    Just purchased the Hybris 500 for me and the kids after watching your videos. Hopefully it will serve us well this summer.
    Keep doing what you're doing, great reviews & videos, many thanks.👍

      @ashleybrook9121 how are you enjoying it?

      @@DTDPT Really liking it! We previously had an Itiwit X100 3-Seater but the Spinera Hybris 500 is much easier to inflate and packaway, and its much more efficient to paddle as it still glides in the water after stopping paddling (the Itiwit pretty much stopped still as soon as you stopped paddling). I would definitely recommend the Spinera Hybris 500.

      I’m really pleased, I only publish videos of kit I enjoy testing, I don’t bother editing the ones I think are rubbish.

    Some questions: 1) Is the drop stitch floor a separate removable piece? (I prefer non-separate one-piece due to easier cleaning) ( 2) Does the very narrow front end "tongue" of the drop stitch floor result in bow being TOO flexy reducing ability to punch through waves and also giving away some of the speed advantage of drop stitch floors? 3) Do the wrinkly looking indented areas on both sides of this narrow front end "tongue" slow the boat down or might they actually improve the bow's entry lines? (4) Is side tube diameter less than on the Aquaglide Chelan? (In video side tubes seem to be a bit smaller in diameter which could help make boat faster but less capable in mild whitewater) (5) Compared to Aquaglide Chelan: faster? lighter? less capable in whitewater due to smaller side tubes? better in cross winds due to second fin up front? (6) Does it paddle OK without the fins? (essential for paddling shallow rivers) Looking to buy the longer Hybris 500. Currently own Sea Eagle 420X (superb boat versatile-comfortable-folds up nicely, but a bit slow) and brief paddle in relatives Aquaglide Chelan 155 on a day too windy to get feel for boat in normal conditions but he's quite happy in boat both on lakes and mild class 2 white water. Also have test paddled Sea Eagle Fast Track with IMO silly inflatable bow fin which only serves to make folded up boat more bulky and require use of rear fin to prevent spin outs. My dream boat for lake paddling would be a faster, slightly longer, slightly narrower, slightly lighter version of Sea Eagle 420X and the Hybris 500 seems to check some of these boxes so any insight would be appreciated. I don't like too many extra doo dads on some boats that compromise easy fold up so actually prefer the simplicity of the Spinera and Sea Eagle 420x over the Sea Eagle Fast Track. Agree with you that seat that come with some boats can be lacking so here is my tip that I use with my 420X. I clip in a back band only, no bottom seat attached, which allows back band to swing up high on my back since not attached to seat bottom - lighter - simpler - cheaper - and more comfortable for me at 6'5" tall.

      Sorry for the delay. Sadly I’m not down the shop to measure and answer all those questions. I will take them into consideration when doing new reviews though. Sorry. I do remember the floor does come out though and the tubes are significantly smaller than the Chelan, thinner material too.

    Why are there not more reviews on this model? At 1/2 aquaglide price, it sure is interesting, but I’m concerned that I can’t find a single long term review on the boat… Do you find the Chelan to be a large step up from the hybris?

    • @TheOptimisticAdventurer
      @TheOptimisticAdventurer  Год назад +1

      This is a very underrated and under exposed boat. I’m taking the three man version out soon. The Chelan has more options (load and buckles, straps, Velcro for seating etc etc) and handles better, that’s a fact I can’t dispute. But, as I think I said in the video, this boat, if that’s your price range, is more than it’s monies worth. If I had this I’d be a happy man and I’d have still done all the trips I’ve done in my Chelan. Hope that helps.

    Thanks for the review. This is a model I'm considering as a newcomer, along with the Intiwit X100, Blue Fin Ranger, and Sevylor Charleston. A main priority for me would be decent seats as i get lowet back problems. What is the issue with these seats? Are there any replacements you'd recommend? The Blue Fin seats get great reviews but will they fit? Are the attchaments common across Kayaks?

    • @TheOptimisticAdventurer
      @TheOptimisticAdventurer  Год назад

      Hi, I used a generic seat from another kayak, they are pretty much interchangeable. Sounds like you’ve got a good list of options there, I used to be a huge Sevylor fan but found tue quality dropped dramatically a few years back (just my opinion). Good luck in your search, I’ll be out testing more soon.

      I’ve only read the spec but it looks great. 10psi floor will be very solid and it has memory foam seats, that’s a plus for sure. I’m always skeptical of ‘full kit’ options as usually the paddles are near worthless and will need upgrading right away. My preference is to spend what I can on a boat only deal, then buy good (basic but good) paddles. Loads of new craft being reviewed this spring. Thanks for stopping by.

    HI, I was just wondering if you put the additional ring yourself or does it come with the 410 ? because from the video I have seen on the company website, it does not have this ring in the center so it's not possible to put the seat as you did, to go alone. Where did you get that additional ring ?

    • @TheOptimisticAdventurer
      @TheOptimisticAdventurer  Год назад +1

      It was already there. Call AS Watersports, they have one blown up in the shop.

      @@TheOptimisticAdventurer Hi, thanks for the info. I guess the photos on their website are outdated, or maybe they made one differently for some reason. I live in Montreal, Canada. I just placed an order for the Hybris 410, and I surely hope it's like yours. They have mixed photos on their website and in some pictures, the position of the front paddler is way more upfront than yours and that makes the front paddler all cramped. So it's not well balanced for solo because there is no ring to tie the seat in the center. Not sure why.
