  • In this segment, I share a few tips to help you secure the Kimura submission from the Closed Guard applicable against even a strong and resisting opponent. When applying this lock, it is important to make use of your own body as leverage so that your adversary's arm strength will be fighting against the application of your body weight (as opposed to simply your arm strength). This is what makes great Jiu-Jitsu.

When swimming the opponents arms onto the mat you use the thumb-grip around his wrist and later on switch to the thumbless type of grip when your second arm connects to your own wrist. Why don't you use the thumbless grip right from the beginning?
I just want to add that this is no critic regarding your technique. I never trained jiu-jitsu and hence have no clue about the basics. The combat sports I did until now did not include a lot of grappling. I really wanna try jiu-jitsu after corona and until then learn as much as I can from videos like yours. I wish I'd live near your gym.
