Lol, just came from the previous video directly after Cap says, "We should limit ourselves to just one hour". I love this channel, never change.

I had a moment last night where I saw the video on my feed, went “oh my god we went for 3 hours”, then flashbacked to Cap saying that, and I just started laughing.

Austin loves Beyond The Valley of The Dolls and defends Bruno in this, so it’s confirmed he’s a “boob guy.” Welcome to the team brother.

I'm actually teaching DKR in my Grade 12 English class this semester and the panels with Bruno was what I worried about getting past my principal. Luckily, he was cool with it.

I think it almost impossible to overhype the Frank Miller Daredevil run. Issue for issue it is one of the highest creative peaks in marvel history. The Roger McKenzie issues that Miller draws before he takes over writing are also good and have some incredible moments with Bullseye that really establish their dynamic in the run.

Happy Friday, Cap! Thank you so much for covering The Dark Knight Returns after all these years, and I'm excited for you to cover the movie adaptation tonight! I love hearing your and Austin's analysis. It's been years, but from my mixed meme-machine multiple-choice memory, I remembered Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns being the greatest written comic I ever read besides Frank Miller's Year One; Gerry Conway's Batman run; Marv Wolfman's Batman run; Stan Lee and Steve Ditko's Amazing Spider-man run; Alan Davis' Justice League: The Nail; Stan Lee's Captain America run, and maybe some of Chris Claremont's X-Men and Marv Wolfman's and George Perez' New Teen Titans.
Thank you again, Cap and Austin!

Some people love to say this is the ultimate Batman story. It's less that to me and more Batman's rebirth as a character into what we know him as now.
This is a world away from Denny O'Neil and Neil Adams Batman for instance. The book is amazing in many ways but also I think it has become kind of an albatross around the character's neck, because we can't seem to get away from it. What's weird is that this is a problem (particularly in the comics) that seems to have gotten worse with each successive generation.
Like in the 90s for instance, Batman didn't feel tonally subsumed into this the way he does now. Though that may have been because Denny O'Neil was the Batman editor through all of that time and didn't allow that to happen.

Captain Logan, When will you do a Superhero Rewind on V for Vendetta, one of my all-time favorite superhero movies and compare it to the graphic novel.

It’s probably the best live action Moore film. Hugo Weaving is also perfect casting.

2:07:12 For years, I had a pitch for a sequel trilogy to Nolan’s that adapted, combined, and morphed this, Batman Beyond, and KnightsEnd into one. With massive changes, of course. Suffice to say, I agree that the two could be combined into one. I intended the Mutant Gang to break up into the Sons of Batman and the Jokerz; Terry McGuinnis needs to be a Son of Batman that realizes some of the members are corrupt, and that’s what gets his father killed. Almost like a Flass-gunning-for-Gordon thing. Terry is basically your Carrie Kelly, and Mr. Powers/corporate politics replaces the more decidedly 80s politics in the source material.

Insane to think that in the entire history of Geekvolution this has never been covered. Especially since you're such a big Batman guy. I get it though because what's left to say about it? Also seminal as it is, there's always going to be stuff to criticise and some folks will get really upset about that.

DKR is pretty good, but we all know that All Star Batman & Robin is the best Batman story. It is truly a "postmodern" masterpiece.

People who dislike Snyder Batman, Batman killing and brutal Batman etc can hold this comic responsible
This started the trend of Batman as a punisher and using more violence than necessary

    • @B.A.G.Studios
      @B.A.G.Studios 21 день назад +3

But importantly, that is a misinterpretation of this material. This book is very clear that he’s still not killing. He’s using a tank, but it fires rubber bullets. That’s the whole point. I blame Snyder for misunderstanding, not Miller for writing a good book.

@@rikardandersson183Joker kills himself. Batman is pushed to crippling him, but he doesn't kill him. Also Batman injuring criminals is not a concept invented for this story.

Crippling and blinding him is so much different, right?
The violence purely for sadism and punishment is new, unless you go really far back to a few issues of the late 30s and early 40s when he was really just a The Shadow copy
