    Kevin is an unsung hero of this song. His drum and cymbal sounds are amazing.

    The fading from left to right was in the original Queen recording. That's why they did it.

    Punctuation is everything. One reviewer who heard "Mamma just killed a man" thought that Mamma must be really bad ass.😀

    Where they pan the sound from ear to ear was done on the song if you listened to the original record. They really know their music history and the details of the songs they remake or upgrade.
    The Grassi Guitar does not require a megaphone. It is just a prop to draw attention to who is making the sound. I heard it done live and it was EPIC.
    The star field was a tribute to Queen guitarist Brian May who has a Phd in astrophysics. There were four shooting stars in the last star field, one for each member.
    Brian May also posted this video on his social media accounts and told fans to enjoy it.
    Probably the best version of this song outside of the original.

    Megaphone is a prop! He sings this perfectly without it LIVE!!! Mitch “Guitar “ Grassi

    • @gregsteele806
      @gregsteele806 2 года назад +3

      It IS a prop, but they also throw a lot of distortion onto his voice through the sound board. (like they use compression on base parts).

    • @bridgethaines7127
      @bridgethaines7127 2 года назад +4

      He also can perfectly replicate a sharpie on poster board. There's a video of Scott writing with one and he mimics it directly after HILARIOUSLY.

    • @PtxXtp
      @PtxXtp 2 года назад +4

      @@gregsteele806 yes they add distortion on his voice in the recording but live they don’t use it. Yes he can pull off the guitar sound but it never sounds quite like the recorded version. I’ve seen them sing this live multiple times the most recent being a few weeks ago at The Hollywood Bowl show. The guitar sound is all Mitch.

    Panning from left to right in 'little high, little low' is something Queen did on the original recording of Bohemian Rhapsody. They also did it to a much greater degree on another song on the same album called 'The Prophets Song'.

    **THERE ARE LITERALLY NO WORDS IN MY ENGLISH VOCABULARY, THAT CAN DESCRIBE THIS GROUP!!!** ❣ I have also come to the conclusion, that Mitch is an Alien, from the planet of WTF 🙃 😊🙃 I truly love how Pentatonix will put their own spin on a song, yet still manage to keep the integrity & respect the original artist. Luv the crown Queen Maggie 👑

    Love the Mitch-slap when the first guitar solo shows up. Even when we *think* we know how much Mitch is capable of he still manages to surprise us.
    PTX always wanted to cover _Bohemian Rhapsody,_ because they love the song, and they love Queen. But for both those reasons they wanted to do it *right,* so they kept putting it off until they were sure they were capable of it. That took them five years, after which the arranging and planning and rehearsing had to be done. I very much wonder just when Mitch first discovered his inner electric guitar, and how much that discovery had to do with their decision that they were finally ready.

    When you pick a song this iconic to cover, you'd better bring it. Everyone knows the lyrics and the instruments from the original. If you're merely 'good', people will give polite applause and forget you the next day. You'd better be absolutely brilliant so that those who love the original will also love your version. Pentatonix was brilliant with this cover of an extremely difficult song. I still love the original by Queen, but this stands well alongside it. I think Freddie Mercury would have been impressed.

    In the early days of stero the panning effect was a neat "trick" to show off stereo. It was great to see PTX use it in this, as Queen did in the original. You were commenting on the singing and being "pitchy" which I suppose to be appropriate for a professional singer but what struck me at that point was the stars shooting in the sky. Since the original guitar part was played by Brian May, my guess is that the stars are a tribute to his PhD in astrophysics earned decades after he began and the halted because Queen was just starting to take off.

    Maggie, let me first say that I love your reactions. I'm so glad you finally did bohemian rhapsody. I saw Queen in concert in 1986 in Germany (Amazing show). My only issue with this reaction is at time stamp 6:19 you edited it 20 seconds of the video. No worries though I still love everything you do. Keep up the great work😃😍

    Is this a re-edit and re-upload? A few things to point out: First, in the Galileo section, I think they do that one section better than the original. Queen somehow sounded a little off; maybe slightly flat on the higher voice. Kirsti is dead on pitch with lovely clear tones. Second, just before the Mama Mia section when Kirsti jumps up on the couch. It's a production value thing but notice how many cuts there are in about two seconds as she turns, moves to the couch, jumps up on it, and turns around. They come so fast that it's hard to count but I think it's about 7 or 8. I think the reason is because of the shoes she's wearing.Can you imagine jumping up onto that soft, pillowy couch wearing ankle breaker platforms. Can you imagine if she blew out her ankle in the middle of the video shoot? They rented a street from 10PM until 6AM to film it and they almost ran out of time. In some sections you can see the sky getting light behind them.

    You need to listen to the original again because they are duplicating the left to right movement at that exact place in the original. Also, the megaphone doesn't have any batteries, Mitch is doing the fuzz pedal with his voice, no equipment needed. The wha da da da was Mitch, obviously, and while he was doing that four shooting stars appeared in the sky to represent the original members of Queen. I don't know if you've watched their Daft Punk medley but once you have watched the studio version there is a live version that you should watch to see how consistent they are.
