90% I got this and 10% oh god.........wow that's super good advice lol. I'm definitely one to bite off more than I can chew - I should strive for this ratio more!
The historical costuming community seems so delightful since I've discovered it this year! I am also a cosplayer from long ago and I am part of the lolita community, but everyone I've encountered here is so sweet and helpful. The "drama" level is so low and quite refreshing compared to cosplay and lolita......
I've sewn for years, but not very well. Until you, I did not iron my seams flat before I ironed them open. Now I do, and I am sewing better! Perfect beginner historical costume: Early Egyptians were totally nude, shaved, oiled and nude. This is the way to start!
I absolutely LOVED it when you said "I like sewing. I don't LOVE sewing." I thought I was the only one. I really enjoy the research and planning. I adore wearing costumes with my friends while attending events. Sewing is just the means to get me there.
No idea... I would personally rather it live on in our minds as practically perfect than make it an obligation and therefore resent it. Also, there are SO many costubers now, you an pretty much have cocovid year round
I’ve been super productive today, through which you’ve kept me company. Tending houseplants, cleaning the closet, folding laundry, and planning my next sewing project. I am tired now lol. These ramble videos are perfect for these kinds of days, because I can put on my wireless head phones and just wander and listen. Thank you for sharing
I cannot even express how much I love how matter of fact and realistic you are. Listening to your "I don't love sewing, or my day job, but I find them satisfying, fulfilling, etc" mini rant in particular. That you don't have to love every aspect of everything you do to be happy, satisfied and fulfilled was exactly what I needed to hear today.
I join you in feeling lucky throughout this year. I'm recently retired, my husband semi-retired. My kids are doing OK. I don't know anyone personally who has had the virus. I have a little anxiety, but best cured by staying home and working on sewing projects. My blessings are many, and my heart goes out to all frontline workers and anyone else who has been knocked down by the terrible circumstances of this year.
yes, the problem of quilting, and dress sewing and working and writing is that you can do all of these, but you have to be realistic about how much of each of these things happens in a unit period of time.
Your 'rambling' is always so helpful on a personal level. I love that you talk so openly about not loving always what you are doing, not thinking you are 'good' at it, how you talk about being technically proficient rather than creative... You are reaching a level of 'goals' for me. I am printing myself a graphic to hang above my 'creative space' that reads: Do the Thing! Best phrase ever!
I would tell anyone starting a channel, do NOT play music while you are talking. I can't tell you how many vids I don't watch because they are doing that & some people I really like them but NO, either talk or play music, not both! You are such a well rounded person, I really enjoy everything about your channel. Love the 20 questions & getting to vicariously travel on your trips too.
I'm an avid quilter who started in garment making and am just starting to get back into it. I really appreciate your comment about patience in quilting. :) Definitely different skill sets, I'm so impressed by the skill level dressmakers have!
#cocovid was an awesome thing to have happened through this mess. I've learned about so many cool people through it. I'm grateful you guys did it. Yes the fabric totally tells you what it wants. Yes people need to stop being jerks!
"Do you prefer bubbles or bubble wrap?" This is a traditional question for me as when I was the instructing TA for a university, I always liked asking random questions on the sign in sheet. Also, it was a spur of the moment question I came up with right around midterms and both bubbles and bubble wrap are promoted items for stress relief. And it is a question I have always enjoyed ever since.
When I’m able to create, I listen to audio books and music...it’s been a while since I’ve been able to, though. Without some medical breakthroughs in pain management, my creating days may be done. I’m remarkably blessed, however. I also have a roof over my head, a full tummy, a wonderful spouse, and a pretty amazing kid (for a teenager 😂). Money is tight, but nowhere near like it is for many; my housing gets paid, and so do my bills. I just don’t get to eat sushi as often as I like. There are new RA drugs coming out all the time, so I definitely have some hope that I’ll get full use of my hands, again. When I do, there are so many projects on my lists! Thank you for being one of the (many) people who gives me hope, and joy, and laughter. Have a joyous holiday season Noelle!
I love these videos where you just talk. It almost feels like I'm listening to a friend on video call while I work on my emboridery. ❤️ Thanks for "talking" to me and keeping me company!
My worst sewing habit is not retracting the blade on my rotary cutter. I got over the pins in my mouth habit when I bought my magnetic pin dish. Thanks for this chatty video. I have been holding up well until this week. I am the organizer for my family. I am responsible for injecting Christmas spirit into our lives. I'm making a custom shirt for each person in my house. We are fine. We are thriving in some ways while the virus rages on. I worry about all the people who have disregarded the stay at home orders. Watching evolution in action is hard. Be safe and keep doing you. I greatly admire your spirit.
I love the rambling videos and I don’t mind you talking politics. I would also like to thank you for the comment about listening. There’s nothing worse than telling someone something that ends with that doesn’t happen anymore! It does happen in Canada in 2020! I’m doing ok. My province is shutting down so I guess we will see. It’s harder to do things with everyone underfoot. Hopefully 2021 will be way better for everyone!!
Super agree, she’s got a very open way of presenting politics that have explained things that I never really understood like the star wars question and BLM because before I was always like but...all lives matter but she explained it in a ways that was like a 💡moment. Stay safe and here’s to a better new year. 🌻
i have 4 cats 1 dog 2 guinea pigs 2 fish 2 toads a turtle 3 ducks and 7 chickens and we are getting sheep soon. cats are definetly the most convenient of all of them
@@dcinrb8538 I'm a farm girl and we would only be keeping a few so shearing would be manageable by hand which I do know how to do from helping out on my aunt's farm every year. My preference for sheep is the wool crop I spin and weave so having access to wool is very nice and my daughter wants to have one for herself for 4h but we will see on that
Thanks again for another fantastic video. I look forward to them so much. I'm training to be a dog trainer and could really do with a pair of pannier with huge pockets in for all my training treats. My cat also loves playing dog training games. Thank you for being so inspirational and positive for when I'm feeling low. Seasons greetings xx
I just finished a cuddle blanket (out of the two layers of flannel)l for my great grand daughter that will be making her appearance in early April. You are a great motivator! Thanks for nudging me to DO THE THING! It will be under the tree on Christmas for her. I'm still trying to figure out how I got to this stage in my life, though...
Every time I see another video of yours I love you more. Thank you thank you thank you - for your empathy, for your ability to offer low-key incredibly useful advice that I can somehow hear and internalize without feeling overwhelmed... For being you, really. Finding your channel has been a serious blessing during this dumpster fire of a year 💗
Hello Noelle. Quilting is amazing, but I agree with the lack of patience. Yes be empathic and kind, always. I just about choked on the pin that I had in my mouth when you said you put pins in your mouth (making more masks). Thank you for another lovely Q & A. So much fun to listen to while doing some sewing. Things are getting better. I hope all is well with you. Take care.
in grad school, I would have totally agreed with you that if you dl my brain into a computer and then erased my body I would still be "alive" but since then I've learned so much about how your body remembers things, especially traumatic events, in ways that the brain is unable to comprehend. that's got me questioning if I would be the same without my meat bag. Cool Vid Noelle :)
ESTJ Capricorn checking in. My partner calls me the Action Hero because I have to just *do* things and can’t sit around waiting for them to happen, and he’s not wrong! Ironically perhaps, cross stitch is my hobby of choice, which takes foreeeeever to do anything. Maybe that’s how I’m learning patience! 😂 (Happy early birthday, btw!)
Love Queens of Mystery! Don't forget the Aotearoa/New Zealand shows on Acorn TV. (I'm an addict, so...). Thanks for the Q&A, I'm new here and happy to be getting to know you. 👍
I am knitting socks for Christmas presents. And I am doing ok. In some ways it feels fantastic, because I have realised that my mental health is so much better than a year ago (the pandemic gave me time so slow down and figure things out about myself) and that realisation gives me a mood boost even when things are meh.
I love watching you make projects. I grew up with my mom sewing. She would see costumes for me for plays and Renfest. I never felt like I had the patience to do what she does. But, I am getting inspired to try. I love period clothing. I think people look amazing in them. So when I actually get the courage and time, I plan to start sewing. I like your advice on beginner projects. I think I’ll start with a long skirt because I can’t find any that fit me anyway, being 4’10”. Lol. Thank you for all the information. It’s giving me the confidence to actually try something that I never thought I would. 😊
As a quilter I had to laugh....I love the work you do and I all I think is I do not have the level of precision and patience to do what you do. I'm a new subscriber an am currently binging you content. I think you are fantastic
Hi friend! I have long hair too, but I can’t wear it down. My hair tangles if you look at it funny, so I have to keep it in braids. If I don’t have time it’s just a pair of braids that I put up in a bun. If I have time I tape up the braids. But my hair’s long enough that I can sit on it, even braided. Also I used to be all about the knits for day clothes, but the past year or so I’ve been unhappy with how knit skirts & dresses look on me. But on the other hand I can’t find a lot of non-knit RTW that fit. I have jeans that sort-of fit, but that’s it. Everything else is jersey, and a bit of polar fleece. Eventually I’ll make that walking skirt... lol
Thanks for inviting us into your world by answering questions! Hopefully one day you can show how you deal with the plus sized patterns...show the slash thing you described? I’ve tried but never works with darts.
Thanks for keeping me company while I sew the sleeves in to my husband's jumper (sleeves are annoying and this is why I usually knit items where the sleeves are knit onto the garment)
I'm currently working, I only have one more day before holiday break and I am KEEN. stardew valley just dropped an update and I want to get started on a new farm for that. My city is getting numbers after months of none (Sydney, Australia) so that's stressful, especially as it's even in my suburb. I've been sewing to distract myself from it, continuing small projects to get my skills and confidence up. Thanks for yet another wonderful rambling video, I really enjoy them for the different perspectives. "Ask yourself why you are rushing." Oof. 💖
love listening to you talk away, your positive vibes, yes if anyone is 2nd guessing what you can achieve, just go for it no matter the goal, sewing , i've been doing for years, am I loving school, NO , but I want that business certificate YES, so i'm plugging away
I love the advice about the 90/10 split. I really should follow this, but I get distracted by cool things that I have no idea how to do and therefore take me years to finish🤣
Honestly I love your chatty videos, it’s like listening to a friend talk about topics I would have never thought about. It’s a bit of an emotional ramble: I am on winter break between semesters and honestly what you said about school is exactly where I’m at.. I am out of time and funding but all the programs I was interested in are not flexible at all with having a full time job to you know...pay bills and stuff like an adult. So I found out I needed one more class to finish my general associates of science degree so next semester will be my last semester until I decide if I want to go back and “if” I can go back. 2020 has been rough, even before COVID hit and it’s just made it harder. I know I have anxiety and depression and I do need to find a therapist but I’m also trying to not fall apart because my husband is having a harder time of things than I am and we kind of keep each other upright and moving forward. My step dad who basically raised me passed away in February and he was a huge influence for my husband because his dad wasn’t around much. So it’s been...rough and I’ll have things that kind of trigger that for me at times. So the hugs although virtual are very welcome. I have started the 3rd book in the Outlander series on audible and finished physical copy of Highlanders Touch last night (yeah I’m missing my Scottish festivals something fierce). I have knitted a couple of hats this month, which was something new. And finally put my hand sewn items through the wash to make sure they wouldn’t fall apart. Pressed them and hung them all back up last night. And am debating on if I want to make masks or sew an outer petticoat for my outfit or try one of the modern patterns that I bought from Helens closet. Also I love the PJ advice I might have to try that before I jump into trying to make pants cause I do have some soft fleece I could use for that possible at least for a mock-up if nothing else. If the crotch seams are anything like the collar in the B&T bed gown sew along I may have some issues. Anyways...now that I’ve rambled on in your comment section thank you for the virtual company while I work and for inadvertently always being there as a different mind opening point of view on things. Love to you, your husband and your 7 fur babies and happy holidays ❤️🌻.
Hi Noelle, I've really enjoyed your channel this year. I love your 20 Questions series and this video is so down to earth and chilled. I love all your little stories and anecdotes. You are right, that there are some positives to look back on about this year. I've been struggling with what to put in my own end of year summary video, but have realised, despite everything I've done a heck of a lot of making (and burning out too lol!) and we should be celebrating our achievements!
Hello! im watching videos while sewing on a scarf for my son. Its an upgrade to a dollar tree scarf. Saves time and money. I hope you are having a wonderful hoiday season and Merry Christmas to everyone.
Hi m'Lady Noelle! Loving your 20 question videos!!! Thanks for sharing about yourself! I'm new to RUclips since Covid. I found you via Bernadette Banner. I am an animal lover, especially cats. (We have 3 cats + 1 Chiweenie dog) I do struggle with depression and anxiety. Your cheeriness and sincerity are encouraging! I've stopped doing much for the past couple years, but we have reduced my depression med and I'm beginning to rev up to doing again. My Mom's Mom sewed for my family each summer when she visited. Once it was matching Hawaiian Shirts for the family. I loved going with her to the fabric store to pick out a pattern, the fabric(s) and all the notions. 🤩 I also remember standing on chairs for fittings and getting poked with pins. 😳 Great memories! 😄💗 Sending you hugs and happy thoughts! 💗😄✨
Noelle, discovering you and your channels, CoCoVid, Costuming In Color , these have been among the best things of 2020. Hearing the phrase "Historically Adequate" made me so happy and "Just do the thing" needs to be a mantra a chant to myself when my mojo is low. Your honesty, your empathy, and your advocacy just blows me away. Your channel has been a source of optimism and inspiration. Thank You!
Yay! (is always my reaction when I see a new video from you) I enjoy all the time I get to hang out with you. Crocheting my blanket is all I have the energy to do. This year has been draining in all the ways, prioritizing rest was the best change I made. Sending positive vibes and well wishes to everyone xo
Hi Noelle. I love, love, love all your videos and learning more about you. Like you, I feel very fortunate having gotten thru this year largely unscathed. I am a type B personality but also feel very even most of the time. I am learning lots from your videos and was surprised to hear your feelings on sewing!!! Thanks for sharing!!
I love watching your videos, usually watch them while I am sewing. I am currently working on my entry for the foundations revealed competition and it's the first time I am competing in anything as an adult.
It's awesome getting to know more about you, and I think you are such a fun person, and I hope when conventions are a thing again I get to meet you! I am just starting in getting into sewing and constuming and you make me feel like I could get started without getting overwhelmed.
Hello lovely! I’m on my sort of Christmas break now (unfortunately we can’t explain Christmas to the plants we care for, so my department has to take shifts caring for them at work - wholesale ornamental plant growers), and for my Christmas break I’m making myself a 1909 walking skirt (Sense and Sensibility pattern), the interlining arrived today - a ridiculous flowery pattern no one else will see but it makes me smile knowing it’ll be underneath the Conservative tartan fabric I’m using. I’ve realised sewing is the one thing I can do that doesn’t use loads of ‘spoons’.
I do the watching something over n over thing too. It helps with my anxiety during sewing...it gives no surprises as i muddle through the welt pockets of life. Bobs burgers for me....i am now an expert in all things Belcher.
This has been one hell of an anxious year on a personal level (Not just covid but other things too), but I have discovered that I can cope with more than I ever thought I could. I am currently playing Dragon Quest Builders 2, reading a book about ancient walking routes and knitting hats for my newest grandson. As ever, I love your chatty videos and could listen to you for hours (please tell me I'm not the only one who answers you by talking to the screen :D ) Stay safe and well and enjoy your holiday season, however you do it :)
Listening to "Red" by Liesl Shurtliff with my 10 yo. daughter, re-reading the St. Mary's Chronicles by Jodi Taylor (and daydreaming of a job in the costume department), putting bottom the bindings and end cap on a ukulele, still sewing 1940's style jeans, still knitting a toy dog for my daughter for Christmas.
Author John Scalzi writes A LOT about the brain as identity thing. If you love good sci fi writing and if you love this issue, I recommend everything Scalzi writes.
I do all the lace (bobbin lace) for my clothes myself and i can recommend it! I'm having such fun with it! It's very relaxing too and if you make a mistake, you can always go back (unlike tatting, where you can't fix it)
Totally agree start with something easy, not a full jedi outfit like I made for my daughter to wear at comicon, never used a patton and never made clothing before.but it worked.
speaking of England, I just got a couple of Cathy videos in for the 1st time in a long while, this is the 1st of your videos I get the gift of lol, studying has to be done , genius I'm not lol, got through term 1 , get to head back for term 2 yay. my favorite thing for x-mas is a new coffee table, my favorite landmark here is our historic Cabot Tower, my son built me one to use as a table. What is your favorite item for Christmas sweetie
Working on the Hamilton Spencer, which is forcing me to serious up my game for embellishments. Which is thematically appropriate, since my last project of the year is kicking my ass as much as the year has in general.
Yes, oh wait, are you talking about "Tooter Turtle"? If so than you'll know what I'm talking about, other wise I have just aged myself. Drizzle drazzle drizzle drone comes into my head when ever I am over whelmed! Hahahha
Thank you for the video! Tonight is a struggle. Just really not feeling well, life took a turn for the worse this month when it already wasn't great so emotionally Im messed up, and Im feeling the deadline of needing gifts taken care of before Christmas for dropping off while just not feeling up to doing it. Having "company" helped get me through these minutes while my stomach rolled, my head throbbed, and my anxiety felt like chemicals in my veins trying to eat me up... so yep. Thats me. Im really not doing okay but this helped get me through a bit so thank you. Thank you very much.
I just want to thank you for CoCoVid. It was just the best weekend during the entire plague. I’ve never been to Costume College, but now I’m really curious about it. Thanks again.
lock down is crazy, but im doing ok. im working on a christmas quilt with appliques. its new its challenging and its fun. im so behind on watching stuff i just started the crown! but i love it!
Sees title "Noelle can't do a speed round!" Hahaha Happy holidays and Merry Christmas from NZ, where today was the longest day of the year and I got sunburned hahahaha
I am currently working (verrrry slowly because other commitments) on a medieval shift based on Morgan Donner's tutorial! I think I made it too big but I much prefer that over the alternative.
I enjoy the ramble. I watch/listen to a bunch of the costube community and appreciate that it's different and conversational. I am also often doing other things, so it helps to not feel glued to watching the screen. Also, I am doing ok, thanks for asking 🤗
I just finished knitting a sontag inspired shawl in very crazy tie dye colors. Most of it was simple easy stitches but I used this project not only to stashbust but to also learn how to do knitted on edging. So only a little bit of "I'm going to have to rip this whole bit out." and a lot of "I'm on the right side so I knit all the way across." I'm looking forward to cons again. I had planned on Dragon Con this year, but obviously all of my travel plans got dashed. Just saving all those cosplay ideas up for once it's safe to go out.
Christmas in Australia - it is currently 9:40 at night and 30 degrees centigrade - it is hot! I personally prefer a cold Christmas, but I also like going for a swim at the beach on Christmas morning and I wouldn't do that in Winter.
Currently 14 weeks pregnant. I want to sew all the time, but since this is my first baby I have no idea what my measurements will be after pregnancy and it's stifling all my creativity 😭 That's how I am right now.
Squeee! My question was featured!!! :-D Follow-up please...do you always already know how to make what you plan to use your fabric for? My biggest sewing struggle is that I see fabric I love (or I'm given fabric)...I have an idea of what I want to do with it...except that I don't always know how to construct that idea and/or where to find a pattern/tutorial for that idea. How/where did you start when you made/make things for the first time?
today i kind of got bored by my plain linen shirt and thought of sewing a waistcoat which i actually have fabric for! Except i still have another shirt to finish and currently all my time is reserved for studying so im not making much progress. But sometime i will get it done (because theres not much work left) and start the waistcoat and be a handsome boy :3
Also, so funny. I love sewing, the actual process. It's never stressful to me. In fact it is quite peaceful. But when it comes to wearing the clothes, i don't really do that or enjoy it much. As an introvert I stay at home a lot (never go to parties and rarely meet friends). So the occasions to dress up are not appealing to me. But making clothes is!
Thanks for another lovely chat, I love your videos to keep me company in my projects and sewing! I did have a question for advice, you have instilled a desire in me to go to costume college (perhaps 2022, 2023) but I'm a little nervous that I won't be up to snuff. I'm scared to be silently or audibly being judged for not having as much hand sewing on the exterior seams and other such. Also I'm worried about my outfits/ skills in sewing just not being good enough. I love your videos and thank you for being here.
You should watch my costume college Q&A ... It will make you feel so much better! But the short answer is "don;t worry about that at all. I spend most costume colleges in No costumes at all! I just go to hang out and learn. Any costume you make will be better than me in my t shirt!!
I'm OK, I guess. The pre-Christmas stress is over! I sewed a few gifts this year (usually I knit them, but only knit one this year) which I procrastinated for well over a month. It will be nice to get back to natural fibers LOL, I used super soft fleece for slippers for my brothers kids on Wednesday and a few little things for my son's favourite stuffie (penguin) on Christmas Eve. (He loved your Antarctica story last Q&A, as did I!) edit to add: totally forgot that I was going to post about other stuff lol... working on: a knitted gnome (mystery knit-a-long advent calendar style, with clues & story bits up till christmas eve) that I got behind on. listening to: I'm just starting The Fires of Vengeance. I really enjoyed the first one and am happy the new one is finally available to listen to as an audiobook!
Yes, cell phones are a great start. Even though I Have a couple different cameras. So far (for the five videos I have) I used my cell phone to record. I found the mic on them is better than the camera.
I wish I could re-learn that it is fine to fail. I suffer from suffocating perfectionism that seems to get worse the older I get. I used to be quite confident and ”just did things”, sometimes quite fantastic things, and then I hit my first big failure fairly late and just... slowly crumpled.
Thanks for another fun video. BTW - I think you would probably love lacemaking if you ever tried it - love puzzles, prefer to follow patterns, pins in the mouth (guilty too), etc. As for patience, that is really only for learning the basic tensioning techniques - the rest is all about interest level in the project, because you can lose hours without noticing while working on a project of interest. BTW the "curiously woven" is from Johnson's definition of lace - I started out looking at RUclips for content for my chapter's lace newsletter. Besides Jessica is just too common and use of last name would just be first day of school all over again. And now for something completely different - you would probably be very interested in the Long Earth series by Terry Pratchett (Omens) and Stephen Baxter. There is a character named Lobsang who is currently a computer but gains his legal status as a person by proving that in a former life he was a motorcycle repairman in Tibet. Definitely in line with that philosophy course you mentioned.
I like to sew while you ramble as I can listen without watching, so please carry on though I also like to see how you learn new skills. I'm currently handsewing an English paper pieced table runner made of 500 1 inch squares.
Happy holiday from southern Sweden. I am also a capricorn so it could have been me You were talking about when You describe youself. The only thing I couldn't recognize was the impatientness. Maybe is it a culture thing. Or an age thing. I am nearly 20 years older then you. I am doing most textile crafts, but I am mostly knitting when I am watchning Your videos. I hope You come to Sweden or Denmark some day. I think that it will be interesting for You.
@@Costuming_Drama I come from a big mexican family on my mom's side. We make a big batch of them together . And have a lot of fun . This year just me and my mom are making a small batch at home. Gonna miss the cousins this year. The"19 " As far as making them it's easy to do but time consuming .

Im one of the ones that asked about cons. 🤣 You saying the cosplay scene is more difficult then historical DAMN 🤣 like you right you right. I've been a cosplayer since 2008 🤣 I'm also the cosplayer that wips an outfit out in 2 days :D I made a wedding dress in a week haaaaa
OMG!! I didn't realize you answered my legit question 🤣 yes! Favorite con is fanime! Im still so upset it was canceled this year 😭😭😭😭 and probably next year...
Hemming a flannel petticoat to wear for Xmas as I watch today. Sewing has played a really big part in keeping me sane this year. 2020 has been really difficult, and last year was pretty bad for me too, so I'm really glad I found the historical Costubers. I'm excited to try to find some events to attend next year, but a little scared too. Living in a rural area (Indiana), and having a family that doesn't share my costuming passion, I feel like my choices are limited. And also, I'm an awkward introvert (2020 hasn't helped with that). How does being social work again?
Currently working on a "hobbity" cloak for my little one. I dislike having to put on and take off her jacket for the car. I thought a little wool cloak with a hood would be ideal to wrap her in for the trip from the car to point B. I had about a yd of wool in my stash. It's coming together well.
watching this as I write out postcards for Georgia.... and pausing to say, so far, quilt making has been pretty easy - no precision necessary because it's just blocks and I really don't care if they line up perfectly :D (Also, I love your activism on IG. I (@stompy_cat) repost A LOT of the stuff you share)
Hello, I would love your opinion on this. I missed your Q&A but have a question. Do you think it would be odd for a Male costume designer and Antique clothing collector (me) to start a channel? I would so love to share my huge antique clothing collection with everyone. Please advise our suggest. BTW I love your videos! John.
I've seen a bunch of comments on this channel and others expressing a general desire for more men to get into the historical costuming space. There are a couple of men doing it now, but it's always valuable to get different perspectives. I wouldn't consider it odd in the slightest!
I, too, am extremely lucky. My life hasn't really changed. Though, I am now at the point that one of my survival mechanisms has kicked in -- if something is bad, I will deal with it, but not talk about it. Other than that, I am trudging my way through putting my sewing room back into order so that the place where I normally go to to get fusible interfacing is, in fact, where the interfacing is. I've been listening to a lot of really good tutorials by smaller CosTubers, and they have been answering questions asked by most of my UFOs. This might be the Universe's way of telling me to F some UFOs. Stay well!
90% I got this and 10% oh god.........wow that's super good advice lol. I'm definitely one to bite off more than I can chew - I should strive for this ratio more!

Do you think there will be another cocovid next year? I thought it was amazing.
OMG what did you play in band! My school was tiny and had no lower brass or lower anything.... so I marched bass clarinet.
I'm so glad!
"Do you prefer bubbles or bubble wrap?"
This is a traditional question for me as when I was the instructing TA for a university, I always liked asking random questions on the sign in sheet.
Sorry for your pain. I hope you get relief soon!
I love these videos where you just talk. It almost feels like I'm listening to a friend on video call while I work on my emboridery. ❤️ Thanks for "talking" to me and keeping me company!
'I like costumes but I don't love to sew' is SO VERY relatable! Also ' need my waist-length hair up when I work': VERY relatable.
i have 4 cats 1 dog 2 guinea pigs 2 fish 2 toads a turtle 3 ducks and 7 chickens and we are getting sheep soon. cats are definetly the most convenient of all of them
that is great!
WOW!
Is your preference for sheep because no daily milking is required?
How will you arrange for the annual shearing? 🐑🐏
Take care and be safe 😷
Mr. Wizard was AWESOME. I wanted to be one of his kid assistance SOOO badly.
I just finished a cuddle blanket (out of the two layers of flannel)l for my great grand daughter that will be making her appearance in early April. You are a great motivator! Thanks for nudging me to DO THE THING! It will be under the tree on Christmas for her. I'm still trying to figure out how I got to this stage in my life, though...
yes, she has motivated me as well! Must be nice to have grand children and great grand kids! My son is 30. but no children yet. be well.
Childhood horses, philosophy of self, AND Carol of the Bells. I have such a squish!
Noelle, you're the perfect person in my eyes. Each question you answer just proves it again and again for me. Thanks for being you. 😁
As a quilter I had to laugh....I love the work you do and I all I think is I do not have the level of precision and patience to do what you do. I'm a new subscriber an am currently binging you content. I think you are fantastic
I love your chattiness!
Never ever change!
And boo on those losers who say you talk too much!
Thanks for keeping me chatty company while I'm working on some stash-busting 18th century pockets!
I do the stretch goals with my baking projects. That's how I've gotten up to fancy patisserie.
Ramble away, I love your rambles. I hope you enjoy the Festive Season, even with plague.
love listening to you talk away, your positive vibes, yes if anyone is 2nd guessing what you can achieve, just go for it no matter the goal, sewing , i've been doing for years, am I loving school, NO , but I want that business certificate YES, so i'm plugging away
I love the advice about the 90/10 split. I really should follow this, but I get distracted by cool things that I have no idea how to do and therefore take me years to finish🤣
Honestly I love your chatty videos, it’s like listening to a friend talk about topics I would have never thought about.
It’s a bit of an emotional ramble:
I am on winter break between semesters and honestly what you said about school is exactly where I’m at..
(We have 3 cats + 1 Chiweenie dog)
I do struggle with depression and anxiety.
Sending you hugs and happy thoughts!
Positive vibes right back atcha!
You're not the only one ;)
@@JulianTheRanger Glad to hear it :D
Listening to "Red" by Liesl Shurtliff with my 10 yo. daughter, re-reading the St. Mary's Chronicles by Jodi Taylor (and daydreaming of a job in the costume department), putting bottom the bindings and end cap on a ukulele, still sewing 1940's style jeans, still knitting a toy dog for my daughter for Christmas.
Love these rambly videos so much! Busy wrapping Christmas presents...
Author John Scalzi writes A LOT about the brain as identity thing. If you love good sci fi writing and if you love this issue, I recommend everything Scalzi writes.
I do all the lace (bobbin lace) for my clothes myself and i can recommend it! I'm having such fun with it! It's very relaxing too and if you make a mistake, you can always go back (unlike tatting, where you can't fix it)
Catching up on Costube missed over holiday.
Finished What We Do In Shadows!
Finishing a history bound dress started at top of lockdown.
I love your personality and how you share. You are so enjoyable to get to know. Thanks for sharing
This was a great part 2. Thanks for doing these!
Working on the Hamilton Spencer, which is forcing me to serious up my game for embellishments. Which is thematically appropriate, since my last project of the year is kicking my ass as much as the year has in general.
those spensers look hard. I will try one day
@@elementgypsy it's definitely not a beginner's project, but it's a great way to increase your embellishment skills!
Sees title "Noelle can't do a speed round!"
Hahaha
Happy holidays and Merry Christmas from NZ, where today was the longest day of the year and I got sunburned hahahaha
Hahahaha you are not wrong, but that was speed round for me! and happy Holidays from the shortest day of the year over here!
Did I miss you going back to work?! Congrats. Love your channel!
Nope, but maybe that i took a at home side gig! And thank you!!
@@Costuming_Drama well that is even better!
I want to sew all the time, but since this is my first baby I have no idea what my measurements will be after pregnancy and it's stifling all my creativity 😭
That's how I am right now.
If I see you at DragonCon I will freak out!! It's my happy place.
The internet nowadays "xx pattern" is a good place to start!
today i kind of got bored by my plain linen shirt and thought of sewing a waistcoat which i actually have fabric for!
I am knitting myself a pair of fingerless mitts because I keep loosing them but can not live without them :D
@@Costuming_Drama thanks so much it does ease my mind. I'll go give that video a watch. Now to start planning what to make!
(He loved your Antarctica story last Q&A, as did I!)
edit to add: totally forgot that I was going to post about other stuff lol... working on: a knitted gnome (mystery knit-a-long advent calendar style, with clues & story bits up till christmas eve) that I got behind on. listening to: I'm just starting The Fires of Vengeance.
Yassss!! Tacos for life!!!
CoCoVid was literally one of the most AWESOME things in 2020!!!!

Hi friend,
I love hearing more about you.
I: sorry my comments are so short lately, but I’m listening.
I appreciate your political talk (just chatty talk in general)!
John.
Do. It. Not enough men are doing videos in this space. Do it. Absolutely. DO IT.
Start one right now, sir!
I've seen a bunch of comments on this channel and others expressing a general desire for more men to get into the historical costuming space. There are a couple of men doing it now, but it's always valuable to get different perspectives. I wouldn't consider it odd in the slightest!
If you are showing your antique clothing collection, you could be from Mars and I would watch! Go for it.
Stay well!
