I’m in beautiful Fiji for a quick 48-hour layover, and what better way to spend it than going on a mud crab adventure? I'm joining guides on a local river and see how they're traditionally caught and prepared in Fijian cuisine. #MudCrabs #FijiAdventure #FoodLayover #CrabHunting #TravelVlog #FijianCuisine

This is probably one of my favorite videos of yours in a while you didn't just show the food and how expensive it is but you showed the culture it was great
I agree this video was great seeing the bits of culture 😁
Fiji probably best flavors in food
called strictly dumpling for a reason but its a nice change
I'm guessing that everything was included in the resort fee which was probably a hefty price tag, his room was gigantic.
His other channel has more of the culture. This is the food page. Mike Chen is his other page.
“If you are happy when you are cooking, then the food will always taste good”
Hell yeah!
As someone who’s mom is Fijian born and raised, thank you so much for highlighting the paradise where she grew up! I havent been since 2010 and i miss it so much
48 hours in Fiji to chow down on crab cuisine. Mike, this is one of your best videos. Many blessings from Minnesota.
That song at the end brought tears to my eyes. It sounded like a hymn.🥹
It was, the Methodist religion is very big in Fiji.
Explain a lot
They were formerly warlike and powerful man hunters.
Fiji is one of my bucket list destinations
What a great video…. A layover that turned into a main event. From the food to the beautiful paradise, to the fun of crabbing with cool guys, five out five on this video 😀
The singing at the end was my favorite part! So beautiful!
Thank you for visiting Fiji 🇫🇯!! We've been watching your videos for a few years from right here. Hope you had a good stay. Vinaka, moce mada.
Im from Samoa 🇼🇸 and the food in Fiji 🇫🇯 is very similar...im so happy you got to taste raw fish with coconut cream, that is the staple dish in the pacific islands, thank you Mr. Chen for bringing the world to the Pacific Islands, next stop Samoa 🇼🇸❤
I didn't know the first thing about Fijian cuisine until I watched this video, and it was fascinating to learn that their cuisine is as heavily Indian influenced as it is. It looks like those guys were having a blast doing their thing and sharing their culture and food with you two and it made me want to go there to experience it first hand. That song at the end was so charming, too! Great video, Mike!
OMG IM FROM FIJI AND IVE WATCHED YOU FOR THE LONGEST TIME!!!
YAY!!!
This feels amazing being Fijian
Since your from Fiji can I ask what were they singing at the end? It almost sounded like a hymn or prayer.
🙌🙌🙌 Thanks!
@GhostDawgg69247 it is a fijian hymn. English version would be "The King of Love, My Shepard Is"
@@8mile791 beautiful!!!
Loved this episode! I really like when you delve deeper into the culture!! Safe travels, Mike.
Bula vinaka Mike. Great video. Vinaka vakalevu for show-casing what you could in 48 hours of our Fijian cuisine and a bit of culture. loved the Fijian hymn sung at the end. I look forward to more videos of you coming back for more.
Omg ,that club sandwich was so delicious looking,I'm still drooling 🤤 . I loved the way the people took time to teach you the ways of doing the coconut and crabs . Stay safe and enjoy your travels, from your biggest fan from Arkansas
Wow...that singing at the end. So much soul!
Wow, what an amazing experience in Fiji! The food looks absolutely incredible. And that traditional coconut cracking and cooking method? So cool!🌴🦀🍲
The culture was beautiful. It made me cry with joy that you got to experience that. Thank you for sharing this.
It literally says in the menu that the Paka Paka is on a puttanesca sauce, not marinara.
Ooo-ma-mi
The moobs are getting bigger and Mikey is hellbent on showing them off.
Looks like he stuffed those coconuts under his shirt.
Woah we've been the biggest fans of Strictly Dumpling and are stoked he was in our home! Vinaka Mike
Whoa....
OMGGG I'M FROM FIJI!!! Thank you for visiting my motherland!
Welcome to my home country!!! Thanks for this love seeing our country get some exposure
I’m Fijian, I could have given you some good places to eat the best curry in Nadi! If ur going to Auckland make sure to go to some places on dominion road in the balmoral area! They are so good! Also, chahaat in greenwoods corner and Blue rose cafe in Sandringham road is a must for a good pie! Have fun in our little city!
Thanks for showing this culture. Beautiful
Amazing!!! But, what were they singing at the end? It almost sounded like a hymn or prayer!
I also thought so!! It flashed me back to the hymn "Will The Circle Be Unbroken" but from the beginning of Bioshock Infinite, with how they sung it
Really really enjoyed this one, Mike. More of this if possible!
LOVE THE SINGING!!!!❤
Beautiful video, beautiful culture and beautiful people. Really enjoyed the entire experience. Hated to see it come to a close. Good luck on your next adventure.
I’d love to visit Fiji before it’s all underwater. Such a beautiful island and culture
Love it when you come to Canada, especially Vancouver! I'm just over the straight in Victoria, please come visit us!
Fijians are so amazing people, i worked there 5 years. I love fiji Indian curries.
Bula vinaka ❤🙏
the singing at the end, and the circle they made, reminds me of the original “grinch” Christmas movie, when they all sang around the tree. pretty cool stuff. great video you did here.
Let me guess the food is jooshy and filled with umommy while he pretends to tilt his head back hoping his topee doesn’t fall off 😂
Thank you for visiting our Pacific Island of Fiji. Look forward to your NZ visit. If you happen to be in Hamilton check out Lunchbar Eighty 8 for some awesome Aotearoa pies - hangi pies, palusami pies, boil up pies, scallop pies, it's the real deal.
The food looked AMAZING!!
This video, even though it wasn't as produced as usual I really enjoyed the video you took of the locals. Seems like a chilled out place with happy people. Great video!

And the food, the Paca Paca blew my mind. If only we had tastavision and smell- avision! Thanks for taking me along. See you in Australia!❤
So pretty. Definitely a laid back lifestyle
wow...............that song at the end was so beautiful.........it gave me flashbacks of when i played bioshock inifnite, where you enter Columbia in the clouds.
The song is called "Will The Circle Be Unbroken" - Bioshock Infinite Version
You need to explore fijis food places dude! Both traditional fijian and Indian and just like how you go to random places try random stalls! And also try the roadside bbqs!!!
Wonderful review. The music chior at the end was beautiful.

Dude scarfed down a bowl of rice and meat to wait for a bowl of noodles
Mike, if you’re going to Melbourne you should go check out Goje (frozen yogurt) in Yarraville - it’ll be the best frozen yogurt you’ll ever have 🙌🏾 there is also fantastic Greek place right next to it too (order grilled lamb!)

Thank you for this video! We were just in Fiji and it is so beautiful. We also spent time in Australia and New Zealand. We were on a cruise that covered that portion of the world, and we loved it.
We are from nz, we couldnt choose between fiji and samoa to spend the week to warm up so flew to samoa last week. Your making me wish we went to fiji.
How far away was the resort from the airport? We couldnt find a decent resort to stay at close to the airport without going to another island

He won't go there as he goes to b the same places all the time and eats the same foods. He would be looking for a 7 -11 as soon as he got off the plane.

Best Foodie Travel Moments Ever😂
Hi Mike! Love these videos you should do some more catch and cooks !!
I'm from Tasmania and cant wait to see those videos of our humble island. Our food scene is smaller than other states on the mainland but we do pack a punch. Hope you had fun (assuming you're still travelling and just haven't uploaded the videos yet) and feel like coming back :)
Hey Mike! Huge fan of your work ❤❤❤❤
Glad to see you visit Fiji, do check out other parts of Lapitanesia/Lapinesia (more widely known as Melanesia) & other South Pacific island parts when you can. Sorry to find you had an underwhelming hotel dinner that one night
