Negative Space in Western Art: The Death of Marat

- Jacques-Louis David's pivotal masterpiece, "The Death of Marat" (1793) employs a sophisticated, evocative use of negative space - unique for its time/place. (A couple minor glitches in the audio - sorry!)
I think of the skies in Turner paintings although I don't think his is a use of negative space, it still reminds me of the weight of that space in the Marat painting.
