  • Growing whitetails has been a focal point of Aaron Sligh’s life for the last two decades, both for himself and hundreds of his clients, friends and family. In July of 2021 Aaron laid eyes on a once-in-a-lifetime buck and began putting a plan in place to create an opportunity. When opener arrived there was no option but to be in the tree every single day until he got his chance.

Thanks for great comments!!! My brother is the one that shot this. 30 years of hunting & never seen a deer like this. Probably never will. Came from nothing & we spent years hunting crowded over hunted land, public & poorly managed. This likely will never happen again in our lifetimes. These comments are great & great to see the passionate hunters that all have the commonality of loving the outdoors & wanting a chance at an older deer. It’s hard ANYWHERE to catch up with a mature buck. Amazing when it comes together. Best wishes to all of you passionate hunters & new hunters!!! This is our favorite “sport” or “activity” & you new hunters!!!…. Stick with it… You found the most peaceful, challenging but rewarding sport that exists!!!

Anyone can “grow” deer that big in a controlled environment. No deer that big is going to be walking around in broad daylight in October no less! I’ve hunted for 45 years and you’d be lucky to see a mature deer like that once in daylight, let alone on multiple days. You should know that if you’ve done any amount of public land hunting at all!

    • @ryanthomas6387

Sell “trophy” hunts for deer smaller than this at a one time fee of $8500, then do that 15 times a year, then write off everything they spend on “raising deer” as a business while selling crops which they also write off “losses” on from deer “destruction”. I fancy their multimillion dollar operation and their flip phone videos though.

You would have to be able to get a lot closer and be much more skilled to land a tag like that. Then you could just go find the beautiful antlers without hurting the deer. 🦌 I guess the hunting industry wouldn’t be super keen on that. The deer would though.

Deer are a source of food and we also need to keep their population under control. If we dont, it will interfere with other animals species causing them to die out.
Also, too much population growth can spring up disease over time. Hunting is a good and necessary thing for the whole ecosystem.
Not to mention too many deer running in the streets poses a danger to us people driving cars.

Sorry but I cannot get too excited over a farmed deer harvest. Sure, it takes a lot of work to create the habitat and monitor deer activity but this hunt is like shooting fish in a barrel compared to Blacktail hunting in the steep and densely wooded hills of southern Oregon . Or my Mule Deer hunt this year which involved a 3 mile hike in the hills of SE Oregon, a 1,000 foot very steep climb, bagged a great buck, dragged him down the 1,000 foot mountain (peak was 7,000'), walked back to my truck to get the buck cart, back to the deer, loaded him and headed back to the truck, back at camp at 9:30pm. Over 9 miles walking/hiking and a couple thousand feet of climbing. That's hunting!

Not a deer farm. 100% free range. When he says farm he’s not referring to a high fence deer farm, but instead an actual farm where animals and crops are raised. I’m not too sure what else you would call it? I’m pretty sure onX isn’t going to feature a filmed deer fence hunt.
