And somehow a four amp hour battery and a 6 amp hour battery or equal if the six amp hour battery is not fully charged?
This is not how this works The amp hour rating is the capacity The charge state is how much power is inside the battery how much voltage there is.
Having a lower charge battery that has more capacity does not make it equal to a lower capacity battery seeing as they are the same output with the same cells All you did was Nerf the impact drivers voltage.
Fair comparison would be fully charged battery versus fully charged battery or use the drill with the battery take the battery out of the drill and stick it in the impact driver not give the impact driver less voltage because somehow capacity equals voltage.

With my experience in construction I’ll say depends on the usage. Example: If you are screwing into wood or concrete or any rough materials, you can use the impact driver unless the screws are prone of breakage. On the other hand if you are putting together something somewhat delicate like an ornament for your vehicle or a stainless stove etc you either have to do it by hand/ with good old screw driver or use the drill on a low torque setting.

I started out using an impact to drive large fasteners. Then I got a real drill and realized it was much better. No foam plugs needed. First drill was an original Ryobi 18v, the impact that came in the combo kit was necessary. The second was a "Miss Kita" xph14. More than enough power for my needs, the bosch gsr18v-1330 is better, but I just dont need that kind of power for that kind of weight for what I do. That ryobi was indestructible though, I ran a 6" hole saw with it exactly once. It obviously wasnt made for it, but I got the job done.

The only thing that the driver has on the impact is versatility. You can put not only screws but auger and forstner holes through wood. Now, if your looking for a stud through drywall. The impact automatically tells you if you hit it by making the rapid click noises. So, they both have their disadvantages and they're both great.

With a impact drill u can use your little finger on the same bolts u need to use your whole body with a drill.

Not that big of a difference. I’m sure the drill may be a little faster. But the control that you get from an impact at the very end to set the head at the depth you want is more important to me than that little bit of speed. I’m sure there are people that set hundreds of larger fasteners like this a day, but I’d only be using a dozen of these or so for structural stuff and the additional speed is insignificant to me. I’d bet you’d lose any time you gained just chucking up the bit in the drill over the impact.

I really like my drills I tested the 2 on a home project i was doing and got about the same battery life the impact runs takes longer to run screws in while the drill works harder after a while using these tools i only use the impact for drywall screws because its quick and easier to drop them in and go just on specific circumstances some days ill choose the drill depending on how I'm feeling especially for long screws i prefer it its cool to do it and will save your impact in the long run

Disagree by a mile with ya, first is work to battery drain ratio, that drill is having to work and use much more and I mea a significant more amount of battery power to drive that screw. Sure…. It might do it faster a few times but even in your video that M12 Fuel Drill barely sank that red torx screw. Drive about 50-100 screws and let me know which one doesn’t over heat or kill your batteries first. You Sir, and I mean this with all due respect: have not done much real work at all. Real men who actually get out of there beds and work hard in the trades for a living know what tools do what and how much work they can get out of a specific type of tool. Drill Drivers def have there place but impact drivers are far more light , controlled and overall usable by a long margin. I sure as hell don’t go for my drill first in most fastening situations. 1/4 Impacts are the shit , regardless if compact or high torque spec’d. You’re M18 example is this test was far more believable but would still result in killing the drills battery as it’s having to redline the tool. As far as an impact being louder, wear some fuckin ear protection or just enjoy the noise of real work happening. Just me but this rant is over.

I think it depends on your trade. It depends what tool is on your pouch. And depends on are you driving the bolt down or in an awkward position like overhead.
It is definitely easier to drive a bolt overhead with an Impact driver since you don't need to hold constant pressure on the tool like you do with a drill.
If I only have 1 bolt to put in. I will simply use the tool that's closest to me instead of running for another tool.
If I'm driving bolts all day long, then I will reach for the dill.
