Chevy over the edge! Can the tracked Jeep pull it out??

  • This Chevy got a little too close to the edge when backing up and slid over the side, but luckily it stopped before hitting the trees. The tracked Jeep Grand Cherokee made the snow easy on our drive through a private cattle ranch and into the mountains of the Ochoco National Forest. Then I used a combination of my ‪@harborfreight‬ Badlands Apex winch with the ‪@MattsOffRoadRecovery‬ ‪@YankumRopes‬ to get it pulled back up onto the road so we could head back out of the wilderness.

I am sure that Riley won't mind you using her sunglasses , hey there is not anything wrong with using what is available! LOL......... Oh the Silverado , to reset the oil change light, turn the key to the run position "engine off" then press the gas pedal to the floor and let back up, do that three times. Then turn the key off and go ahead and start the vehicle, your oil change light has now been reset! Have a great day everybody and thumbs UP to Casey!

    Mitchell Oregon brings back memories
We lived in John Day 1979-1983. Many drives from there back to the Willamette Valley. The scariest drive for me in winter was over the Ochoco's. Coming back from Bend one night had to chain up. Stopped in Mitchell and used a pay phone to call and let my husband know I would be late. I still don't like driving in snow but love seeing your videos.

Almost opening up the old debate whether it’s best to criss-cross winch line onto the drum, or to lay it neatly side-by-side.
I’ve done heavy pulls when spooled neatly and I’ve had the line dig deep into the spiraled bundle. It can make for difficulties, but I still prefer it to the criss-cross method, which looks so untidy.
I’ve also snapped the flange casings on a winch when not paying attention to the line bunching on one end of the drum (it was a cheeks-clenching moment of emergency🥴).
Eventually, it forces and bends the flange tie-bars away from the drum then the castings snap.
Great video as usual Casey, and thanks for the beautiful views.
Good therapy for the sheep who’ve been conned by the global warming scam. ❤️🇷🇴👍🏻

I pulled apart my 17K synthetic winch rope last summer in Hot Springs ORV. That rope sling shotted up the trail about 30 feet past the anchor. I bet it would have drawn blood if it hit you. Still safer than steel cable tho.

I worked on tugboats for many years and any line that breaks under stress, whether it’s cable or rope, can severely injure a person. Many deaths have been attributed to breaking lines. Never get in line with a stressed line.

If you're worried about draw with your winch, there are some good options for high output alternators out there. Brand X Electrical makes good custom units. My go-to is Mechman for offroad stuff. Upgraded the alternator in a CJ-5 crawler recently from the stock 70 amp to a 200 amp and the winch capabilities are night and day.
