  • This video is about the history, architecture, and building of Biltmore House.Biltmore House , the main residence, is a Châteauesque-style mansion built for George Washington Vanderbilt II between 1889 and 1895 and is the largest privately owned house in the United States, at 178,926 sq ft of floor space. Still owned by George Vanderbilt's descendants, it remains one of the most prominent examples of Gilded Age mansions.
    The house was designed by Richard Morris Hunt and Landscaped by Frederick Law Olmsted who designed Central Park.

    If the estate managers are smart they will continue to keep FAR AWAY from government grants and regulations. That is the only way this wonderful house will be sustained far into the future.
