I chose to purchase the Radmission Mid-Step(Rad Power Bike). It has 1 gear, which means less maintenance, but can range up to 50 miles pedal-assist. It only cost 1099. You also get full support from the company if you ever need repairs, and in some areas, they can even come to your house.

I bought the Benelli Mantus 500 for $1699 before tax more like $1800. Great ride. Honestly its my first ebike, but I love it. Havent even taken it on any trails, but it gets to like 22/23(MPH) on its own, but you can definitely get it up to like 25/27(MPH) if you pedal like mad or hit some good hills. It advertises 70km battery life on eco mode 48V/10.5AH (504WH) Lithium ion battery pack. I would recommend it. I'm poor as dirt, but I got myself one. Best bike ive ever had.

That’s funny the radrunner was the first one mentioned. This is exactly the first ebike I’m buying when my stimulus comes in. It’s so customizable. I’m getting the center council, upgraded display, fenders, and passenger package. I’m going to get ape hangers and replace the handle bars. And spray paint a white star on the center council to mimic old wwii motorcycles. I think it’ll be a looker.

For me, the ultimate ebike would have a 500W center drive motor, and belt drive to the rear wheel, with a multi-speed hub, at least 9 gears, but more is better, and a battery capable of 50 miles. Full suspension front and rear, fenders, and built in locking mechanisms to deter theft. All for under $2K.

Core 5 from Ride1up was my choice after nearly 3 years of research and never pulling the trigger due to so many choices. 500/750 watt peak motor. 48v 10 AH battery. 20mph/throttle only. 28mph in PAS5. $1,005(shipped) It doesn't have the top end components like hydraulic brakes. No big deal. It's a bicycle. Hydraulic brakes are overkill.

Based on this list, the Lectric XP folding bike (not mentioned) seems to blow the list away for $1000. Im trying to learn and shop.

I was thinking the same thing. I do not know the quality of the components on that bike, but the bikes on this list all seem very weak. They have weak motors and teeny tiny batteries. Are all the brand-name components really worth the cost?
Most of this list seems like a series of cheap ads. They do not even give any real range information. And, they say these have good performance. But, 250W is a joke for a 200lb man.
EDIT: It seems that in Europe the motors are limited to 250W, maybe 350W now.

That is sad. Buying a bike not made in China probably would not matter either. I fear that most companies probably build the bike using Chinese aluminum, Chinese gearing, Chinese motors, etc. For instance, are Bosch motors even still good? It is a disheartening situation.
To make it worse, I want a folding bike, which limits my options.

I bought my Lectric XP in January 2020 to get rid of excess weight. I ended up losing 77 pounds, and my legs are like tree trunks. I have 2 batteries and have travelled 65 miles round trip. I currently have 2400 miles on my ebike. Life is great... or, was great. Last week, at 2400 miles, the bike broke down electronically. Left me stranded, twice. Had to walk home several miles. Lectric company says it’s still under warranty, but will take a long time to get the part needed to fix. Coming from China and from I got from the tech, this prob is happening to thousands of Lectric bikes. So, I stop riding for how long? A month, maybe2 or 3.... I don’t think so. I am going to buy another bike from another brand cuz this one is no longer reliable. It’s just taking up space in my bike barn. The unfortunate part is I just finished building my solar bike barn so my bike is propelled by sun and keto... I hope Lectric realizes that my warranty is on pause until it is fixed. They can’t take a month or several months and expect the warranty to keep running. So, if u want this bike, I totally recommend it. Just have secondary transportation and Uber on stand by. P.s. no public transportation where I live. ur on ur own here

Made in China? Maybe some day they will have a quality Control division that does field testing as well in that way they will know what is good and what is bad? Try Taiwan their quality is first class.

There are a lot of small wheel, rear hub-drive folding bikes in the £600--900 range. Comparing them to big wheel hybrids is not comparing like with like.

What about TranzX, they make a wonderful Mid-Drive power unit that is really great. Accel US had multiple TranzX models like Raleigh and Izip, but because of our governments tariffs structure, most bike manufactures quite selling TranzX powered bike, which in my opinion is a Hugh LOSS for the biking community
