Hey Dave I think Dorset Tourist Office should pay you a fee for the marvelous incentives you give us to come to your neck of the woods. The beauty of it all gives me a real treat. Thank you so much from France🐸🐕
@@DaveFord you brighten my day today Dave and Logan. Such a peaceful serene walk with the water flowing and Logan having such fun . I was smiling and enjoying each minute of this wonderful walk. Thank you both and take care💕
Dave . Logan . I absolutely love your videos. Grew up in Wimborne st Giles , lived around Dorset all my life . Gillingham now. Still have family in Deanland (out through Handley ) your knowledge and demeanor are just perfect. Give logan a pat on the head from me . ❤
Thanks once again Dave for stirring up the old memories of years gone by spent many hours fishing the Stour around that area, and just as many hours drinking at the Spetisbury Manor night club back in the early seventies, it was a pretty wild club back then even made The News of the World headlines for it's raucous hens strip nights lol.
Thanks again Dave for such a well put together video. I’ve been driving trains for 15 years and am fascinated by the disused lines and regularly enjoy walking them. Moved to Stur Marshall a couple years back and have enjoyed the local walks since, although have yet to fully explore the area. My wife and I are doing part of the route you’ve covered in this video later today and enjoyed a cuppa atop Spetisbury Rings on Sunday. I’m amazed how so many people locally have never explored a little outside their villages, there’s so much history and interesting features of the landscape to enjoy. Thanks again, really enjoy your videos and all the work that goes into them. All the best! Martin
@@DaveFord it was superb Dave, we think the old Abbey next to St Mary’s church is under the tree line as you maybe suggested. There’s a substantial brick wall running the length of it all, the time of year and overgrowth makes it hard to see though. A great walk and we ended up doing the full circular trail you covered. I’m off tomorrow and feel the urge to stretch the legs so will take a gander at more of your videos for inspiration. All the best 👍
Dave...I love your videos with Logan and your narrated histories. I plan on visiting several of these Dorset locations, while I'm in Cerne Abbas for 2 weeks. Thank you for the uploads. Keep posting...just wonderful.
@@DaveFord - Hopefully, it won’t be too hot…don’t mind a little rain. Also, thanks for the parking information at the beginning of your videos. I’ll be driving on the left for the first time!
Hi Dave, I just watched this one for the first time, lovely video, thanks. Have you ever watched the Jack Hargreaves episode of The Old Country where he walks up the Tarrant and discusses how they would settle further up a river as successive generations needed more land on which to live and farm, and they would give each new farm a name further along the river. Fascinating.
Dave, thank you for another wonderful walk, full of well researched history. I've strolled along that stretch of trailway many times, but have never been up to the Spettisbury Rings. Perhaps next time.
Perfect walking weather again Dave. I was going to say that Dorset's always sunny and warm, but having been to West Bay yesterday it was grey with a cold wind, so that's blown that theory. Stopped at the Mason's Arms in Odcombe (nr Yeovil) on the way back, had a pint of Ferret in your honour (usually a Golden Champion man myself). I put one behind the bar for you, and a bag of crisps for the lad. Keep up the good work.
Wow Dave there's certainly a lot to see on this walk. I especially enjoyed the fascinating history of Tarrant Crawford Abbey and beautiful church. Fantastic views across the beautiful Dorset countryside. Love it.
Love Spetisbury. but not on the 350, which can be a nightmare. Watch out after heavy rain as it can be a flood plain and the speed cameras do work, ask me how I know.

I second that.😊

Thank you both!
Thank you. He is a clever hound!

Once again, a lovely walk Dave much enjoyed. Thankyou !
Thank you & indeed thanks for watching.
Great views to see and interesting facts to learn - but best of all was the Whippet zoomies, of course! Logan is such a star!
Thank you. Yes - Logan does love his "Zoomies"!

Thank you. Yes, if only the folk that are living at Spetisbury Manor today knew what went on in that building all those years ago!
Another beautiful walk Dave and a great video. I’ll be coming down to Dorset tomorrow to do this walk.
I hope that you have good weather for your walk & have an enjoyable time.
All the Tarrents have a great history about them, have not walked through that bit for quite a while and kudos for the video.
Thank you. I am looking forward to going back to around that area soon to explore some more about that history. Thank you for watching.

Thanks Dave. Will add this walk to my list before the summer is over.
I hope that the weather is good for you when you do your walk. All the best. Dave.
Jack Hargreaves’s did a very good programme about the “Tarrants” , on one of his Out of Town series. Well worth at watch !!
Thanks for the information - will check that one up.
It was brilliant to meet you on this walk, i really enjoy the history and knowledge sharing.
Thank you. It was lovely to meet you too!
Another great walk we must try!
Thank you Pauline.
Delightful Dave and Logan, a much appreciated distraction. Thank you to you both 😊
Thank you Matt. :)

Thank you Charles. There is a fair part of the fort that is well preserved and easy to explore.
Hello Dave what a lovely walk ! Nice to see a zoomie Logan in high speed mode! 😅
Thanks Ralph. Although now a "veteran", Logan has still got some speed in him!

Thank you. My favourite is Ringwood Best but sadly it doesn't travel well! Hall & Woodhouse produced a fair pint though!
Wow Dave there's certainly a lot to see on this walk. I especially enjoyed the fascinating history of Tarrant Crawford Abbey and beautiful church. Fantastic views across the beautiful Dorset countryside. Love it.
Thanks Rachel. The paintings on the wall in the church at Tarrant Crawford were amazing.
I love this walk. The botanical garden is really worth a visit - exhibitions on how perfumes are made and a fantastic cafe!
Thanks for the recommendation - I shall go back and visit it for sure.
Nice one Dave.
Thank you Peter.
Thanks
Thank you so very much for your "Super Thanks" - that was very kind of you.

The River Stour is beautiful in the Summer but can be quite a torrent in the Winter!
