I didn't think of using a slot, I used a circle. I used Parameters in the Equation Editor. I have two main params, Length and Diameter. I also did rough math for ratios for the Helical params. All that is needed is to enter Length and diameter and complete with a Save As. I did it for 1 mm to 10 mm in 0.5mm steps. Now I'm ready to design a drill bit box assembly.
Meets all the requirements except actually cutting 😒 Without getting too far into the weeds, you need some clearance behind the lips so the drill can advance. That's what the crazy looking sharpeners from Sears and General did-they would pivot around and put a roll off behind the cutting lip. Oddly, i spent some hours working on exactly this a couple weeks ago. I never did get the tip quite right.
Thanks for your insight. There likely is some geometric tuning that needs to occur. The statement at 6:55 describes the intent of the content- users likely have their own requirements, this is to display a workflow in the software.
Great video. Thanks.
A very simple workflow to get a great looking drill!!! Kudos!!! Great solutions for the flutes and split point
Thank you!
Excellent tutorial. The construction of the drill is very similar to how the drill is machined.

Nice work! I'm glad to hear the project is going well
