One thing I found interesting about Spike in the first "Land Before Time" is that if you look closely, you can see several bumps on his tail. This indicates where the thagomizers would eventually grow on him, so it's really cool that they included that detail.
To answer your question about the Prehistoric Kingdom Stegosaurus, it’s still coming to the game. Heck they released skin concepts for it a while back.
To be specific; it was released in an earlier build of the game that has since been scrapped. They will reintroduce Stegosaurus soon, I'm guessing within the next 6-10 months. A *vast* majority of the Prehistoric Kingdom roster was released in this early build, and they are reworking those designs so they aren't accurate to whatever the final build will have them look.
Stego is and always has been my favorite Dinosaur, the fact about the difference in time between Stego, Rex and us threw me through a loop. Like I knew it was true just had never thought about it.
4:22 I agree, but we did get a version of an evolved Stegosaur by the name of Atercurisaurus in The World of Kong: A Natural History of Skull Island, so i guess we can say we got the second best!
Fact: Stegosaurus probably has the first recorded “crotch shot” in earth’s history as there is an Allosaurus fossil that had a hole made from a stegosaurus thagomizer in it’s crotch area. As a man all I got to say ouch!
Stegosaurus first appeared in the Jurassic Park novel. It was the sick dinosaur rather than the Triceratops, and they figured out it was accidentally swallowing Indian lilac berries when collecting stomach stones. In actuality, neither the Stego nor the Trike would need stomach stones, as both had teeth that could grind their food. It would likely have to be a sauropod, an ornithomimid, or a Psittacosaurus.
I'm pretty sure the Stegosaurus is saved for a later update for Prehistoric Kingdom as Ankylosaurus was also in the early access announcement trailer but it wasn't arriving to the game until it was recently announced to be coming in the next update.
It's late for this video, but do you think you can do a video on the Dinobots from the Transformers? And how they line up with the dinosaurs they represent? For convenience on who’s who; - Grimlock, the leader (Tyrannosaurus) - Slug, formerly Slag, the brawler (Triceratops) - Sludge, the muscle (Brontosaurus/Apatosaurus) - Snarl, the engineer (Stegosaurus) - Swoop, the aerial combatant (Pteranodon) Bonus Dinobots; - Paddles (Plesiosaurus) [Book character, resembles Sludge] - Scorn, the demolition expert (Spinosaurus) [Character from Age of Extinction film] - Skarr, the medic (Ankylosaurus) [Comic character, never transformed until he became a toy last year] - Slash, the reconnaissance/espionage detection specialist (Velociraptor) [Concept character for Age of Extinction, soon appeared in Rescue Bots Academy, fun fact: started male in Concept, became female in later depictions/toylines, is the only female on Dinobot team, until Swoop in Cyberverse animated series]
Im suprised it took this long to get to the stego considering its among the likes of Trex, Velociraptor, Triceratops Brachiosaurus, Brontosaurus m and Spinosaurus in terms of popularity and recognition. In fact id say it even surpasses Spino and Trike. Its the perfect example of being popular yet underrated. Edit: sorry guys, a better comparison would be it against Spinosaurus and Brachiosaurus.
I'd like to elaborate on the prior extinction stego. The reason it's shown on two legs is probably because it was doing a broadcast roar animation which makes it stand up on two legs to warn the others. :3 The kentro, diplo and apa do the same thing.
Ce est drôle c’est qu’il n’à pas présenter les premières versions de stegosaurus comparé à la dernière version du stegosaurus de proir extinction car le développeur a beaucoup évolué entre 2020 et 2024
I don't think you've ever brought up the Dino Squad designs in any of these videos. They were always so cool when that show aired. I think they had a Stegosaurus, Triceratops, Tyrannosaurus, Spinosaurus, and Pteranodon as the main cast with, and I think the villain was a shape shifting velociraptor 😁 Would be super stoked if you could take a look at them as well!
Excited for you to hit 20k! Absolutely wild, because I remember you celebrating 10k. You’re growing fast!! You should totally do a video reviewing fossil Pokemon, I’d love to see you do a deep dive on the anatomy! Keep up the awesome work!
ZT2 Stego for me is so nostalgic and cute. I always had to have them in my prehistoric Zoo Tycoon 2 parks. (Though they could be glitchy and fight constantly, or get stuck)
Peter Jackson's King Kong does have a Stegosaur (granted, it's only in the book The world of Kong: a natural history of skull island) it's called Artecurisaurus (hope I spelled that right) the lore behind them is that they're very rare,as they're constantly moving in search of plants that they're specialized for eating. And that they were on their way to going extinct, due to competition and scarcity of the food they preferred.
While a Stegosaurus didn't appear in King Kong (2005) in the book "The World of Kong: A Natural History of Skull Island" which features all the creatures that live on the island shows that there is a fictional Stegosaur named Atercurisaurus which has thagomizers running from its hip to down it's tail.
My favorite example of the predator/prey relationship with Stego and Allo is a pelvis from an Allosaurus with a hole in it that perfectly fits a Stego thagomizer. Poor Allo got hit below the belt...
I actually went to the Morrison Natural History Museum for my 19th birthday last year. It had a pretty impressive collection of specimens and I even got to see the skeleton of a Utahraptor. It’s also where I got my first Beasts of the Mesozoic figure, the Kosmoceratops.
the stegozord in dino thunder is crimson, also Stegosaurus was supposed to be playable in warpath jurassic park but was cut due to time constraints, it would have played just like the 'Ankylosaurus' obviously because it's the only dino in the game without a clone, jurassic world alive actually has a 2nd Stegosaurus in the game, it's an omega rarity

Stego's my #2 dino after Spino (I just like dinos with weird stuff on their backs I guess lol). Truly iconic creature. Even the name of its tail spikes is so cool. Thagomizer. Sounds like some kind of mecha weapon
9:39 we also got a Stegosaurus Ranger/Zord in the previous Dino-themed season, Dino Fury. Funny enough, in the Japanese source material, Ryusoulger, it was a completely original dinosaur called a "Needlesaurus" but was loosely inspired by a Miragaia, I think.
Recently in Jurassic World: the Game stegosaurus received a gen 2 version, making him a lot more similar to the movie version, in contrast with the original stylized one.
Fun fact: Stegosaurus was actually in the original Jurassic Park book by Michael Crichton. The scene in the movie with the sick Triceratops? That's the Stegosauruses in the book, accidentially eating toxic berries on the ground when ingesting gastroliths. It also features in a later scene shortly after the T-Rex attack where Timmy (who in the book is the older, dino-savvy of the kids) runs into one as he gets out of the tree where his land rover ended up after being pushed off the road by the T-Rex.
The Prehistoric Kingdom Stego is coming eventually. The EA trailer is from a prior build of the game which has since been scrapped due to technical problems(?); this build is where a vast majority of the screenshots of animals that aren't in the current game are from. Blue Meridian plans to add *all* of those animals back, plus a few more, so Stegosaurus, Allosaurus, and every other currently cut animal will return.
every time i see that OLD stegosaurus design, with the super spiky back and plates on the tail, i always wish to see that in either a film or game as a monster, hell if Pokemon made a fossil Pokemon based off Retrosaurs, i'd think it would be pretty cool to see
i dunno if youve done a video around it or planned for it, but it would be super cool if you made a video around megaraptorids ( i was gonna say a video bout austrolovenator, but there arent that many, so maybe just do one incompasing every single megaraptorid, from murusraptor to maip [ ive also heard people say that the night feeder from primal was a maip or other megaraptorid, so you could include it but i dunno] )

Funny enough, one of the concept animals for Peter Jackson’s King Kong 2005 was a stegosaur! In the book “Kong: A natural history of Skull Island” they introduce it as Atercurisaurus. It was described as the last surviving Stegosaur & already an endangered species on the island. Its diet only consisted of rare ferns that were in heavy competition with the other more modern island flora; same as how the animal itself was under heavy competition with the islands local herbivores. It basically looked like a Stegosaurus mixed with a Kentrosaurus.
I think those plates were for protection, and doubled as displays. Stegosaurus, just like the Spinosaurus, didn’t need structures on the back for thermal regulation, it’s big enough itself, and smaller Stegosaurs had relatively smaller plates or even full on spikes, indicated Stegosaurs didn’t use plates for thermal regulation. But, those plates could’ve made the Stego a harder target to the predators, because it’s hard to find a good spot to bite to take the Stego down.
