I haven't taken part in a read-a-thon before, for some of the reasons you bring up: when it's about numbers of books read, I feel like I would just pick shorter books instead of longer ones. Judging by pages read can help, but then again different typefaces and point-size can skew that as well. I won't say I'll never take part, because I do like the idea of setting aside a week for: "this week, my free time will be reading". Making it more about the active decision to read more than usual.
I certainly gravitated towards shorter books! Or books that I knew/had a feeling would be a "simpler" read. I guess there is some merit to knowing how many words or pages you can read per minute, per hour, etc. But it really doesn't have much effect in my life. What I found most intriguing was how I would utilize my spare/leisure time to ensure I was including reading at some point throughout the day. If nothing else I knew I could read for 30 minutes in the morning, and an hour or so at night.
I signed up via their blog, but I was pretty "unofficial" about it too. I didn't do any blogging about it at the time as I was already strapped for time. I'm SO proud of Hello, Hemlock! I run it with two amazing people/booktubers and they have SO MANY great books on their TBRs. I wish I could keep up with them. Their channels are full of amazing books I need to get my hands on.
I'm glad to hear you had a good week! It seems like the more you own it, the more you make sure you aren't going to be influence by how others define a "successful" read-a-thon, the more you get out of it.
I was so happy to see you taking part in this on Goodreads! This is my first readathon as well but I've been doing much better than expected :) Plus, it's a great way to meet more Booktubers!
So glad you're taking part! It's a funny business, trying to work out how much you can read in a week. The only Bradbury I've read is Fahrenheit 451 and I wasn't all that taken with it. I've read more sci-fi lately though, so maybe I'd enjoy his other works. I'm hoping to read some CanLit with you guys soon :)
That's so cool you read two different things depending on the time of day! That's a great idea. Do you have any method to picking which one gets the sun and which gets the moon?
I can safely say I was blown away by the Martian Chronicles. I have read a short story (The House, I believe?) was brutal. It didn't resonate with me at all and it was only when I read MC that I realized what a prolific writer he could be. I certainly didn't get that from the short story. I'm really interested to see how I'll like F451!
I'm so glad you like it! Feedback is always great. It's definitely a different style of videos/reviewing to the rest of the BookTube community, so it's great to hear positivity around that method! Did you enter to win a copy of Carnival?
Womp womp, I didn't read it! The weekend was busy so I finished a book I had started ages ago, and finally got it "off the shelf" as it were ;) I really do want to read it, though!
I'm not good at book a thons because of my restless leg syndrome and the neuropathy I have, so I envy you :P Right now I'm reading Shawshank at night and in the morning I'm reading The Indifferents.
I took part in BoB, only unofficially (was in the countryside, so I couldn't update my blog). I didn't read as much as I wanted, but I'm happy I read Brave New World, which I've been meaning to get to for years, and finished 2 other books so far. The Martian Chronicles is another book I've been meaning to get around to. I'm glad to hear you're enjoying it :) hellohemlock sounds awesome, I didn't knew about it. Will check it out, and maybe get some new books added to my TBR!
As you should be! I took a look and subscribed. The videos you've all put out so far are amazing. I love all your reviews and can't wait to get my hands on the books you've been discussing. Such lovely editing, too! Good luck with it!
Apologies for my absence! I've been focusing a lot on my personal channel, ~foolishoats. That's always been my thoughts on read-a-thons. I'm glad I tried it out and participated, it has its perks! I never had any intention of insuring I read "300 pages" in a day, or anything like that. Who knows, maybe I'm doing it all wrong! But I don't think so ;)

I did! I think. Haha, it was a new experience, that's for sure! I'm trying to organize my thoughts and make a video about it.
It is! I'm glad I'm finding you on more social media feeds, too ;)
Thank you!! Sorry for the absence!
