Glad you haven't played the OG too, same. I did play FF7 Crisis Core Reunion after it came out after Yuffie's DLC. It helped me to get to know Zack more and you get to see when Aerith and Zack first met which is cool. The gameplay was the same so I figure, why not.
I can't stop thinking about it either, beat it over a month ago. While you wait, just listen to the music until part 3. And of course don't play OG or Crisis Core and STAY AWAY from the Internet lol

In the Aerith scene in her garden, they are looking at the souls of all the people who died during the plate crash, joining the life stream. That's why she talks about how important it is to live you life to the fullest and all that. That's my interpretation at least.
Yep. I had the exact same thought the first time I played Remake. So glad I got it on my first play through.
Totally how I interpret this as well. Makes sense for her to start praying while looking at it and start talking about death right after.. Love Aerith.
I certainly won't argue with that interpretation.
The Yuffie date really exemplifies how way back in _Remake,_ Biggs mentioned that Cloud really is still so much like a kid in a lot of ways. Yuffie is the only one who gets Cloud to drop his tough facade in a way no one else really does because she sees how different he is from Sonon because she sees him from a kid's perspective. She can tell Cloud fakes it with emotions he's no good at the same way she does, so she's trying to give him the break she knows they both need away from everyone else being serious adults all the time.
I didn't expect their date to be one of my favourites, but the way how they both FINALLY get a chance to sort of just be kids and actually play around non-seriously with her music is PERFECT for that. They have little moments of both just goofing around during the play, and after all of Yuffie sharing, they both sort of admit to themselves that they're a bit awkward, and so they don't feel ashamed about playing around and just being nice to each other in ways they can't without dropping all the adult-like judgement.
This gave them both a real moment of escapism and vulnerability that didnt have emotional pressure in a way that life hasn't ever freely let them have in the story so far… which really got to me.
The way you talked about Aerith & Zack during that and also finally got to see Varvados' final dialogue after the ending made this really emotional to watch again in the best (tearful) way, so thanks for all your thoughts and theories on EVERYTHING!!
The two details I wanted to point out is first at 26:30 - the way Cloud's sword gets the energy around it is showing that Cloud uses up his Limit Break to save Aerith, which is the other reason it's not instantly full like everyone else's when the Jenova battle starts.
Lastly, Barret's the one handling things with Cloud at the end while Tifa's the only one without dialogue. Not only did Tifa lose Aerith but in the Lifestream she was most worried about losing Cloud to Sephiroth which is what it seems like is happening and she feels like she lost them both… meanwhile, Barret already experienced meeting his mentally fractured best friend talking to his dead wife in an empty room so he's emotionally processed how to handle Cloud and try to save him the way he couldn't help Dyne.
That's why the story about their relationships to all the other characters are so important and why it was extra great getting to watch you experience all the date scenes.
I hope Julia plays Kingdom Hearts at one point!!! Just in relation to FF7

I think part of the reason I stuck with this playthrough instead of one of the countless others on RUclips is because Julia reminds me a lot of my sister. Just the little things in the way she talks/ acts. My sister just got married yesterday. Thanks for sharing this journey with us, Julia. I wish you nothing but happiness for your wedding/ marriage just like my real sister lol. Hopefully we meet again when the next game comes out ❤
Loved watching your playthrough. You had a great theory crafting session, too. Our playthroughs of the game took almost the same amount of time. Mine came in at just over 130 hours and I loved every minute of it... except a couple minutes (Cait Sith dungeon)

I'm more happy that you learned to love these characters and appreciate the love the developers put into this game. I can't wait to watch you play/react to the final game in the future. Now play FFX, and then Kingdom Hearts (Just 1 & 2 is fine, and maybe Birth By Sleep, okay at that point, play 3 also 🤣)

I don't know if you're into reading, but there is a canonical tie-in novel called Traces of Two Pasts that's quite short, ties in really nicely to Aerith and Tifa's backstories and is really sweet if you want some more Rebirth-analogous content without committing to playing multiple other games :) [it's written by the main scenario writer of Remake and Rebirth]

thankfully, Remake/Rebirth producer already confirmed there will be a definite and "satisfying" conclusion for Part 3. No ambiguous endings or leaving us to cook indefinitely.
I rewatched the Aerith prayer scene. I saw no tentacles whatsoever. Are you sure you didn’t get confused by all the Whispers flying around?
I think she means the spiral design on the murals of the altar. I personally don't think much of it, but it was an interesting observation

I think most people (looking at chat and people's reactions) get to stuck up on focusing on the set amount of realities showcased to us in the game. However, these realities are not really important because what the game is ultimately trying to tell us that is that there are infinite amount of realities. All which will eventually die and become a part of the planet and the lifestream:
_"The planet encompasses a multitude of worlds, ever unfolding. Some quickly perish, while others endure. Yet even the most resilient worlds are doomed to fade. Nevertheless, their loss is not to be mourned. Because it is not death, but a homecoming that awaits them. And in the planet's embrace all is as one "_
The medium that connects these infinite amount of worlds/dreams/realities is the lifestream. Aerith is a wild card in Sepiroth's plans because she is the last living Cetra and is connected to the planet/lifestream. She has the ability to "see everything". We get some insights into this when Gi Nattak says: _"Be quiet, the planet is listening... Anything that reaches the planet's ears in due time reaches those of the Cetra."_
This explains Aerith's different awareness levels throughout the game, she knows so much more than anyone else. However, the whispers took away her awareness away from her in the end of Remake after beating the arbiter of fate. In Rebirth you get to experience Aerith, just living her "one life" with her friends, but when she touches the lifestream when visiting "the Village of the Gi", She starts to regain her Cetra awareness again for the end of the game... Even in the Remake you can tell that she knows SO much more than everyone else, even when meeting Cloud for the first time, you can tell that she already knows him. To her, she is reuniting with Cloud once again.
I still feel hungover from the ending of this game and I can't move on....

I'd like to know how you interpret that when the camera goes to Tifa, we get a POV of Cloud and Aerith going back and forth between blood and no blood, then the camera goes back to Tifa. It's a movie making technique to emphasize what a particular character sees.
Great play through, it's good to see the reactions of people who didn't play the original. Did you clock that all the dialogue that Aerate says in the ending cutscene is re-hashed from rebirth and remake? Only people who have crossed into other worlds appear to be able to see the ripple in the sky. Is the Cloud at the end of the game the same one from up until the temple?
If you are ever interested on a little bit behind the scenes of Rebirth, SquareEnix youtube channel has 3 or 4 short videos with the people involved on making the game: Story, sound designers, environment designers, character designers, voice actors, etc.
It's a fantastic watch and lets you see the faces of the people who made this masterpiece of a game. I don't know if you actually watch RUclips at all on your time 😅, but I personally felt that I needed to know who made this game possible.

Sephiroth shares his "gift" with Cloud, the gift being the ability to see and interact with the fractured worlds. There are reasons not yet fully revealed at the end of Part 2, but Cloud isn't capable of differentiating between reality and the fractured worlds, which explains his delusion. Sephiroth has been trying to wedge Cloud away from his friends since ch2 of Remake and isolate him, and the moment after Aerith pushes Cloud and Sephiroth talks to him in-between worlds is the culmination of all those moments

I loved that you embraced every aspect of this game. That you cared about the whole cloud/tifa/aerith dynamic and fell in love with all of it like any real fan does. Waiting for part 3 and in the words of zack himself "what in the heck is going on!"

Aside from the hand holding, there’s also “I’m trying so hard to find you” was also repeated in the Sleeping Forest when she says (paraphrased) “Focus on you, Cloud, the real you. The one I’m trying to find.”

The 'tentacles' under Aerith as she prays looks more like the life stream sprouting out. It's a place for cetra so it wouldn't make sense to have a place dedicated to Jenova.
If you're interested in more info about FFVII. Watching story beats from FFVII ever crisis on youtube are really good. It doesn't spoil anything for the third game. It has a lot of back story of Sephiroth from when he was 12-15. It has Glenn in it too.
Kingdom hearts has the best characters and it also has a similar FF combat system. But it has a complex narrative like Rebirth but youll definitely enjoy it

I loved the KH 1 and 2 but after that there are so many stupid spin offs that convolute the story into oblivion. I couldn't even get into KH3 because of how random everything felt

I am 40+ and still really enjoy Kingdom Hearts. It's just extremely sincere, heartfelt and wholesome. The story gets pretty convoluted but it's seriously not as bad as people say as long as you play the important games in order, and you completely ignore anything related to the mobile games (that's where I draw the line).

Aeriths date is the most important to the narrative and once you understand more about the game you'll understand why her date is so important. Cloud and Aerith are like soulmates that constantly fall in love in every universe but fate tears them apart.
I would give Kingdom Hearts a try if you enjoyed FF7 Rebirth. It has alot of lovable characters just like the first time you fell in love in the Remake playthrough. You'd love it!
No. Unless she is a huge huge Disney fan I wouldn’t touch kingdom hearts with the 10 foot pole, it could be because I’ve seen so many people play it lately. I’ve just gotten bored of it, but the worlds are just not good or fun. Unless you fall in love with the combat.
Yeah as much as all those who either grew up on or had the pleasure of playing then during their formative years enjoyed the experience, Kingdom hearts is not something that an adult with absolutely no experience can easily get Into for a variety of reasons.

Aside from the fact that Tifa got close to Aerith, a part of me thinks she's not saying anything because she saw something during Aerith's death that has her puzzled. You'll notice that, as the gang is approaching the landing after Aerith's "death", the camera goes to Tifa, we see a perspective of Cloud holding Aerith that goes bak and forth between her tired and her bloodied before the camera goes back to Tifa. I think that that's Tifa seeing two realities switching back and forth on her. One with Aerith alive and the other with Aerith dead. Obviously, she's processing Aerith's death for the moment. But, once she gets through her grief, I can't help but wonder if Tifa is privately questioning what she thinks she saw.
@@renegade637There’s also the possibility that she’s wondering if Cloud actually killed Aerith as well. The way her and Barret act during the ending could suggest Tifa is super conflicted about what she actually saw.

Yeaaaah Kingdom hearts is definitely not something an adult can casually and easily get into for a variety of reasons if they've had absolutely zero experience with them growing up.

Aerith will be miss. Her wards are too OP on the end game. The ATB ward and Yuffie’s brumal form is actually broken. Tifa and Planet Protection combo makes hard mode a joke. Imagine if the “Great Gospel” is actually in the game….
One thing to note, which a lot of people miss, is that Jenova is harnessing the power of the WHITE MATERIA during the final battle. Just look at the chest, even using some abilities Aerith has.. the chest then explodes with white magic/whispers after you defeat her.
We're told that materia contains knowledge or memories of the ancients. Perhaps Jenova gained knowledge on Aerith during that moment and is now able to form realistic illusions. It's all so crazy but I do believe the Aerith Cloud sits next to and walks off with at the lake scene was a Jenova illusion.
Another cool physical detail is during phase 2 of that same boss fight, Jenova's wings are pink like Aerith's ribbon with the materia in the center.
It'd be wack if the Edge of Creation Aerith, graveside Aerith, and ending Aerith are all different. (Great Aerith, Jenova Aerith, Alt World Aerith respectively)
They all have different tones. The first one is triumphant and almost like she's at a peak of power and understanding; a bit like Remake finale Aerith where she has all her own awareness. The second is ominous and barely fits in with anything else (its creepy like you'd think Tifa would have been if she was actually Jenova this whole time) The third is sincere seeming and also says "Goodbye" on her own.
I think it’s pretty obvious Tifa was Jenova the whole game. I’m surprised more people aren’t saying that, everything points to it except for the lifestream bit.

The scariest part of this game all happens off screen and thats Sephiroth hunting down all timeline Aeriths and murdering her over and over and over again.
Going with the rules of engagement as follows: Nothing not included in remake/rebirth. Nothing not referred to in this video. Can bring in thoughts given from other youtubers. Can bring in things from remake that may have been forgotten. Cannot speak on things that may spoil what could remain true to the original events up ahead.
18:55 As they approach, we are shown Cloud and Aerith. We are shown Sephiroth. For Barret, we see and hear him. Some youtubers pointed out they don't think Barret could see Sephiroth and may have said it to Cloud. I believe, however, the party could see Sephiroth. However, given the glitches appear when Tifa sees, and given the description of Jenova Dreamweaver from remake that Jenova can project illusions, it is very possible Tifa may be left with the impression Cloud killed Aerith. Given the difference in opinion between characters on whether Aerith is or isn't dead, it is bound to be very interesting going forward. There is a huge emphasis on the blood literally dripping from Cloud's hands in regards to Tifa, and we dont know can or cannot see Sephiroth here. There is a key on when Sephiroth is real or not but that falls outside the rules here.
Since you mentioned it, I will say FF7 as a compilation is known for using UI to convey story. The limit thing can be seen in remake when facing Jenova for the first time, only Cloud has an empty gauge.

28:31 Glad you mentioned this. I cant say specifics. But here she also mentions it being a dream, note what is in the background. Aerith is looking at gaseous lifestream, this isnt visible to the naked eye as the Cosmo Canyon scene showed us. If we recall Bugehagen, the lifestream is a river, a resovoir, in the sky which holds the spirit. Mako, a fluid in the ground, holds the body. (I'm not 100% certain this was heard in your videos but it is very specifically brought up by npcs in cosmo canyon. Specifically planetologists making sense of death.) I can't say anything more. But white materia as used in remake/rebirth has significance here. This is all new context never before used in the OG.

I'm sad it didnt give you the choice to learn an answer. Each choice gives a different piece of the puzzle though it doesnt matter who plays as Rosa, as she represents the Goddess of the story.

Facial animation is different for every language for both remake and rebirth.
Remake only covered about the first 6 hours of the OG. Rebirth covered most of disc 1, leaving about sooo much.

For future ff considerations
Ff 10 may give you something to think about for 7.
The same team that made remake/rebirth is the team that made 13.
The writers for 7 also wrote 8, 10, 12, 15.
Ff Strangers of Paradise is a Souls game. It also prequels FF1.
Ff 3 and 4 have pixel and 3d remakes. You may meet someone you know in here.
Ff16 is very... Devil May Cry.
Ff9 is awesome, but has a remake in the works, as well as an amazing voice over mod in the works.
My wife loves 4, 6, and 9 the most. I lean 7, 12, and tactics as my favorites though 12 and tactics are the same world. 10 is my 4th. Many contest 6th as the best.
Crisis Core will not spoil part 3 in any meaningful way, but will give completely new life to both remake and rebirth in case if you revisit them.

The main complaint, with which I agree, is that by creating the multiverse, the authors deprived the plot of the drama that the original game had.
In the Crisis Core, nothing was changed and it became a real Reunion.

Zack died like in the OG, all the indications are there. Same with Aerith. But the devs want people to keep talking and theorizing.
We'll see how part 3 hashes out.
Give Kingdom hearts series a shot. Yeah it's confusing a little bit but you'll pick up once you go thru the whole series. Also the characters are so cool

Something that a lot of people may not know is that the age of consent in both Japan and the US varies depending on where the person is. In Japan, it varies between 13 and 20 depending on the prefecture you are in. In the US, it varies between 16 and 18 depending on the state.

I'm not sure why it's visible now but she can't see Aerith later other than the fact that both realities are merging in front of her in that moment within the rainbow effect and that's why she's seeing both simultaneously.

I have a question, how do you think sephiroth can go between worlds whenever he feels like it, and how can aerith do it aswel. Why is he trying to find aerith, and why does he want to kill her? Would love to know your thoughts on that
My only real theory, is that the reason cloud is seeing aerith, is because the devs wanna keep her in the game, instead of her just dying, have cloud see her so she is always present. As players, we dont want a game without aerith. Thats my take on it
The only way to keep her in the game is have cloud be in denial of her death. When the rainbow disappears, and you get a fright irl, sephiroths sword is in a different location. It's impaled through aeriths stomach. Cloud never saved her. The blood we see is leaking out of aerith, not from the sword. But look nobody knows for sure, even us og players, we have no idea what will happen in part 3.

Maybe I am reading too much into this but there seems to be a lot of emphasis on the number 7 and if you look carefully at that shot with Sephiroth explaining the true nature of reality you can clearly see 7 "bubbles" which could signify 7 different worlds/realities active right now and we got a glimpse at a few of them and in no particular order:
Reality 1 - OG FF, i think we see it when Cloud is crying holding Aerith and talking, Cloud actually talks about Aerith here during her demise in the OG
Reality 2 - A reality where Cloud saves Aerith and she's alive and well
Reality 3- Cloud/Aerith unconscious and Zack running around
Reality 4 - The "huskey" reality where Cloud and Aerith have their date. I noticed she has a pin on her jacket she doesn't have on any other.seems to be the same flower type that she prefers. two flowers together signifying a reunion
Reality 5 - The reality that got "created" when Zack decides to help unconscious Cloud from reality 3
Reality 6 - The reality that got "created" when Zack decides to help Biggs from reality 3. Spanning this new reality showing Biggs eating crisps from a Pug Stamp pack
Reality 7 - The reality we are living in this Remake/Rebirth
This is purely theoretical and I may be missing out on "realities" but if i'm not the math is mathing. Something during the third part is going to cause a reality clash of some sort.
Part 3 is going to be uncharted territory. locales will be the same sure, some certain beats will still be there but it will all be different in my opinion especially after the tagline at the end "No promises to keep at journey's end" which my takeaway is : Regardless of what Aerith makes Cloud promise and regardless of what the Aerith that said she will do all she can to stop Meteor, they will both fail and more will need to be done than what was done in OG to stop Sephiroth

With regards to Aerith's "death", Nomura has confirmed via Ultimania that Cloud successfully saved Aerith. So, the best way to interpret what happened is that Cloud's deflection created an alternate timeline where she survived while she dies in the "Rebirth" timeline.
Did he? Ultimania was ambiguous on purpose, they wanted us confused about what happened with her. I firmly believe he saved her and created a new world in which she's alive. But it is not something they will confirm or deny till p3.

I agree that Cloud is basically a different person depending on who he's with at any moment. Tifa & Cloud is the down-to-earth blue collar couple who live a quiet life together for 50+ years. Cloud & Aerith is the "fun" couple. Both have some really messy issues they need to sort out though 😂

But if you're seeing this about them as all the time then I can't agree. R trilogy is meant to link to Advent Children so the 'messy issues they need to sort out' also applies to Cloud and Tifa. Unless you haven't seen the movie or read OTWTAS 🤔
What Cloud and Tifa have is a pretty realistic and complicated relationship. It's what I love about them and It's what makes them relatable to a lot of people. Painting them as down to earth/quiet life sounds like mischaracterization 🙃

My theory is that the aerith cloud sees at the end is jenova earlier on she says to him dont worry about sephiroth. I'll take care of him. And then in the final cutscene "Aerith "is happy when he says he'll get him

the issue with that theory (granted, it's barely an issue) is that Nanaki also sensed Aerith at that time. So unless Jenova was somehow able to affect both of them and no one else, it kinda falls apart. Honestly I don't think Cloud is a broken as everyone thinks he is. He for sure knows that Aerith is dead, but he's able to communicate with her, either across the fractured worlds or through the lifestream.
@@kingrama521 The bigger issue with this theory IMO is a more practical one. It's a very heartfelt goodbye from Aerith, after she died. They're not going to taint that scene later by going "oh ho ho! It was ACKSHUALLY JENOVA!"
It also makes no sense for a Jenova Aerith to say goodbye to no one after everyone else flies away. That's where both the Jenova Aerith and Delusion Aerith theories fall apart.

I'm spacing this down here so that julia doesn't read it. Aerith always kinda existed in the lifestream after her death there's a book about her existing in the life stream and also she and zack talk to cloud in advent children
@@rhaspados666 Yes, I think the scene with Zack was either pushed to part 3, or always intended for part 3. They included it at the end of Intergrade because it has no spoilers for Rebirth but lets you know Zack will be a significant part of it. His actual scenes in Rebirth are basically all spoilers.
One peculiar detail about the ending scene is this: when Cid asks "What'd Aerith do anyway?" and Tiny Bronco's engine goes off, Aerith's skirt doesn't react to the wind whatsoever, which makes sense if she was there only in spirit. But when Tiny Bronco is about to actually take off, it does, as if she was really there.
Just an oversight from the devs? Or does it actually mean something?

The way I see it Cloud + Tifa (and Aerith + Zack) is mostly physical attraction and traditional romance. Aerith + Cloud is something more. Some people say Aerith is just a friend but I don't think that's right at all. If you really think about it, Aerith is the one who truly saves Cloud in Rebirth. She helps Cloud finding himself and being himself, to break free of Sephiroth's control over him. Tifa TRIES to help Cloud but she doesn't fully succeed. Only Aerith manages to break through Sephiroth's curse and barriers.
Aerith is way more than a friend or lover, she's like a mother, queen and guru to Cloud but their love for each other is so deep and transcendental it doesn't need to be consumed by primitive ape acts. Their bodies don't need to connect like that because their souls are eternally connected.
With Sephiroth try to merge realities, and the team trying to keep them apart, that means if we succeed, we will be apart from Zack and Aerith, if they survive in other realities. I just hope Zack and Aerith end up in one where they can be together. ❤

IMoreover, it’s been shown Red has offspring in the future- given Aerith is dead and Tifa is infertile having been stabbed in the ovaries by Sephiroth, it’s clear the father-mother is Cloud.

That scene when Aerith tells Cloud to not fall in love with her is pretty funny / weird to me, because she spent the entirety of part 1 flirting with and seducing Cloud. 😂
That was always unclear to me. Because it certainly looks like she did everything possible to get Cloud to fall for her. So it's possible she actually needed Cloud to love her. Because when you think about it her death needed to have a powerful impact on Cloud. It needs to change Cloud and make him stronger. But that's only possible if Cloud loves Aerith and cares deeply about her.
So basically she's using reverse psychology here. 😂
