the RUclips algorithm brought me to you. You’re def going to be one of my go-to houseplant gurus from now on ❤
I had my first infestation with spidermites on Caletheas and I treated, treated, then finally thru them away! So sad I paniced and did it. Also I have a husband that loves his shamrock plant and I have tried to toss the pot of dirt out and he wouldn't let me. Then summer hit and it was in full bloom. Plants. They surprise you. :)
You really give me hope right now! I fell in love with a goeppertia warscewizii and bought it even though I’m not very experienced and there are just so many problems 😭 She arrived pressed too tightly into a pot that’s way too small (8 tubers with roundabout 50-60cm growth in a 17,5cm pot). After a recommendation from another youtuber I trust and already having used such a pot I decided to put it into semi-hydroculture so that after it has gotten used to it I can’t mess up the watering much and (almost) no root rot risk. So that’s what I did a few days ago and when I took it out of the rootbound pot I realised that the roots were very bad. Very thin and weak and about 3/4 of them broke off despite me being very gentle when removing and washing off the soil. Very weak roots on a fairly large plant. So now I repotted it and I kind of denied that I have to wash the mineral substrate first. I ended up taking it out again, washing everything and putting it back. That was a hell of a day 😫 I also divided it in three and five tubers because the smaller one will go to my best friend for Christmas as he also fell in love with the plant 🥰 So yeah, now many leaves are curling up, the stems (of the leaves) are turning kinda weak and mushy and falling off. But actually not all! Three tubers still have all of their leaves open and are still standing upright! And when I realise that a leaf is definitely dead I cut it off so that she doesn’t have to waste energy on those. It makes sense that she loses so many leaves because she has very few roots left to feed but it’s still scary 🙈
Thank you for your video I have a stromanthe tricolor that had mealy bugs down to 3 leafs but am not giving up on it. Brought it 2 months ago and we had a very cold winter. I WILL NEVER BUY PLANTS IN WINTER AGAIN! Going to buy another one but I am definitely not going to throw it away now after your video.
Thank you for this video! I have a prayer plant that died down to the dirt... the roots are good though. I've been trying to figure out how to bring her back! We'll see!
My calathea looked horrid when I rescued it (convinced them to sell at a major discount). Of the 4 leaves that weren't dead, 3.5 have died. I checked the roots a month ago and they looked good, but I still have no new growth... how long do I wait?
As long as those roots stay looking healthy, you just keep on waiting. Make sure it’s getting enough light. We’re moving into that time of year where it should start to be more inclined to take off again. The one from this video is now up potted and has about 15 leaves on it, but it certainly took a while to get to that point. Also, seems to depend on the particular variety of Calathea. What variety is yours?
I cut down to 2-3 inch stumps on Begonia Maculata wightii because it was cold damaged ( Lowe's 🙄) & a Begonia Sinbad Pink because when I got it home I discovered Meggie Bugs ( I forgot to look for them before I bought it ) the Maculata took forever, but the Sinbad pushed leaves within the first week.
Not many things can keep those cane begonias down in my experience! I‘ve actually been eyeing a new cane begonia I think I want on Steve’s Leaves website…..

As long as it’s not too hot outside that might be best💚

@@AlohaPlantLife it's a sweet dreams compact star. I'll keep an eye on the roots!
