16:22 My heart stopped for a second. 😂😂😂
Looks like OBS took a dump during the last quarter of the detailing timelapse, resulting in some heavy dropped frames. Thankfully only towards the end of it, had this issue in Thessia this week too. Hopefully have it resolved now, thanks for bearing with!
I was worried for a second orchid bay was slowing down!
@@ben0329 guess it'd make it last longer lol
@@OVERCHARGEDEGG 🥁
The rail wearhouse should hold factory goods instead of metal, as the metal doesn't need an external connection, however the factory goods would more likely be exported out of the city.
I think a small, regional cargo airport will fit nicely beside this cargo port.
Good call!
Amazing port build egg I wonder what kind of cities you can make in cities 2 hopefully some great cities
I don’t remember but does he have cargo operating out of either of the previous two airports? If so, the cargo operations could be decommissioned to make this make more sense. I love the idea.
@@a_boat93 no current cargo airports anywhere 😌
@@OVERCHARGEDEGG fantastic; even better then! Although tbh it would’ve been cool to see you redevelop that space if in fact there were other air cargo operations elsewhere in the build.…or even just redeveloping the regional airport into another suburb like Denver did with Stapleton since you have the international airport now.
I think a grungy looking secondary downtown would fit the industrial vibe really well, like maybe it's where all the big industry companies have their hq's or regional offices. Loving the harbor so far!
Roadside motels, and campgrounds dotting the hills would be perfect, especially if you have a tiny town nearby, especially if you have multiple industries in the same general area.
The fast uploads are impressive. When do you sleep? 😂
RUclips is his main job
Never 😂😂
bro if RUclips is his main job and he done even have a 100k plaque fair enough to him keep it up egg
I like this... maybe needs a few food trucks or a park cafe... the workers have no where to buy lunch! 🙃
Agree! Also over at the fields area too. 😊
In Hamburg, germany they have build an entire new city on the Grounds of the old Habour called „Hafencity“… would be nice seeing something similar on the other side of the habour in Orchid :)
One day in 1902 a ship carrying goods for the town of two church noticed that there were orchid the now Orchid bay odd name was ofeta.Ofeta needed a new name and the name was all of u know it as Orchid bay.
I think a cruise ship port on the other side of the bay would be perfect. Maybe in the lore for Orchid Bay, it’s a rival port and the two ended up specializing in different directions.
That little cove right by where the 4 lane exits the mountain would be perfect for some seaside resort assets!
Yes it would!
Maybe between the harbour and downtown, you could put a really rich gentrified suburb on the beach. Then across the water have lots of industry. Finally maybe a small but high density (Brooklyn's and queens?) Worker town near the tile boundary, to serve the workers in the industry, and create a town that's kind of isolated from the rest of orchid bay?
We could finally get Awkward Bay 😇
love the use of a lil green space here and there! i also think that an industrial area like this would feature some manmade retention ponds and hopefully nice break areas for the workers!
a huge refinery build could take up quite a bit of space near the highway. and a warehouse/nightlife district near the other downtown connection could look amazing, something like elysian island from gta
I absolutely love this series, keep up the class work egg! :)
Glad to hear that mate, thanks for watching!
I agree!
That view of the downtown from the mountains is breathtaking! Orchid Bay’s come so far!
Loving these big industrial harbor builds, always a favourite of mine to do in my own cities. I've found that mixing in oil industry really adds to the harbor vibe and can create some nice pops of height.
Also, across the bay from the harbour could sit some lower income housing, maybe more B&Q's. Would make sense for the industry there to provide some cheap worker housing!
wait?! another episode already, damn. Keep up the good work and nice builds Egg
Enjoy kriss! :D
Another one uploaded right as I jump into bed. Eggs on my schedule 🙏🏻
Sleep well bro!
The other side of the bay could become “old orchid bay”. Using the european buildings. The bay of the original settlers. Big central square, a cathedral, old train station.
I'm all for this!
Yes!
I think this is one of my favourite builds of the series it looks so realistic and alive and the drive in yes please as is said 😂
It's amazing the stuff you come up with, I really like how you add other buildings to the mix! There's a bridge over by the park *the slipper of slaanesh* can you go back to the bridge and look at the downtown skyline from it? You mentioned in a episode before we would have an amazing view of the city while you were building up that area.
Hi Egg, lovely build as always.
I'm surprised you didn't put the Shipyard in there, or have you already used it? (I haven't seen all the episodes).
Not used it yet but its not unlocked either as we need the level 5 ore area which we don't have yet :)
Great build egg! In relation to the space between the tunnel to the downtown and the interchange perhaps a San Fransico styled hill town and seaside suburb with tram/trolleys/trolley buses meandering their way up the steep hills and down to the seafront perhaps nightlife with the casino. I was thinking of the terrace style houses you used in your 5b1c town. Also the depot for the transport network could help with the faze into industrial! Dont forget about a trainstation or two. Keep up the content 😊
-at 50:14 on the left of the would be a perfect secondary downtown, with residential towers having a sea beach view.
-Heart of korea or brooklyn may be good to add worker housing or labour camps in or around the industrial area
@12:00 bruh you’re gonna have to get some merch made on that viewpoint; that’s iconic.
Excellent build btw. Today has been a good day. Just watched Imperator build probably the best vanilla airport I’ve ever seen him build and now you build the best port you’ve ever built in vanilla in my opinion. Major props for including some of the Ore industry assets into this build; although one could argue that if you also included some Oil industry assets, that would add even that much more spice to this already spicy build. Well done.
Thank you! I did consider oil assets but with inclusion of ore and the fact we made a gas/oil port in noob yolk, decided to leave them out! Imperaturs airport was class! Thank you 😊
@@OVERCHARGEDEGG I respect that, keep up the great content bro.
Another great episode Egg, the cargo harbor is very well designed not to crush you with travel. I think some low dense commercial/food area near the round-about/interchange would help the industrial folks not have to travel far to get a bite to eat.
The waste processing complex was screaming its name in the cargo port. Its a magnificent building
i would like to see a car factory build somewhere around where you built in todays episode and i have a name for it i think it should be overcharged cars
if it has that name, maybe the lore could be that they have a reputation for explosive/dangerous batteries
Personally, I'd like the other side of the bay to be a different city from Orchid Bay proper. When the region was first settled, the mountain kept both cities separated, but then Orchid Bay experienced a massive boom that swallowed Karen and Sharon. This other town, while small, managed to thrive on its own thanks to its harbour and fishing industry (that has since been taken out), but now depends on Orchid Bay for most of its services
I would love to see a fishing village opposite the cargo harbor. Something like, fishing was the original industry in the area and now it’s in decline, picturesque but still failing. Could also provide residents for all those cargo jobs.
1:25 the hilly area next to the highway here is giving some strong San Fransisco vibes! Maybe you should make a headlands/campground area thing there
Such an amazing build, so much inspiration ❤
Old downtown on that side of bay would look cool , old market station , old market street , etc
I love how impressively massive the port has become. It's a very proper industrial hub.
Finally the cargo port! Loving the detailing on the port too! Great work Egg!!
Thank you bro!
The details you'd be adding if those props were available. I kept laughing while the cargo hub was on fire, you casually continue building like it's a regular thing
I’ve just started playing cities skyline. Bought a few basic DLC to get started.
Making the city look cool and nice ain’t easy.
you make it look so easy😂😂
ok but you had me for a second 16m in with that 'ok thanks for watching', I thought my internet had a giant fart and I'd missed most of the video
Pretty good mega build. I would suggest few things though
1. Ship factory next to the steel plant
2. some Oil storage always gives the vibes of a port
3. Toll booths...... sorry, didn't wait for the end of the timelapse for this
4. The rail warehouse could be used for exporting the unique factory goods better than storing metal, because you don't want to export the metal; alternatively it would be better used for importing the commercial goods
5. The weird garbage buildings actually complement very good the rotary kilt plant as color and shape, it would be nice to try and blend them closer as a sub buildings
5:35 I don't know why, but that super bendy bit at the end (that you removed again immediately) made me actually laugh out loud! Great comedic timing, I guess...
As for the name...Ore-kiln Bay?
If you haven't established it elsewhere already, the shipyard might actually slot perfectly into this offshoot bay area.
A defunct fishing/cannery town with small houses and old style industries could be a nice echo.
On the other side of the industrial bay, should be a large office block mixing IT, skyscrapers, and the financial assets as well as 1 or to large hotels. All that industry would greatly be if it from corporate HQ across the bay as well as the financiers. And people coming in for business meetings need a place close to the offices to stay
Blows my mind that no one uses cable cars. You have that mountain to set it up. Or just to help people cross the river.
Can certainly try squeeze some CC in over those peaks!
Would love to see a truck stop/service station near or around the new interchange!
Super cool animated crane Egg! Reminds me of salt flats, could be a themed industry build
I'm always so glad when you upload, your videos are super comforting
Thank you very much :)
Although it'll require 81 tiles, I can see a build inspired by the Presidio being on the western mountainous peninsula overlooking the port entrance. It'd be a former military base (Liberal University campus) that was converted into a park (zoo and hotels&retreats). The suburbs east of it would have been the town built for the military families, which would make it ideal to build in a levittown style.
Awesome port build! 😍
Thank you! 😁
Very satisfying build. Leaves me with such a content feeling. Glad you left the curvy highway 'cause it looks so cool. Maybe a large unique factory hub on the other side of bay? Suggested name for the bay: Coco Bay. Not that Coca reminds me of cargo ports but time is running out on CS1 and would like to see something named in honor of Coca.
You should definitely add the shipyrard asset in the port, it's a must...Plus maybe tone down a bit the beautification of the area. I don't know if you've ever seen industrial complexes like that with palm tree lined roads for example haha
Amazing build! This inspires me to work on my own city, but then I realize I could never make something this amazing 😢
Great build! Surprised one of the European fire stations didnt sneak in to match the industrial evolution buildings.
An old industrial town that had to repurpose itself when all the industry moved across the bay could be nice. Maybe it had to rebrand as a tourist attraction to stay afloat. It might be a way to use some more of the seasode resort and hotels assets.
Perhaps an Industrial Highway leading into the port? The aesthetic of the rust might be nice by the water.
Portland Maine use to have a large scrap metal depot with a working magnetic crane in its "working waterfront"
I love Orchidbay. Your last Vanilla City (for me its Vanilla!!) is the best Vanilla City :) Keep up the good work. I am happy to join you on your CS2 experience, when out
Hi Egg, really nice work on the industry harbour! I have a nice idea that you could replace the normal highways on the bridge with the industrial highway from the Industies dlc. Thanks for your weekly content ❤
The extended use of the word "chungus" in this episode is wonderful 😂 very cool build OE. Drops 4 assssts, and as always enjoy the rest of your day 😂😂 The road maintenance depot almost looks like it could serve as a weigh station for the trucks coming in and out. The Japanese csr parks reslly do work perfectly for these industrial type builds. Not sure how I feel about that beginning interchange, I wonder if you did a 2 way highway into the off ramps off that roundabout towards the water? Excited to see what happens on the other side of the harbor.
Interchange gets tidied up and detailed next ep, trust the process 😌
You’re just cranking out the episodes! Keep it up
Asthetics Over Engineering
Sounds like ARCHITECTURE
RCE watchers anywhere
Industrial builds are my favourite in city skyline especially cargo hub , u can include the generic 4x4 containers in this build around the railyard,
Loved the episode! Maybe a small africa town using the pack to add some lore that Africans snuck on some cargo crates to ge a better life in Orchid Bay?
In a Bay Area this big it would be interesting if you build a sister city which is a second city centre but more inland, but it would look really nice near the port.
For across the river, I think something similar to your industry/nightclub mix, but I’m thinking something like St. Ives / Hastings. Where seaside industry has been gentrified with breweries, art galleries. Failing that, convention centre and cruise ship terminal (along the lines of Canada Place cruise ship terminal with conference centre here in Vancouver (which also has a suspension bridge and industry across the water) [Vancouver has two cruise ship terminals and industry, one in the town for smaller infrastructure and one outside of town for the larger ships right by the US border that juts out by Point Roberts - should be some good inspiration there]
In Australia we give ourselves lots of fun names. So for Karen factory name. Name it Kazza. And for Sharon's factory name Shazza
16:44 hey i liked that joke
Good stuff. Such a big port relies on lots of low income workers, and far from all of them would have their own car. I think you need a bit of public transport. Some good ol buses would go a long way.
I love the builds as always! Nice addition to my mornings!
I noticed you don't often place medical clinics around new areas. Is this something the game doesn't require? There would definitely be some form of medical in a harbor area.
Keep up the great work!
Love the new area
I fear the day this series ends
We'll be there for each other ❤️🫂
Other side of the bay could have a Cruise Ship terminal, but it is also the sort of space councils put massed sporting facilities due to the low attraction for residential. Maybe a Football training facility + Cruise ship terminal?
37:14 hopefully you see this, Egg, even if it is a month old video but regarding the modern-looking incinerator plant - there is one that looks a lot like that in the UK near where I live in Loughborough, the Newhurst ERF just off the M1 looks just like it!
Would love to see some ‘How to videos’ about mod management and asset management, with links to mod packs and asset sets, maybe a different video and asset collection for beginners, intermediates and pros.
The railway warehouse has two nodes so you can connect it straight on.
I love the content egg! ❤
In Karin you mixed Industrial and commercial so heir you can mix industrial and office buildings like there are factories for the workers and then the office buildings for the upper management or like wight coller people it would be a grate way to give some hight to the build and mix and mach more types of zoning :)
Look out for the lizardmen, they're always attacking Shayzien...
Loved the build! How about adding a ferry stop for workers to use? They can use the ferry ferry to come into work.
What a huge harbour including an ore mine! What can OE not build? There are no limits, and I can't even imagine what will happen with C:S 2?!
Not sure if you know already, but you can actually run a train track straight out the front of the rail warehouse as well as the left-hand curve that it comes with. I haven't seen anyone do that yet, so I'm not sure how widely known it is.
What about “Zimzea’s cargo” as a name for something 🤓
Been watching you for many years now, and the best thing i know is whenever my girlfriend needs a nap, and you have uploaded a New episode. She even asks me to put some “mindfulness” on the television or stereo, and i always put on a video from you. It’s a win win. I Can geek out to your episode and she Can relax after a stressful day just by listening to your calming voice.
Fantastic episode as always. Thanks for you Egg!
Ah that's sweet bro, glad the videos can help you both unwind, thanks for watching 😌
@@OVERCHARGEDEGG they have helped for quite a while now! Thank you! It’s a true pleasure!
Very nice build, I would have put a coal power plant near the steel mill with it being such power hungry building irl
The garbage thing you did back to back, really came out nicely, i hated it first, but I had to trust the process!
We usually get there in the end!
Mail sorting facility would probably fit in nicely in this area.
Please continue these frequently orchid bay videos
yay
I would like to see another smaller city downtown with some of the leftover towers. If it was modded a similar build to few candy’s waterfall would have been nice.
you could add a tain station or some sort of transportation to get ppl coming in
16:22 i cant believe i was fooled by an Egg.
You could fill that blank concrete plot with small storage units. They hold containers.
Egg you are really spoiling us recently!
OE gorgeous thumbnail 😍!!!
Cant remember if theres a postal distribution place in orchid bay yet, that would go in nicely too
I wish you filled remaining port area with a smaller, dirty looking city with industrial origin - lots of red-bricked residential buildings and factories and developed train infrastructure, being home for not-wealthy port area workers. This may also include some homeless camps, casino, night-life specialization commercial etc.
honestly egg, I think you need to build a small mining town for the quarry thats on the other side of the mountains. I feel like making it kinda shady, similar to Karen, though more packed together, maybe using africa in minature or brooklyn and queens.
Love this, esp the rail! But do they all pack lunches or can they grab from a food truck or diner somewhere???
i think a planned company town would look cool by the bay
Could def use a metro and petrol station nearby as well
A Refinerey / Oil Port would be nice on the other Side of the Bay
