Hello, KIm! I really enjoyed your video and look forward to following what you do. THank you for your service to our country. As another stay at home mom (who gave up a small business to be at home), I agree with you that it is quite challenging. But very rewarding and important! I am almost at the end of my 2nd career, my youngest will be 18 next month, but he is a great joy and blessing to us and I am enjoying watching the man he is becoming. I just discovered flosstube at the end of 2017 and started my first HAED last January. It is Spring by RUth Sanderson. I am just finishing up page 6. I love it! I never thought I would enjoy full coverage, but I do. I also fell down the Chatelaine rabbit hole about 4 years ago and she is one of my favorite designers now. I love how beautiful and challenging they are.. Look forward to seeing you again

I just discovered your channel. Loved your first video, and subscribed... Thank you so much for sharing your life story with us, and thank you for your years of service in the Air Force. One of my brothers served in Desert Storm and the Persian Gulf War so I have a sensitive spot in my heart for our military personnel and veterans. I am looking forward to seeing your progress in this cross stitch journey.

Welcome to my channel Jasmine! I love my military family. I've been sharing Air Force stories in most of my videos from Oct 2019 and on...it started as a trip down memory lane because my hubby deployed and then I just kept going. He got back the end of June so not every video has an Air Force story now but I try to include something interesting. ❤

I’m so glad I went back to your first floss tube video because I too am going to stitch the L & L design
“The Guardian”. I’ve been stitching for over 20 years, took a 10 yr hiatus and just came back to it in April. I’ve had that chart all this time and now I’m going to stitch it 😊 I’ve had some trouble picking the fabric I want to use but have finally settled on basically the called for fabric. It’s just a matter of getting it on scroll rods and starting. I find it actually quite time consuming to get a project ready to stitch. I’ve got the first week off in September and that’s when I plan to do it. Your WIP is lovely and inspiring to me!

    • @msufly
      @msufly  4 года назад +1

Awesome! I really enjoyed stitching it, despite it taking me so long. Definitely recommend making dedicated floss cards, bobbins or floss bags (whichever you like) for the blended symbols. Don't waste time creating and separating the blends like I did. I used a dedicated floss box for The Guardian but I used floss cards for Camelot Sampler.

I just discovered your channel. Love it and so inspiring! The more I watch the more I find out how much we have in common. I come from a military family (mom, dad and brother) and support the military. I live in Lincoln, NE and Julie at Reflections Framing and Stitching is my LNS. And horses are my life. I used to ride and show but I lost both my horses and with life, just never got another one. Thanks for your service and flosstube! My mom and I also have a flosstube, Cornhusker State Stitchers, if you find yourself scrolling RUclips.

Yeah we can definitely commiserate together with our TWs with those blends/backstitch/over one etc. She was the first cross stitch designer that I loved and was a 'super star' to me. Love all your other WIPs especially Moon Hare!! That one is at the top of my list to start. I have the fabric and chart just waiting for the right time. Hope you are warm and cozy!!

Hello! I all so glad to put a face to your name. I love your projects; you've got a great variety! I have that Victorian pattern, the one that looks like a scene from P&P. But I haven't started it yet...full coverage scares me. Lol! I'm so sorry about your miscarriages. Your memorial piece is beautiful. I agree that being a stay at home mom is tougher than any outside the home. Preschool saved my sanity when my boys were little. (Now I homeschool, so that's crazy...) Anyway it's great to meet you and I look forward to seeing more from you! ❤️ Thanks for sharing!

    • @msufly

Wow, I could never homeschool. I need some space from my family even though I love them. Stitching a piece like A Summer Ball that was designed as a full coverage cross stitch piece is different than an art-converted piece like HAEDs. I think ASB is easier than any Dimensions kit that changes the # of strands and has more backstitch. Thanks for watching! I put your most recent video on my watch list...there's just so many people who make flosstube videos now! :-)

I'd say no improvements are needed in your video as it was terrific. ... I nearly cried as I could relate to the feelings of being a stay at home mother because I very much felt alone. I spent 5 years of homeschooling 3 children, this is the first year are in a public school as it was too much.... My heart feels for you and the lost of your prior 3 miscarriages as my closest friend went through the same and horrible situations.... It is sweet you made the needleminder as a representation for you and the family while stitching the Angel. ... . I am glad you have a rotation now and have had so much progress. It is amazing to see what you have accomplished, I don't know how you do it while you have 2 children at home. Stitching is my sanity yet these last few months since my 3 are in school, I feel like I can finally breathe and stitch more then ever. Anyways, I'm going on and on. I love your wips, will be looking forward to your postings in our group and future videos. ~*Shana

Thanks! The hardest thing to starting your 1st HAED is figuring out the fabic count you like best, and whether you want to do full cross or tent stitch, then it's fun to experiment with parking, 10x10 blocks, cross country or stitching in diagonals. Give it a try!

We are transitioning out of the Navy (hubby retires next year) so I can relate to the military moves. Did you get to shop at Julie's store when you were in Omaha? Someday I'll get there (in-laws lived outside Grand Island, NE).

Yup, I shopped and had Julie frame quite a few pieces for me, plus I had lots of fair entries the last 2 yrs thanks to her arrangement to have entries transported from her shop to the fairgrounds. I never made it to the fair myself because the girls wouldn't appreciate a 4 hr round trip drive. Thanks for the welcome!

Wow, what an amazing first project. I'm a beginner, and it will be a while before I'm ready to tackle something that adventurous. I wish the pattern for The Guardian was still available. I'd love to add it to my stash in hopes that I'd be able to do it justice some day.

I just didn't know what I was getting myself into! 😄 You'll have to keep an eye on stash unload and eBay if you want to find the Guardian. I already passed mine on. Thanks for watching! ❤

@@msufly I'm a pre-beginner. I haven't actually started cross stitching yet. I did start a beginner needlepoint kit earlier today. But, I've watched enough RUclips videos to at least have an idea of what I'm getting myself into. I don't see a copy of The Guardian currently listed on eBay. I've saved an eBay search for all TW patterns, and picked up a couple I did find on eBay that caught my eye - The Castle Sampler and The Egyptian Sampler. I've also been considering ordering Long Dog Samplers Death by Cross Stitch. Even though I haven't gotten started yet I think I'm already hooked. I'm a dog and wolf nut, and have already collected a couple of wolf patterns also.

@@kevinmonceaux2101 very cool! I love monochromatic pieces too so any Long Dog Samer piece would be good...and you can always try modifying them a bit to suit you...just because it's designed in 1 color doesn't mean you can't add more, or crop things out. Enjoy the journey!

Kim, I really enjoyed your video and getting to put a face to the name I see in Full Coverage Fanatics so often. I’m not into dragons and Harry Potter as much as you but I enjoyed seeing the variety of pieces you are stitching. Your editing skills are impressive. You did move away from the microphone at times and we’re hard to hear. Overall it was a wonderful first video and I look forward to many more updates. Kitsey

Thanks Kitsey! I do stitch other things besides dragons and HP but as I said, I need to do more non full coverage new starts so hope to do more of those soon! I'll try to improve my enunciation and speaking towards the microphone...I had already made a note of that when I watched it myself. :-)

Very cool! 😁 My hubby started out as a mx officer too, but then he cross trained to the ops side. Having all the mx experience has helped him though! Nothing flies without mx!
