Portugal's Village in the Clouds (Exploring Curral das Freiras, the surreal Valley of the Nuns) 🇵🇹

My third day in Madeira brought me to the enchanting mountain village of Curral das Freiras, nestled deep in the Valley of the Nuns, in the heart of Madeira's mountainous interior. This misty, surreal setting was a throwback to Jurassic Park and Hawaii's Kauai, with steep verdant peaks overshadowing the lush landscapes below. Here, I visited the local Catholic Church in the "Valley of the Nuns" before making my way back to Funchal.
On the way to the Valley of the Nuns, I also pay a quick visit to the Pico dos Barcelos viewpoint, offering commanding views over the city of Funchal.
