Descending into Midway is always an adventure. You practically kiss the rooftops of the houses in the adjacent neighborhoods, then the runway suddenly appears beneath you, then you have about 1.3 miles to make a full stop before the runway ends and you're out on 55th St....
Landing at Midway is always so much fun! My first time on a plane landed me at Midway, and I've always thought the intense landing was normal until I flew more often. It's always a treat going back and feeling the wild ride! It's a coster landing for sure!
@@Southwest252 Oh yeah tell me about it! I feel like most things about the airport are fairly unique as well, such as the near monopoly Southwest has, and the short taxi times (which are AMAZING). Most times when you land you turn off the runway and you are basically already almost at your gate. Same in reverse with taxiing for takeoff.
I use to live, early sixties, across the street from midway, Archer Ave, trying to see the building, guess not, use to go watch the planes land and take off, with my two yr old son , while my wife worked
i was born in chicago we lived in hickory hills ill then on 55th and central then wee lived at 5510 west 63rd st. right behind the marzzano bowling alley i miss my old neighbor hoods i live in arkansas now but ill always miss home and being able to watch the planes take off and land
I remember when I flew into midway and it was so cloudy the pilots aborted the landing twice and we got diverted to Indianapolis and I missed my connecting flight to Seattle 🤦🏾♂️ Waited at the airport for 8 hours til the next flight
It absolutely is bumpy a lot of the time coming into MDW. I don’t know why but I assume it’s something to do with Lake Michigan. I guess that’s why they call it the Windy City.
You have got to be kidding me. Then why are you watching it? The video was excellent it was a great day and you could even see the skyline in the downtown before landing and a very crisp video.

I’ve only flown into MDW twice, once in the dark, but I gotta say the approach is amazing!
Washington Reagan is about the same. Always a hard breaking at that airport.
@@JustinPinedaMedia agreed
I was just on a flight from lax to dtw for work and my plane bounced 3 times landing
Yeah… kinda like Southwest 1248
Classic video clip of SW 737 landing into Midway, great views

I've seen SWA planes fly that approach so many times from the ground (from downtown) so its cool to finally see it from the opposite perspective
It was a beautiful approach! I’ve also seen aircraft approaching MDW and ORD from the Willis Tower, and those views were spectacular!

You never notice how big a city is till you are flying over it
