In 1989/90 NBA regular season you could see that being one season out killed Bird's legs. I remember Rick Barry stating that Bird's shooting was suffering from tired legs, for being one year off.
It's hard not to give Larry all the credit, the 76rs did a pretty good job keeping up. But the guy was unstoppable right to the very end. The mark of the GOAT
Unfortanetly this season ended in a humiliating lost to the Knicks in the first round. After losing the Atlantic Division to Barkley's 76ers, Boston won the 2 first two games against the Knicks quite easily only to lose the next three in embarassing fashion. In 1992 an even more injured Bird managed, through his will, to avoid, yet again, another early elimination against the young running Indiana Pacers.
Dude your so right about 1990. After scoring 157 points in game 2 it looked like the Celtics were peaking at the right time and I really thought they could have given Detroit problems in the second round. But in game 5 Larry missed a reverse dunk late and Ewing hit a prayer of a 3 late and the Jimmy Rodgers experiment
I wish Larry Bird didn't suffer injuries at all from 1987-1992, we could have seen some of the greatest play in NBA history, we missed out; same with Magic having to retire due to HIV, we missed out.

41pts with bone spurs, achilles soreness and a bad back that requires hours of traction before each game.

He was amazing. The older and more banged up and slow he got, the more efficient he became. The Celtics were contenders every year he played

Anybody get the irony about announcement re: use of this footage without express written consent? Welcome to RUclips 😂
Was thinking the same thing 😀
Larry Bird was the Boston Celtics.
And Barkley thinks he was as good as Bird…..Lol!
That's what he says. He's trying to trick fools
@@cgraf69 If Barkley had Parish n McHale he'd won numerous chips
@@noelharris5488 Damn! Talk about insulting Moses Malone, Dr. J, Mo Cheeks and Andrew Toney
I can just about make out Larry saying, “May-horn”. Rick hated when Larry said his name like that.
And Kleine comes through!!!
Bird is so much fun to watch. :)
larryyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
RIP Tommy

That Caltics-Pacers series was epic, classic Bird willing the Celts to victory

Barkley guarding him was easy money screening away.
And against, Barkley, Mahorn and Bobby Jones..no slouches on D.

Who would have thought bigman bust Joe Kleine would hit the go ahead basket winner.
celtics would be wise to give ball to mchael and bird MORE wow rest of team stinky
Bird sure knew how to get open! Not just in this game but his whole career.
sub par game for charles

That's why Barkley said that Larry Bird was the hardest guy to guard . This was the stuff of nightmares for him.
