Really enjoyed the video. It's interesting how the colors pop a lot more on the AE Hane Hane. Can't tell which I like better, there's a nice vintage softness to the NA copy. Probably just clouded with nostalgia, lol.
Hey! Idk if you're still active on here but I have an Asian English Necrovalley... at least I think I do. A friend says it is fake as it is a spell card not a magic card and PGD was the last set of magic cards. Would the AE version be a spell or a magic?
Great video. Whilst you touched on that point at the end, I think you will find in the future collectors still happy to pay a large 'premium' from a pure $ value rather than relative raw to Gem Mint price ratio for a Gem Mint copy of AE cards purely as the production numbers are that much lower than NA. In other words, the quality rarity that GM NA copies have in their favour compared to AE in my opinion will be offset by the sheer rarity of the AE cards (obviously in favour of AE cards), rendering AE 10's equal or more valuable in the long term than the NA counterparts. Only time will tell but that would be my guess, great video regardless :)
Glad you enjoyed the vid! For most ultis the higher AE price point will apply, especially for the most sought after AE ultis which are generally totally different to NA (doriado, queens knight and things like that). But for ultra ultis specifically I would not expect to see this, since the pull rates are much better across the whole run for those ultis in AE compared to NA so they are not actually that much rarer despite the smaller print run. And when you consider that they are also easier to grade, there wouldn't be much incentive to pay more than an NA 10 price for an AE 10 aside from aesthetics. AE raw ultis were actually worth more than NA 10s until quite recently, but TCG set cards in general have grown much more in recent years than OCG so that has seen that trend reversed
@@Schloast Thanks for the reply - if i'm not mistaken i believe NA ultra ultis are 1 in every 15 boxes (1 per sheet of 30 ultis), whereas with an AE set that has 25 ultimates would it not make it 1 in every 12.5 boxes if equal probability of pulling a specific applies? So with only a relatively small discrepancy (15 vs 12.5) I still think that the much lower production run of AE would make those specific 'ultra ultis' in AE still rarer than the NA version. I could be wrong but at least from personal experience it seems that way as i barely see AE but every now and then you will see NA ultra ultis pop up. The thing i like about AE ultis is that they have that incredible pop and foiling on the card which aside from euro copies (which don't differentiate hobby and retail... thus making them relatively easier to pull) gives them that edge on NA versions as well. Very interested to see what happens in the future but thanks once again! Very informative :)
@@mgecom8911 yep that is correct! But of course you can pull them from any AE box, whereas you don't get them at all in retail NA boxes which are the majority of the run. I would still assume they are rarer than the NA versions, but by a much smaller margin than retail or even super ultis. It's a bit hard to judge the exact scarcity of AE going by eBay because the majority of the cards are located in Japan and so get listed on different sites mostly
@@Schloast you can pull any AE ulti in a AE GX box, but you have to also consider that AE sealed boxes are pretty much extinct at this point and most of the AE product out there are just loose packs whereas NA hobby boxes you can still find cases and a good bit of loose boxes of each set out there. Unless there is a warehouse out there with AE boxes, which I think is very unlikely, AE ultimate supply is pretty much capped that this point IMO, unlike NA where you still have the chance to pull chase cards.
I think you really nailed the point on condition rarity. AE quality is far superior. Thanks for sharing your insight! Currently waiting on a Master of Oz AE UTR! I bought it exactly for the reasons you mentioned in the video, the aesthetics and the rarity
Great video! I do have one question, I have a PSA 10 Gate Guardian 1st Edition MRD-000 Asian-English. What do you think the value is of this card? Thank you!
So the printing being off centered doesn't mean that it is a fake? I tossed a bunch of the ones I had when going through my old cards into a pile due to this thinking it may have been counterfeit. My mom used to bring them back when she went on trips to Asia for me on top of getting them in America.
Hello Schloast! fantastic video! I would like ask about MFC AE LON AE and EoJ AE packs Sealed. Are these packs considered rare? And is there somewhere I can take reference for the their value? Thank you
Hi there, glad you liked the vid! And sorry for the late reply. AE packs from those sets are definitely rare to see, I really don't know much about the value though. EOJ should be quite a bit more than an NA pack, LON might be around the same as NA but I don't know of any sales
I have a question on old cards like SDY or SDK. I have noticed that the European version, some would say SDY-E001 in contrast with SDY-001. Are those cards playable in US tournaments? I know that Portuguese, English and Spanish are allowed, in contrast to Asian counterparts.
At the time of release, -E cards could only be played in Europe and NA cards only in America (the list of cards released in each region was quite different). Nowadays it makes no difference for those old cards though, you can play with any English-back card in a tcg tournament (Asian English cards have a Japanese back so that's why they aren't allowed)
Question... what do you know about the yugioh blister packs with all holo rares distributed by a company called ZZ JUVENILE back in mid 2000's?? I used to get these for my shop from a local distributor the cards had legit eye of anubus holograms but the card foiling was different... first i was told the were illegal fake cards...but then later told that they were made by the company with prior negotiations with Konami USA but there was some breach of contract in the distribution and manufacturing so they were all originally real cards (variants)that were supposed to be destroyed by some escaped destruction and were sold on the grey market.. i have about 100 packs of these still... i never see or hear of them anywhere to learn the full facts even now with the internet... so what can you find out about them ?? Magic the Gathering had a similar history with their "EDGAR/ SUMMER EDITION" print that is extremely rare and valuable as those too were all supposed to be destroyed and some escaped into the market...they are also variants to the standard printings. I appreciate your reply.
Hi there, that doesn't sound familiar to me unfortunately. There were some infamous counterfeits produced by upper deck behind konami's back, they were distributed as promos in a blister pack called 'Duel King I/II' and there were 9 cards in the series total. Those didn't have anything to do with a company called ZZ Juvenile though so I suspect you are dealing with counterfeits sadly

There are actually plenty of other differences yep! I thought about going into it in this vid but figured it might be a bit too advanced. But yes the card stock and colouration are very different between the two (AE cards tend to have much colder colours), the eye of Anubis is made a bit differently and is also smaller and more rounded on OCG cards, the holos display foil bleed most of the time which the NA LOB run never does, overall just lots of little things like that.
