I built a proper 5.1 speaker system 20 years ago and never looked back, have upgraded and refined the system over the years and sounds incredible. While soundbars are way better then the TV speakers they just don't have the dynamics or quality of a proper setup with towers and multi subs.
I used to have a Boston acoustic home theater and changed to the Bose 300 and two Bose surround sound speaker to include the 700 Bose bass. The home theater is definitely louder. But I enjoy the soundbar much more because the sound bar has more of a balance to the surround sound. Finally the soundbar has more uniformity to the surround sound.Bose is great for music and movies.
After watching countless videos on sound bar vs theater system, I finally just went with theatre. Absolutely happy I made this choice

My experience: I thought I didn't have the space for a full surround so I bought a Sony HT-ZF9 which gives the opportunity to purchase the satilities for the rear souns system. I did that after understanding I had the space so if you're not sure, just grab a soundbar that gives you the possibility to had more speakers
Thanks for all your great vids and tips. I have a small basement with 6 doors to other rooms and a huge fireplace (a traditional Finnish basement fire 'snug' room next to the sauna room). When I renovated it, it gave me the opportunity to hide the wiring for a 7.1 system, but my wall space was the limiting factor for a TV. My 9 year old UK tv was dying and was not able to be a smart tv here in Finland... so it was time for an upgrade. We went for a 77 LG B1 oled... and it's stunning. I used a full motion tv mount that I'd seen you using on one of your videos, as the tv has a slight overhang on one doorway, so wanted the option of moving it out of the way if needed. It sounds ridiculous, and my wife thought I was nuts, but as the whole room is matt grey, you hardly notice the overhang and the difference over the 65 inch is amazing... we love the insane gorgeousness of the 77 oled! 😄 And for our lounge room upstairs... you're right, a good middle ground soundbar and subwoofer are more than enough to match with our 2018 Samsung QLED. We have two near-perfect systems now. I'm glad I'm not dealing with vaulted ceilings! 😁 cheers!
For those people that still enjoy and employ real deal audio equipment ,,,for all the whiz bang TV screens ,,,there is conspicuous lack of regular rca audio output jacks...
It’s really about working with the space you have. It I was starting today I would go with an AppleTV and two HomePods in my space. I started long before this so I ran 3.1 for a long time until I settled in a space that could accommodate 5.1 and later 5.1.2. I’ve seen a lot of people try to fit a full surround speaker setup in an open concept space with no practical way of running wire to the surrounds because they read that it was only way to get a good experience. I’ve also hear much maligned Bose systems sound good in specific situations. I think the best solution for a lot of people is the one that doesn’t require you to cut into walls. When you are ready to make the bigger commitment it’s basically going to be a remodel so pick a room that you can work with rather than against.
So funny that you came to that conclusion. With systems going from 3.1 to 5.1 to 9.2 to 11.2 we have come full circle back to 3.1. As an audiophile for 35 years, I agree with you. A fantastic system in front of you will probably make you and a lot of other people happier than they think. Unless you live for action movies and want to know the plane is coming from behind you, I think many would enjoy the entire budget in front. However, you kind of hurt your own business. The only system I want to install myself is a 3.1. And with the new short throw projectors, that is self install too. But, I bet you have plenty of business. Some guys will always be there to flex and have you install there 22.4 system for them…..LOL.
I would love to see you set up and review the Klipsch Reference 5.1 WiSa wireless surround system. Yes it’s expensive, $3800, but uses real center and surround speakers, not the small satellite speakers you get with a sound bar system. What do you think?? Worth a review??
I own a home with 8' ceilings and a medium size living room. I recently received (3/11/22) my Sonos Arc with sub gen 3 and bought the SL 1's. I believe this is the suitable soundbar system for my needs. Great video B and we're all looking forward to your uploads 👍
I hope you have an Iphone, because the room correction with Android phones are bad with Sonos arc. The microphes in Iphones works the same in every phone even between versions, while the Android phones has differences in microphone beheaviour even between phones that is the same model. Iphones are mad with a better craftmanship. That is why you could not correct Sonos without Iphones for a long time. I bet the Andorid phones has not been made better since.
I don't know how it is in the USA, but in Europe you can: - pull cables through the energy cable tubing (good well isolated sound cables) and problem solved - use PLC adapters for sound. A sound is sent digitally (so no noise or loss) over electricity cables on the walls and on the other end is the decoder. So you need no extra cables 😃 you have though with plc be sure that the latency is next to none.
I have had the Samsung N950 for a couple years and I’ve been very happy with it. It’s not as good as a SVS system with separates, but the Atmos effects definitely work in my room. Anyone who thinks the upfiring speakers don’t work either have a poor system, don’t have the proper room (like you said, it won’t work correctly with vaulted ceilings), or have never heard upfiring speakers and are just ignorantly assuming they don’t work.
Team Surround Speakers: two 10" DCM towers, one Infinity center and two Infinity bookshelfs as rears. two subs: one 10" JBL for deep bass and one 8" off-brand for punchy tight bass. sound ran from tv through a pioneer dj mixer then out to a kenwood receiver for front 3 and subs. from kenwood receiver to sony receiver for rear 2 with seperate volume control used to fill space and add dimension without using standard 5.1 or higher native surround. works for me and there is tons of ways to shape the sound with the different equipment. to each their own and may your sound be the best!
is that a legit reply from B The Installer, as it is on numerous comments...and is not the official channel name..or some scammer with extra time for nefarious activities?
I started off as team surround speakers, but unfortunately over the years I’ve downsized to a lot smaller place, so I’ve joined team sound bar. Although you have no idea how badly I want to set up everything.
i know what u mean. my dad used to have his big 5.1 stereo foe movies set up in the living room. that got taken out when we redid the living room and changed the TV location. we have a sound bar but it isn't the same as the stereo.
i still have more than 3.1... i bought into the sonos system. Arc, sub mini, and 100s for surrounds. But it takes up WAY less space on my walls and the sub has a WAY smaller footprint than my standard 5.1
@youssefhamidi8152 any recs on a good 3.1 system? Got our basement finished with a 75 inch samsung frame tv. Not a huge space, my lady likes clean and aesthetic so I figured 3.1 from the front is plenty
I started out with 2 Polk RT600i towers and an Onkyo receiver. Over time I added a Polk center and a Polk F/X Wireless Surround which I have really enjoyed and I am surprised a similar speaker is not made today. The speaker has 4 - 2-1/2” drivers, two at each end and they are aimed 45° off vertical and face the upper corners of the room. It also has a 5-1/4” ported subwoofer. The transmitter accepts line or speaker level inputs. After a few years of disappointment with popping sounds (auto off, auto on), I tried the speaker level inputs and problem solved. I shopped eBay and put together a Boston Acoustics VR-M system also. I tried to put together a Polk RT5000 system but only have the two RT3000 subs and the CS1000p center. I have been considering a sound bar and have been impressed with ZVOX’s specs on their SB500 and SB700 with subwoofers built in and somehow they can make impressive low end bass from 4” subs!
I live in an apartment and bought the new klipsch flexus core 200 soundbar $500 budget soundbar and a klipsch 1000 (10 inch) RP sw subwoofer for the sub out input on the back of the soundbar. Sounds good for my space at least. The soundbar is loud I have a sennheiser ambeo plus soundbar too their pretty nice as well with sub out input. It does good for a soundbar
This was a great perspective with reasonable conclusions. Recently switched from renting to owning and have two living spaces - downstairs and upstairs. Downstairs is a long space with open floorplan from kitchen and dining with a slightly tall ceiling. Do have attic access and was sure I wanted to to put Atmos speakers over couch area and a receiver in a nearby closet but after shopping and watching reviews decided to test out the JBL 9.1.4 soundbar with detachable wireless surrounds first. And... never took it back. It works great. For most TV watching we keep the surrounds attached but for a big movie night we detach and put them on the sides of the couch. It's loads better than the TV sound and beats my old 5.1 system. It was just easy. The Atmos imaging isn't as great as a full component system but it gets plenty loud and good enough bass for the space. I guess I still have the upstairs game room for full speaker and wiring install. :)
I brought 3 soundbar systems in 5 years(a waste of $). Now that prices are $2k for soundbar systems im team home theater & NEVER going back. I have a 7.2.4 in my Coop. I have a 7.2.4 in my apt physical speakers
I have a diffrent expierence. Soundbar Q990C i get for less then a 1000$. Plug in and im done ... For a AVR system only AVR begins from 1000$, if i will atmos and 7 or 9 chanels. Then + speakers + sub (my dream is least two of them) + wires + room treatment = 3000$ is not enough! So ??? Maybe some 3.1 system is possible to achive cheap, but definitely not with a great sub. Or yes?
Currently using a 3.0 system with a trio of homebuilt speakers, the boxes are built from mdf panels, the speakers are six inches. My living room is pretty small, 4m x 3m x 2.5m with an open kitchen to the side, so I'm thinking of simply adding a subwoofer since my speakers deliver a good bit of audio, but not as much punch in movies and TV shows.
I think is depends on the room and how it's configured. A dedicated theater room where the speakers can be built in then yes to speakers. In my living room where speakers will be seen then No. At least keep it simple. I suppose it depends on your tolerance for such things. My wife thinks tower speakers are an eye sore so they are banished from the house and I use them in the garage. I did get a nice sound bar. The Sonos Arc with Sub and surrounds. Yes it's speakers, but they blend in nice and I stuck the sub behind the couch.
After months (actually years) of rebuilding my house and untold hours and hours of speaker research I finally landed on my set up. My home has 9-foot ceilings, but also an open floorplan concept and not a lot of linear distance from screen wall to viewing position. The system has to be dual purpose for both music and theater, but the open concept doesn't allow for rear or sidewall surrounds, and I do not want speakers on stand in the middle of the floor so in-ceiling surrounds are my only option. This means that I'm unfortunately not getting ATMOS and have to settle for a 5.1 setup with the surrounds in the ceiling. After much deliberation I I knew I didn't want a soundbar based system and finally landed on Monitor Audio CP-CT380IDC for the ceiling surrounds, and they will match with the Silver 5007G and a Silver C350 Center Channel. Because I want those same surrounds to also be able to play music from my whole house audio system when not being used for surround duty, I'm connecting the speaker leads to each speaker via either a Russound AB-3.2 Automatic Speaker Selector or an MCM Custom Audio Auto A/B Switch so they can be powered by the different amplifier feeds automatically. They would never both be on at the same time so there is no danger of that happening. One set of speakers with two different configurations and power sources. For a sub I plan on grabbing an SVS PC-4000. Cheers and keep up the great work on your videos!
Sound bar or not, just having a living space of that size in the greater Los Angeles area..much respect…its like having a living room thats too big in New York City..first world blessings.
I live in a small 400 sqft apartment with no soundproofing. I can hear neighbors on top bottom left and right engaging in various activities including naked wrestling with descriptions of preferred holds and how to execute Greco roman holds and positionings. So I have chosen an LG sound plate for more bass since more volume would lead to complaints from the wrestling teams who are practicing their sport. I sit less than four feet from my TV due to room size limitations. But that allowed me to select a 43" LG UHD tv.
I'm a fan of component surround sound systems and would love to have that, but I have an open living area, where the living room, dining room and kitchen are all one big area, so it would be hard to have rear sound speakers unless they're mounted in the ceiling.
Glad to see you back my friend I myself have a Denon s960h receiver with full klipsch speakers for front, center and surround speakers! For my livingroom the setup works great although I habe speaker wire showing through out my livingroom I'm not ready to hide everything until I figure out what to do with my tv setup! 🙃 to close off my window that behind the tv and hang my next tv is going to be a big project. But when I decide on that then I will hide wiring and all that! Once again good to see you back in action 🎬
@@BTheInstaller you sure do the 3 channel sounds good for your house! Those ceiling are a pain my cousin has almost the same set up and spent $8,000 on B&W speaker setups and it still was way to much of an echo! I'd stick with that 3 channel for yourself and go from there! 🤷🏽♂️
@@BTheInstaller the SVS subs are nice I've got klipsch mid tier fronts and ill tell you they are loud and clear! I'll tag you in the video of my set up
In my opinion which ever room has your biggest screen gets the home theatre setup if it works logistically. Every other room gets a soundbar. I always feel like separate speakers in a bed room is just overkill. If I'm watching a movie and I want to hear killer sound, I'm probably going to want to watch it on the big tv too. Otherwise, I just want to relax in bed and still be able to hear what I'm watching without the tv speakers killing my ears.
I own Polk Monitors 60s for my mains Polk cs2 center with Polk Signature S10s for the rears a Klipsch K-100sw subwoofer and a Sony STR-DH770. Total system cost me around $1,000 5 years ago. I have a small 12x12 living room.
And Hulu Live is now standard with unlimited DVR storage and fast forward features too. Maybe time to retry that for your streaming with better video picture quality than what you are currently using.
Thanks for the info! That’s a lot of useful info to help, plan my room, I also have a large space where surround sound will be difficult to achieve but a sound at probably won’t be enough, I’m kind of leaning towards the 3.1 system
Great video. I have a Samsung Q950T sound system, and sounds awesome. My only complaint is I wish it had a second sub, that being said, it is a good subwoofer. I love having the Atmos "bubble effect", and I can't go back.
I love my Sonos Arc and Gen3 Sub combo. Sonos is plug and play and that is works for me. I don’t want to spend hours fine tuning the system. Love the content. Keep up the great work.
we built a proper dolby atmos system in the living room. and we just dropped a sound bar in the bedroom. for clearer dialog and fidelity since sony t.v.'s have a habbit of firing the sounds out the back of em!!!
Hi. I have a 252 sq. ft. room with a 77” TV. Priorities: 1. great quality sound for music; 2. surround sound if possible with #1: 3. convenience with no complicated / costly installation. Do you recommend a soundbar +, or 3.1 system / front speakers & subwoofer? Thanks!
Very good practical video, with great points. I personally have 20ft cielings with a spare room loft and living room, and i own. So i went for 5.2.4 in loft and 5.0 in living room (cuz i dont want the living room sub to disturb neighbors below). But these are great pointers for sure!
I have poke audio with four way and a downward facing subwoofer, and I have some BMW 601 esses and Miller, TX rear speakers and center channel a mixing match. Is it worth it to get a receiver. My old self got flooded. Granted the stuff is more than a decade old, but still quality I used to use it for mixing the BMW 601SS would it be a good?
When it comes to 2 channel stereo music, soundbars are unable to compete with stereo speakers. Nevermind the imaging one will never be able to experience stereo separation with a soundbar and if one knows anything about listening to music speaker placement (+ toeing) is absolutely essential to experience a great sound. But mind you what I will say in favour of soundbars.. is It's dialogue intelligibility. Quality sound is far more accessible with a average soundbar then with an average budget - mid price AVR, thats unless of course one is prepared to buy an expensive centre channel with preferably a good dynamic range of an AVR. Otherwise one will be reaching for the remote control every time the Dynamics change. So basically it comes down to budget and Listening habits! If one wants it mainly for movies then go with a soundbar but if you like your music more then your movies I would strongly advise going with a AVR. But if need be persevere carry on saving and start with something solid! Otherwise you'll be another one of those persons reaching for the remote control all the time.
This is the FIRST video I came across that sincerely addresses the issues with big rooms. Thank you! I have a similar big issue: Room is 40 m2 (430 sqft). TV is in one corner at the wall. Left hand side is an array of large windows (5m/16ft); room height 3.5m/11.4 ft). I feel that the one side to the soundbar just reflects the audio poorly of the window and blasts wide into the open room on the other. Yet I still hesitate to go for a 3.0 AVR setup. As its rental apartment I would have to pass on the subwoofer (hence the 3.0). Any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks!
There are some pretty good stereo setups. The Klipsch "the fives" are really awesome. They have hdmi input too I believe to ARC connection. My vanatoo speakers like the fives have better sound quality than most of those expensive sound bars
I’ve got the Sonos arc with the ones for surround in my small living room. It’s cool but I need the sub. In my upstairs, (even smaller) room I’ve got a Yamaha a/v receiver with a b&w center, 2 Elac bookshelves for sides, 2 Klipsch satellites for rears and 2 subs. That one sounds soooo good. The details are WAY more sharp with the Elacs. But the ease of the arc and novelty sound is fun as well.
@@BTheInstaller ha I got your response. Sound bars are good enough for my needs. Especially because the ones I use have a subwoofer that comes with them. So I'm KOOL.
Last year I purchased a SONY A80J 77 inch OLED TV. IT IS OUTSTANDING. I am using a BOSE 300 sounder with subwoofer and surround speakers. My question for you is: for quality of sound to match the new A80J. WOULD THERE BE AN IMPROVEMENT with getting a SONOS ARC with surround and subwoofer, or SONY HT A9 (4) speakers or just keep the BOSE 300? My room is about 14 x 24 and the speakers would have to connect wireless. THANKS.
I own an amazing 5.1 system, that I've bought with lot of sweat when I was living in my parent's attic. Now I'm in a smaller house and my wife doesn't want all those big speakers around. Apart that that's tremendously sad and I already had to choose between having a wife or having the speakers, I'm not finding any good alternative since a soundbar would shoot the surround on sidewalls that do not exist since the room is short but large. I could reflect the surrond on the ceiling, or directly on the back wall, if only some sound bar does that.
I have the pioneer elite 7.2 av receiver with the mirage nano stat speakers mount on the wall (8’)aiming down these are top firing speakers and a Samsung Q70 led I was thinking of moving the front 3 speakers closer to tv height . The room is 18’x18’ and sitting 12’ away with a vaulted ceiling at 12’ at the peak what changes should I make
I have a high ceiling too and have been considering soundbars, but now I want to look into regular front speakers. Any good options to look at? I don't want anything too fancy, just good sound and clear dialogue.
Easy: you want to deal with wires and receiver physical speakers around you and get great dynamics, imaging, and sound? Go with traditional. You want plug and play, mediocre sound, convenince, cleaner setup get a soundbar.
Hello, I currently have a 5.1 System with an old AVR. I would like to switch to Dolby Atmos technology and enjoy having overhead sounds. I do not have the possibility of installing speakers in the ceiling (I know that it is the best option in conjunction with a Dolby Atmos AVR). Is a Dolby Atmos soundbar with rear speakers (like the Samsung HW-Q990C) worth it? Can this type of soundbar make you feel sounds above your head? Or will this change not be better than my current 5.1 system? The TV room has a 9-foot (2.8-meter) high flat ceiling. Thank you so much!
It’s more about Time/Money and ultimately space. Of course a dedicated system will sound better, but if you can have a descent sound bar system for $3-500+ then why not. With bills, taking care of others and many things we all need to be able to enjoy what we can afford. Everyone would love an 83” Sony A80J, realistically most can’t afford it. Great video, but cheaper solutions exist for even those on a minimal budget ☮️ *PS: Your home is beautiful, love it
i had the klipsch rf 52 speakers and denon av receiver. were the bomb. soundbars cant come even close to high quality speakers. now i have a bose soundbar with a subwoofer. its ok but not the same.
I have the same living room set up. I was thinking about the a9 or the a7000. Sounds like you saved me from some headaches. What 3.1 set up would you go with in your space as it is the same as mine.
Thank you for the video great work, I’m having the same issue with my sony ht a9 some games when i play the dialogue is hard to hear with all that action
Wish you were close to East Tennessee for my installation! I’m close to moving into a 10 by 20 ft tiny home (9.8 ft wall to back wall). Currently have 5 SVS Ultra speakers and SVS PB200 subwoofer. I’ve ordered a Sony A80j OLED (1800!) from Best Buy. Effective listening area is 9.5 by 12 ft. Ceiling angles each direction (A frame style) with overhead ceiling fan. Would the Sony Ht-9 be a wise consideration or purchase? Probably not ideal for Atmos but vast majority of my blu ray/ 4K movies are older classic ones. Just hate to sacrifice too much base effects from SVS sub. Would the Sony ht-a9 perhaps be a better fit? Agonizing decision for me!!
When going for a 3.1 system, would You recommend spending a little more on an Atmos-capable AVR? The chances of going for more speakers later a slim, but are there.
Well, it is interesting, I just want to say, the bouncing off the ceiling Sound aspect, doesn’t really work to my ears… where I moved to a new home that is much better for myself, since it is a ranch, and I can get everything I need, easily. Where as part of it, we are working on finishing part or all of the basement is currently being done. So we created a theater, in one room in particular in the basement. With about 7-8 in ceiling speakers, with enough spots for about 9.4 system, which is unlikely we will be doing that. Since we don’t need 4 subwoofers, but I will use 2 subwoofers, and either a 7 or 9 speaker set up. All being Klipsch… which I am excited to see/hear, once we get it finished. I also want to note, we have a temporary tv down their right now, it’s a Sony x85j, that should be able to handle most if not all of the Xbox features. It’s a smaller tv, though at 43 inches, but it should work to at least test the room, out, where I will plan on buying a big movie/ gaming tv, in the next year or so, assuming Sony or lg can create a good led, with enough zones, and working gaming features for the box.
I bought the same A9 system and OLED tv as you. I'm finding the s-center of the 83 OLED too loud in comparison to the other speakers. I haven't found a way to lower the center volume. Any ideas?
Are those wall mounted speakers in the downstairs part of Ed's home the KEF T301 satellite speakers? How do they sound? I haven't found any recent reviews on them. Thanks!
To B the installer I was happy to hear that I won an sound bar system and did not mind paying the shipping cost of $75.05 but when you came back and said I need to pay $100 for insurance them you came back and said I need to pay $50 instead of $100. Something just do not sit well about this deal. If you can not send the package with out paying an insurance fee you can just return the $75.05 to me and we can end this right here
I personally wouldnt have anything else in living room space than two good tower speakers. I have Revel F36:S and they really dont need even a sub, had one and noticed no real difference without it. Enough bass power for even movies. This is easy to install anywhere with minimum hassle, havent ever heard a "good" soundbar. They all sound artifical and echoing compared to good speakers :) Sennheiser Ambeo havent heard, but i doubt it outperforms similar priced towers, ambeos main point is the atmos effect of course so not really true comparison.
I wonder if you could help me. My mum needs to buy a new tv as her old one is playing up. She lives in a small flat. So 48"-50" is maximum in terms of size. Atm I'm considering x85j, qn91A as well as upcoming a90k qn9xB maybe qn8xB if it's a va panel or a c2. Should she buy older models at a discount or will the newer ones be worth the wait? I have a c7 oled. With both burn in and image retention present. My panel developed what some call a cnn screen. How much improvement is there on oleds these days vs 5 years ago when it comes to retention. I don't want her to experience these issues just after 5 years of using a tv like I did. And more to the point of this video. She's unlikely to purchase a soundbar, let alone anything more advanced. How much worse is Samsung's and Lg's on board audio compare to Sony?
Sonos can be calibrated to room. Just need iphone to do so. Also rear speakers, use play 1s, or play 5s. Subwoofer is wireless. Sonos app also has adjustments to individual speakers. Using wireless kit can make sub make noise. Unless wireless subwoofer kit is dedicated to sub brand. I to also install systems as well. One question to keep in mind. If wife says no cutting of holes then soundbar is the way to go. Happy wife happy life. 😂
Hay B The Installer I know it was someone using your name to scam some money I am just chalking it up to lesson learn. Your videos are great and have a lot of great info
Hey B, why not use wireless tramitter for height wall hung active speakers in your situation? Not exactly ideal but I'm sure you could make it work if anyone could.
Hey b the installer love your videos by the way man great job on the topic of ht systems so I'm renting for now and was wondering how good is sonos arc and sub and is it better than the bose 900 + sub and surrounds also some say that sonos arc has a popping noise when cec is enabled also I saw a video where bose 700 bass module does sometimes pop too need your feedback thanks and blessings
Amazing video! I live in a apartment and I wish I can own a full 5.2.4 traditional home theater system. For now I have to settle for a soundbar system. I currently own Sonos Arc with dual subs, and play ones for rear speakers (5.2.2) I’m truly happy with my system and it sounds amazing. But I want to experience true overhead Atmos sound affects.
Ht a7000 soundbar + Sony oled might be a good contender for centre channel performance compared to the ht a9 , plus once the ht a7000 gets 360 spacial update and new surrounds, would be interesting how big of a difference there is .
Yeah its great for most rooms and situations. Thanks
I don't know how it is in the USA, but in Europe you can:
- pull cables through the energy cable tubing (good well isolated sound cables) and problem solved
- use PLC adapters for sound. A sound is sent digitally (so no noise or loss) over electricity cables on the walls and on the other end is the decoder.
So you need no extra cables 😃 you have though with plc be sure that the latency is next to none.
Just a note, if the speakers are in the wall cavity they should be fire rated type.
6:50 power is everything . I have the JBL 3.1 and man does it do its job properly 🔥🔥🔥
I started off as team surround speakers, but unfortunately over the years I’ve downsized to a lot smaller place, so I’ve joined team sound bar. Although you have no idea how badly I want to set up everything.
That's what I'm saying. I see it often. It's a lot of work.
i know what u mean. my dad used to have his big 5.1 stereo foe movies set up in the living room. that got taken out when we redid the living room and changed the TV location. we have a sound bar but it isn't the same as the stereo.
Man your one of the first ppl ive come across that had suggested 3.1. Ive been doing it for years and love it.
i still have more than 3.1... i bought into the sonos system.
The soundbar is loud
I have a sennheiser ambeo plus soundbar too their pretty nice as well with sub out input.
Or yes?
I have a similar room. But I have a basement which I run the surrounds through.
Surprisingly the sound out of the system is great
Go 3.1
I really like the Sony HTA-7000 Sound Bar/Home Theater setup for both ease of use and immersive atmos in our small 14'x12'x8 living room.
Find speakers that look good in the room. Problem solved.
I own a 90s single story. So going full power in the front and in-wall/in-ceiling surrounds is a no-brainer for me.
Nice. Yeah I need the raw "RCA commercial" power. I'm sick of trying to get my A90J to pump as a center channel
@@BTheInstaller you sure do the 3 channel sounds good for your house! Those ceiling are a pain my cousin has almost the same set up and spent $8,000 on B&W speaker setups and it still was way to much of an echo! I'd stick with that 3 channel for yourself and go from there! 🤷🏽♂️
@Nicholas Jarrett yeah man, I'm getting ZERO atmos... so I'm going like SVS sub and some mid to high end fronts
Pioneer Elite Tv and receiver that owner knows how to purify excellent quality 👍
I just got a Samsung 300 watt soundbar and love it!!
@@BTheInstaller Thanks, I'll have a look at your recommendations!
The sub helps with the arc considerably.
@@BTheInstaller thanks and good to know. Looking forward to it
Hello B the installer. I use sound bars on my TV's especially bedroom TV's. But I'd love to have a full fleg audio system some day.
Yeah its hard to equip more than one room with great speakers. Ed had 2 nice rooms.
I use both.
Which option is better for gaming?
You removed the punch effect of the subscription promotion, good, I don't have to be slapped in the face by the subwoofer
I have good question. Had someone do 5.1 system with a 2.1 soundbar work together?
Easy:
you want to deal with wires and receiver physical speakers around you and get great dynamics, imaging, and sound?
Hi, I am in a similar position, did you go the atmos route and how did you get on?
Hello, i just want to know sony 8k Z8H is better or X95J is better to bye which one you suggest?..thanks
Great video, but cheaper solutions exist for even those on a minimal budget
☮️
*PS: Your home is beautiful, love it
I think we're sort of saying some of the same things. Time/money and the installation isn't free.
vaulted ceiling can be a real pain. Try your best to make your room work -with it-
Great video B! We have a Sonos arc, sub gen 3 and 2 Sonos fives as surrounds. It’s unreal!!
i had the klipsch rf 52 speakers and denon av receiver. were the bomb. soundbars cant come even close to high quality speakers. now i have a bose soundbar with a subwoofer. its ok but not the same.
I have the same living room set up. I was thinking about the a9 or the a7000. Sounds like you saved me from some headaches. What 3.1 set up would you go with in your space as it is the same as mine.
Are you able to mix different OEM's soundbars with different TVs or they should be the from the same brand?
great jobs on installing and these info,,, thumbs up from IRAN...
Thank you for the video great work, I’m having the same issue with my sony ht a9 some games when i play the dialogue is hard to hear with all that action
Soundbar all day, love my Sonos Beam 2
Excellent video man. Very well explained.
When going for a 3.1 system, would You recommend spending a little more on an Atmos-capable AVR? The chances of going for more speakers later a slim, but are there.
Sir is it possible if I change size of the speaker, like 2.1 speaker into soundbar with the compartment in it?
Hey b I also have vaulted ceiling love the video that you did saw the bose speakers I love bose but was thinking about trying sonos
I bought the same A9 system and OLED tv as you. I'm finding the s-center of the 83 OLED too loud in comparison to the other speakers. I haven't found a way to lower the center volume. Any ideas?
I have a Sony 83," TV and was thinking of going the same way, did you ever fing a solution to the volume level issue?
Are those wall mounted speakers in the downstairs part of Ed's home the KEF T301 satellite speakers? How do they sound? I haven't found any recent reviews on them. Thanks!
To B the installer I was happy to hear that I won an sound bar system and did not mind paying the shipping cost of $75.05 but when you came back and said I need to pay $100 for insurance them you came back and said I need to pay $50 instead of $100. Something just do not sit well about this deal. If you can not send the package with out paying an insurance fee you can just return the $75.05 to me and we can end this right here
I'm not giving away anything in the comments. It's the internet man, scams anywhere.
I got the same bs notice. Was extremely skeptical. No worries mate
Thank you!
Is dolby atmos is important😅
very detailed review
Great meaningful video, makes sense
Sound bar if you have a small place. Speaker system if you have plenty of room.
Hey B have you given any thought to the Boze system
Sonos can be calibrated to room. Just need iphone to do so. Also rear speakers, use play 1s, or play 5s. Subwoofer is wireless. Sonos app also has adjustments to individual speakers. Using wireless kit can make sub make noise. Unless wireless subwoofer kit is dedicated to sub brand. I to also install systems as well. One question to keep in mind. If wife says no cutting of holes then soundbar is the way to go. Happy wife happy life. 😂
Yeah as I said, the Sonos is solid. The calibration is still very minimal and overall sound quality is decent.
When you have a full speakers system with 11 channels a soundbar can’t cut it
I want the Sony HT-A9 with a Sonos Arc for the center channel. Better yet, for Sonos to make One SLA’s (A for Atmos upfiring speakers built in).
Haha yeah. Exactly. Or just a 5th speaker for the HT-a9 Woth the same sound quality cause it's better than the arc
Hey b the installer love your videos by the way man great job on the topic of ht systems so I'm renting for now and was wondering how good is sonos arc and sub and is it better than the bose 900 + sub and surrounds also some say that sonos arc has a popping noise when cec is enabled also I saw a video where bose 700 bass module does sometimes pop too need your feedback thanks and blessings
what about the nakamitchi sound wave that would fill your room
Great video as always!
Question_ what TV do you use at your house?
That is an 83" Sony A90J. 65" in bedroom
Looks like quality work but you are mounting your TVs too high, the rule is that the center of the TV should be at eye height while seated.
Put out all the speakers in the ceiling and none all the walls
Cual es mejor sistema de sonido y dime la verdad sonos erc sansung q990b o lo altavo sony ht a9 dime por fa que quiero compral el que sea mejor
Such a well thought out video. Thank you for presenting all sides. It has given me a lot to think about for my new home.
Ha, you have arc and double sub in apt and want more? You ungrateful person. Haha. I'm kidding.
Why can’t you run speaker wire under the house threw something like pvc pipe? You can even hang the pvc pipe like you could for plumbing.
I'm not sure that is practical.
What if speakers was suspended from the ceiling, or running fake beams across and installing speakers in them?
Did you see how far up his vaulted ceiling was?
@@kedduff1814 that is why I said something about doing a couple of fake beams. A ladder that tall would not be needed.
Ht a7000 soundbar + Sony oled might be a good contender for centre channel performance compared to the ht a9 , plus once the ht a7000 gets 360 spacial update and new surrounds, would be interesting how big of a difference there is .
I am actually getting those a7000 and a5000 with the updates to review before they go live. I'm excited. I'll let you know.
@@BTheInstaller Are you able to say roughly when you'll get to review the sony soundbar with updates 😃 ?
@Josh dimovski I'm getting them in a week. So probably 2 Saturdays from now
I thought they had been delayed the upfiring rears.
@@S1mmz Not sure , I haven't heard it being delayed.
B The installer is probably getting them sent from sony to review a little bit earlier.
Still waiting on the Sony HT-A9. Had it on pre-order for months now zzzZZzzZzzZzzz
An Avr with speakers will always outperform a soundbar.
