Not that big of a difference. I’m sure the drill may be a little faster. But the control that you get from an impact at the very end to set the head at the depth you want is more important to me than that little bit of speed. I’m sure there are people that set hundreds of larger fasteners like this a day, but I’d only be using a dozen of these or so for structural stuff and the additional speed is insignificant to me. I’d bet you’d lose any time you gained just chucking up the bit in the drill over the impact.
Yeah if I was running a bunch of ledgerloks I'd use a real drill with a cross handle. I'm not trying to melt the gearbox of my impact nor destroying my hand and wrist by single handing a drill. I have an m12 impact and a big boi Dewalt drill… the impact has no issue with the 100mm lags I’ve been using on my fence, the drill is ridiculously oversized for the task. If I had the m12 drill I’d probably use it tho
Disagree by a mile with ya, first is work to battery drain ratio, that drill is having to work and use much more and I mea a significant more amount of battery power to drive that screw. Sure…. It might do it faster a few times but even in your video that M12 Fuel Drill barely sank that red torx screw. Drive about 50-100 screws and let me know which one doesn’t over heat or kill your batteries first. You Sir, and I mean this with all due respect: have not done much real work at all. Real men who actually get out of there beds and work hard in the trades for a living know what tools do what and how much work they can get out of a specific type of tool. Drill Drivers def have there place but impact drivers are far more light , controlled and overall usable by a long margin. I sure as hell don’t go for my drill first in most fastening situations. 1/4 Impacts are the shit , regardless if compact or high torque spec’d. You’re M18 example is this test was far more believable but would still result in killing the drills battery as it’s having to redline the tool. As far as an impact being louder, wear some fuckin ear protection or just enjoy the noise of real work happening. Just me but this rant is over.
The drill is going to be able to do a lot more, do it faster, and build less heat. The point of the video is to show that even the smallest drill is better than the impact. This little fella made excuses because he didn't understand the video. Basically, you two are morons. Get it now Kayla?

@thefrankperspective4247 I've done several but I'll just tell you. Impact Drivers are designed for small fasteners, where camout is a possibility, self tappers, and over tightened nuts and bolts. That's it
On a recent project i was driving screws up behind some drywall out of sight. The impact was better in that situation cuz i was "blipping throttle". Bottom line is you need both. . . That M12 drill is an excellent tool.
Yes but the normal drill's battery will drain very quickly. It won't last no where near as long as impact drivers because your going up against compressed force. Hence the impact driver is designed for that very reason . Drill driver might be quicker within the first 4 Screws but guarantee after that it will bum out very quick. Impact will go all day.
Yes there are times when you should use it. Impact Drivers are designed for small fasteners, where camout is a possibility, self tappers, and over tightened nuts and bolts. That's it

Impact Drivers are designed for small fasteners, where camout is a possibility, self tappers, and over tightened nuts and bolts. Short bursts of power and that's it.
I think it depends on your trade. It depends what tool is on your pouch. And depends on are you driving the bolt down or in an awkward position like overhead. It is definitely easier to drive a bolt overhead with an Impact driver since you don't need to hold constant pressure on the tool like you do with a drill. If I only have 1 bolt to put in. I will simply use the tool that's closest to me instead of running for another tool. If I'm driving bolts all day long, then I will reach for the dill. The "better tool" is very situational.
Well in my experience its just easier to use a impact driver cause its a little lighter and u usually can only use one hand when your on a ladder ig and if its faster its milliseconds
The drill can beat the crap out of your wrist, while the impact won’t. I avoid impacts when I’m driving screws through barn steel, for the noise reduction, but I prefer impacts when I’m driving larger screws into wood or concrete
Using a impact driver for screws is the same as cutting wall studs with a sawzall its not the correct procise or quiet way of doing so but it can be done if thats the only tools you have
Use your left hand to drive, and your right hand to remove. This way, the battery hits your body and the drill doesn’t tweak your wrist. SoAlz has demonstrated that technique a few times.
@@ToolswithSoAlz That’s what I meant, just different wording lol. Anyway, I have been practicing that technique and it really works! I can’t really do it with the Ridgid high torque very well, though. The drill is a freaking beast, and I only weigh about 192lbs. The drill moves me a little bit lol.
The impact isn't supposed to be faster. Its supposed to put it in without stripping the head of the screw. You can easily strip the screw with the drill. If you want faster get a bigger impact. If you want quieter get the SURGE, its a better hex impact in every way.

Impact Drivers are designed for small fasteners, where camout is a possibility, self tappers, and over tightened nuts and bolts. That's it
I have an m12 impact and a big boi Dewalt drill… the impact has no issue with the 100mm lags I’ve been using on my fence, the drill is ridiculously oversized for the task. If I had the m12 drill I’d probably use it tho
The thing about impacts is that sound and vibration in your hands in long run
K
Have you tested the new Milwaukee M12 5Ah, up against the 6Ah XC
I'm not sure
Ma'am you're letting your excuses expose your ignorance
The drill is going to be able to do a lot more, do it faster, and build less heat. The point of the video is to show that even the smallest drill is better than the impact. This little fella made excuses because he didn't understand the video. Basically, you two are morons. Get it now Kayla?
@@ToolswithSoAlz aw did you get your little feelings hurt? Go ask your husband for some money to get your nails done. They look about as soft as my girlfriends.
…are there any videos on “this is when you use an impact driver instead of a drill”? We all (should) know that drill wins out most of the time, but curious if you ever did one showing when one is supposed to use the driver.
Yes I have
@ - when I switched back to the home page, that one popped up. Totally forgot about it lol.
@thefrankperspective4247 I've done several but I'll just tell you.
Impact Drivers are designed for small fasteners, where camout is a possibility, self tappers, and over tightened nuts and bolts. That's it
@ - appreciate the refresher
@thefrankperspective4247 no worries
you better know there’s no pilot holes😂 love the videos, bro
I like impact
On a recent project i was driving screws up behind some drywall out of sight. The impact was better in that situation cuz i was "blipping throttle". Bottom line is you need both. . . That M12 drill is an excellent tool.
Your video proves why impact is at times superior. With impact you only use one hand. With the drill you used 2 hands entire time.
Ma'am you're letting your excuses expose your ignorance
My dad would say, “ will you stop worrying about what drill to use and just put the screw in?”
With the impact you put less stress the drill does the job but it’s suffering I can here the suffering
You know absolutely nothing about tools
@@ToolswithSoAlz I’ve been a handy man for 30 years I think I no enough
@frankdiaz7571 Same lie, different girl. Oh Jesus, she's not even believable. Care to guess why I know you're a liar?
@@ToolswithSoAlz you do not no everything cry baby
Ma'am, I know you're a whiny little fangirl b**ch and that the only part of you that's ever been a man is the part another man put in you
Yes but the normal drill's battery will drain very quickly. It won't last no where near as long as impact drivers because your going up against compressed force. Hence the impact driver is designed for that very reason . Drill driver might be quicker within the first 4 Screws but guarantee after that it will bum out very quick. Impact will go all day.
Literally none of what you wrote is true
You are the only man that has not discovered the impact surge😂😂😂
Ask your husband to explain the video to you
I see your videos all the time about this. Maybe I’m missing the point when you say when a person should use an impact. Is there a place for it?
Yes there are times when you should use it. Impact Drivers are designed for small fasteners, where camout is a possibility, self tappers, and over tightened nuts and bolts. That's it
@@ToolswithSoAlz Thanks! I love the videos. I would love to see a few videos describing the things I asked and maybe even stuff I just googled "what is cam out on a screw". haha. I bet you could draw in a whole new group of subs making content geared toward that stuff. keep it up!
I can do that
@@ToolswithSoAlz that’s awesome. Explaining the why to tool choice.
Honest question. So i know the drill is faster. Always. But why is it considered better when i almost break my wrist with a drill vs with the impact.
Edit: im a DIY not a contractor
Pilot Hole
@@ToolswithSoAlz you saying it's faster to drill a pilot hole. Take out the drill bit, put the bit back in then drive. Then unchuck and put the drill bit back in x10; than to just use the impact in the first place?
Tell me again how you don't know what you're doing
@@ToolswithSoAlz a blind man would pay a lot to see this work
Ma'am you're arrogance is only matched by your ignorance and that's saying a lot about your arrogance. Is your husband around? Maybe he can explain how tools work to you, Sweety
in most jobsites youll be using impacts because they draw less power, though 12v batteries are pretty affordable to be honest.
So then what's an example of a situation where you should use an impact driver over a drill? Genuinely asking to learn.
Impact Drivers are designed for small fasteners, where camout is a possibility, self tappers, and over tightened nuts and bolts. Short bursts of power and that's it.
The reason we started using impacts on such things is because it's easier on your wrist.
You're incompetent
I think it depends on your trade. It depends what tool is on your pouch. And depends on are you driving the bolt down or in an awkward position like overhead.
It is definitely easier to drive a bolt overhead with an Impact driver since you don't need to hold constant pressure on the tool like you do with a drill.
If I only have 1 bolt to put in. I will simply use the tool that's closest to me instead of running for another tool.
If I'm driving bolts all day long, then I will reach for the dill.
The "better tool" is very situational.
I’m not talking any heavy duty here, only reason I prefer my impact to my drill is because the impact is 20v and my drill is 12v
Yeah. I'm still wondering who uses 12v tools for real work? Certainly men know not to kill tools on stuff they're not made to be used on.
I’d like to keep my wrists thank you very much 🤕
Don't hold your tools like you hold your purse
Well in my experience its just easier to use a impact driver cause its a little lighter and u usually can only use one hand when your on a ladder ig and if its faster its milliseconds
Impact wrench with two adapters is the most efficient way to drive long red screws but only if it’s Snap On.
Lmfao
Both work. The drill head just spins faster under pressure, but the drill is more likely to slip and screw up the head
Whatever you need to tell yourself
Wouldnt let this lad on a jobsite. Insurnacd claim waiting to happen.
Ma'am the only time you've ever been on a job site was to deliver lunch to your husband
The drill can beat the crap out of your wrist, while the impact won’t. I avoid impacts when I’m driving screws through barn steel, for the noise reduction, but I prefer impacts when I’m driving larger screws into wood or concrete
As long as its at arms length away and not across the room, its the better option
Why 1 handed with impact abd 2 handed with drill
How will your wrist hold out after running in a hundred or so
You're letting your excuses expose your incompetence
Not that it would change the outcome. For speed/noise.
But put the 6aH on the drill, and watch it go into protection mode for everything
K
So true, my 12v bosch brushless drill vs impact driver..
At least the impact wont break my wrist!
Don't hold your tools like you hold your purse
Using a impact driver for screws is the same as cutting wall studs with a sawzall its not the correct procise or quiet way of doing so but it can be done if thats the only tools you have
When you work say installing cabinets it's very easy to over tighten the screws and to split the wood, you have far better control with the impact
Learn what you're doing first
I liked the impact on this one. Is Milwaukee 😂😂😂😂
So was the drill
@@ToolswithSoAlz 12 volt Milwaukee Impact all day. 🤣🤣🤣 I just like that impact with the lights. Everyone should have light on drill and impacts man.
Yeah I don’t like when drills catch and try and pin my wrist and hands against hard objects, although drill is quieter I like the impact.
Use your left hand to drive, and your right hand to remove. This way, the battery hits your body and the drill doesn’t tweak your wrist.
SoAlz has demonstrated that technique a few times.
Use your left hand for driving in and your right hand for going out
@@ToolswithSoAlz That’s what I meant, just different wording lol.
Anyway, I have been practicing that technique and it really works!
I can’t really do it with the Ridgid high torque very well, though. The drill is a freaking beast, and I only weigh about 192lbs. The drill moves me a little bit lol.
Try that with a ridgid. I'll take the impact exery time. Not to mention the reduced bit cam-out of the impact.
As I said, only men know why the drill is superior
The impact isn't supposed to be faster. Its supposed to put it in without stripping the head of the screw. You can easily strip the screw with the drill. If you want faster get a bigger impact. If you want quieter get the SURGE, its a better hex impact in every way.
You're letting your excuses expose your incompetence
@@ToolswithSoAlz yeah your an idiot
Ma'am, it's "You're" not "your" and only an idiot doesn't know the difference. You know absolutely nothing about tools because the only tool you've ever used your brother was born with, and it's your favorite flavor.
I was taught impacts are for metal and cement while drivers are mainly for wood
Impact Drivers are designed for small fasteners, where camout is a possibility, self tappers, and over tightened nuts and bolts. That's it
Just wondering why you always seem to have different bits in either tool you’re comparing? Not saying it would make that crazy big a difference but why not make that part equal
It makes no difference
Если долго работать дрелью устают руки от напряжения, потому что крутящий момент давит в поворот, а ударный шуруповёрт не имеет такого недостатка, поэтому возможно он и медленнее но производительнее гораздо дрели.
Let men use the tools while you watch
Maybe a few screws, but for the long run an impact is less stress on the wrists.
Lmfao! You're letting your excuses expose your ignorance
Both hands on that drill
Lol! Of all the excuses I get, this is the dumbest

@@SouthFLTools I can’t believe he actually listened to little old me, and actually tried the 8.OMG battery.
@@DiligentDave1966 you’re quite the influencer, Dave! I’d like to see him perform the same test down the road after the Max Output EXP 4.0 tabless battery is released.
@@SouthFLTools I just kept posting comments, on his videos of the head to head against the Flex, that he should try the battery.
The Flex barely beat the Ridgid, in his video, despite using a 6.0 max output battery on the Ridgid and the 6.0 stacked lithium on the Flex.
Some of his uninformed followers tried to tell me that the 6.0 max output was the best battery that Ridgid offers. I had to inform them of the difference between 18650 cells and 21700 cells, even though they probably didn’t read my comment .
The drill is probably going to drain the battery faster
Nope
Impact is better zipping small sheet metal screws in and out. Also better for screws with damaged heads to prevent stripping. Both have their place. I do hvac and use my impact 90 percent of the time zipping screws
I want you to try how a different screw head type can also make differen

Why use two hands tho?
Lol
I always thought people use the impact cuz you don’t wanna keep swapping drill bits. Have one to make the hole and another to put the screw in. So more of a time thing.
Arnt some screws even not rated impact safe?
There aren't any longer fasteners designed to be used with an impact
Somehow I feel the impact is smoother and have more control
It doesn't
