Look at the camera(people) when your talking Mr. Bromkamp. When your holding a object to promote your tips don't stare at it, show us while your looking and talking to the camera. Speech 101-Whats in the box? Was my number one question through out the video. Awesome detail about scent control, thanks for sharing your tips. Safe hunts everybody!
"Scent-No-Mo” Spray (home-made) Ingredients: 16 oz. (2 cups) hydrogen peroxide, 3% solution (normal brown bottle type found in drug stores) 16 oz. (2 cups) distilled water 1/4 cup baking soda 1 oz. unscented shampoo (Wildlife Research Center Scent Killer green unscented shampoo works very well) Note: remember ) 32 oz. = 1 quart; expand ingredient amounts proportionately for larger amount of end product. Directions: (1) Mix ingredients in large bowl so baking soda dissolves (water, then peroxide, then baking soda, then soap). (2) Pour into clean 1 gal. plastic milk jug (easily found in most homes). Note: do not shake! (3) Let sit at moderate temperature for several days until chemical reaction settles down. Note: do not leave in tightly sealed container (use milk jug with snap-on cap)! (4) Pour prepared mixture into spray bottle(s) of your choosing. HAPPY HUNTING!
Third weekend of bow season. Went for evening hunt and set up down wind of my hunting spot. Heard stomps behind me and the deer had moved in and smelled me. Watched as they looked, heads high and licking noses. Stayed perfectly still. They blew and soon was off. I did not take extra time to cover scent. Just sprayed down with scent killer and let it go at that. BUSTED
I keep all my stuff in a big 2 gallon ziploc bag. I am in Oregon. Lots of evergreens and conifers around. So I mix cedar, fir, pine and spruce needles in the bags with my hunting clothes. I put them on right when I walk in by my car. As soon as I am done I spray down with scent killer and put back in the back with the fir needles so they are ready to go for next time.
Basically, thanks for the video! I basically have not been lucky this season and basically I’m trying to eliminate any thing that basically is contributing to my failure to kill a deer this season. This video basically confirms what I was thinking, which is basically use scent free products to basically hide my scent from those damn deer!!! Thanks bud 😉
Back in 2011 I did some work in a wildlife park in Africa. I was taking a stroll in this park one day with a camp owner when this herd of elephants came walking up (~40). Normally we'd just get out the way and let them pass, but we saw a gorgeous tree with thick branches. We climbed up it, and sat on a branch high enough out of reach from these elephants. Then this camp owner lights up this massive f*cking joint, the size of a f*cking cuban, and starts smoking this thing. I also had a few hits (I'm not a big smoker). We were like Cheech and Chong in a tree. So, elephants wandered on over, milling, chilling, and moved on. Nothing happened at all, didn't smell us. It was awesome to see. And these were mozambique elephants that go bananas at the mere hint of humans (because of the civil war and poaching). And it was hot, we were sweaty, I was wearing my army boots that I've been stinking up since 2004. Moral of the story, find a tree, light up a smelly ass joint and chill :D For the record, I'm not trying to diss my man here. I'm sure his tips are very valid and effective. However, there is a kick to be had out of being able to chill with nature 'as is' without too much tacticool, if you know what I mean. We humans come from nature, it shouldn't be that hard for us to return to it. edit: we didn't have any guns on us btw.
It still eliminates a good majority of your scent. Plus you're keeping your clothes in a container till you get there, then spraying down, and then using some sort of breath spray to neutralize your mouth odor. Like the man said, nothing is 100%, but even if you reduce your scent by 50-60%, the deer could think you are much further away than you really are, allowing you to get closer for a shot. Hope that makes sense. :)
I had a buddy that filled his talk with gas 20 minutes before arriving at his treestand. He spilled gas all over his hunting gloves... I mean, he drenched them... but still wore them in his tree stand. He shot 3 does in the first 30 minutes of MN hunting season., 2004. Having said that, I have used the scent free bar soap and have been busted by deer a million times - when I started taking a shower with no soap 2 days prior and the evening prior, I've had deer within 20 yards. That scent free bar soap is horrendous - deer smell it like bleach. Wash your clothes twice in baking soda and hang them outside to get outside scent on them. That's it. Total Cost less than $5.
Good tips for sure, however, I have killed more big deer here in Mississippi than a lot of others who spend the extra money on all of that scent block stuff. I do not use it, never have, always get three or four bucks a year and a few years when I hunted a lot, got six bucks 6 point up to ten point.
@@dans4270 you bet! I cannot tell you how many times deer have busted me due to some odor or scent I dragged into my hunting area. If haven’t checked out any of Whitetail Habitat Solutions video by Jeff Sturgis, please do. The guy is a legend and has tips and advice on everything Whitetail. I’ve utilized his system and haven’t been busted since. Doesn’t matter if you use bow, rifle, or a muzzleloader, use a system of cleaning and de-scenting everything each and every time you go into the field. If you hunt with a bait pile or food plot, each and every time you go to drop bait or enter the food plot, spray your boots and clothing. Always wear rubber gloves and leave no scent behind. I’d stay away from those commercial scent attractants too. Those “doe-in-heat” or doe in estrus may attract bucks, but what happens if the buck is close and doesn’t see a doe? They turn and head out, and you may not even see them. Those scents also deter does that are not in heat from coming around. Good luck Dan.
Look at John Eberhart. He pays 0 attention to the wind and is arguably the best deer hunter ever. I agree scent can not be 100% eliminated, BUT you can get it so low that they think you are 2 miles away rather than 20 yards. They won’t spook. Hunting the wind limits you a lot, plus the wind changes a lot in hill country. If you use Scentlok, spray down your rubber boots, your release and wipe down your bow you can disregard the wind. Why go through all that trouble when you are just going to play the wind anyways? You do all that so you don’t have to play the wind.
Also, you shouldn’t wash your Scentlok. Scentlok should only go in the dryer to be re activated. Scentlok shouldn’t be stored with non Scentlok clothing, it should be stored separately. When used properly activated carbon does not need to be sprayed.
The best thing I found is just wash all your clothes in sent free detergent you can buy different brands that make your hunting clothes Sent free. I wash mine in tide free and clear with a little baking soda. Then hang outside for 2 or3 days for woodsy smell till dry bring them in put in Tub with sent wafers earth Dirt sent in tub till ready to hunt.
Idc what people say, it's not going to hurt you at all to use these items while trying to kill animals who's main defense is their sense of smell. Yes, you may still kill that doe or spike but I'll bet it wasn't a 5 year old dear at 20 yards...
"Killed a buck last week while i was in the stand drinking a beer, and smoking a cig" .. 1. Thanks for making hunters look irresponsible (but to a drunk that means nothings im sure) and 2. im sure the part he left out was he shot and killed probably a yearling or maybe a 2 year old deer and probably shot it with a shotgun or rifle ..

This mixture must be used soon after mixing. There is no shelf life, as the h2o2 immediately begins shedding it's extra oxygen molecule.

All that prep and then climb into your truck you drive every day. What's the point?

That's why I use the sent crusher go plug in that plugs in your cigarette lighter thing
Wait till you get to woods to change clothes
Brendan Jay he does all that then still says hunt the wind.....if you are gonna do all that no reason to hunt the wind

QUESTION! Do you or should you ckean/descent your bow?
Spray everything you take in the field with Scent Killer.
@@flyersfan651 thanks 👍

Can you use your regular washing machine that you use all year
I wouldnt
I hear people say to run a load with just the detergent before you run your actual clothing through.
I do, but I run 2 full cycles with no soap or anything in there... Then put clothes in with baking soda - wash twice and hang dry usually outside.
i do but i run it with hot water and a double rinse 2 or 3 times to help wash away that detergent scent .. even if its just a little bit lol
The best thing I found is just wash all your clothes in sent free detergent you can buy different brands that make your hunting clothes
Sent free. I wash mine in tide free and clear with a little baking soda. Then hang outside for 2 or3 days for woodsy smell till dry bring them in put in
Tub with sent wafers earth
Dirt sent in tub till ready to hunt.
Is dead down wind good
Yes
I used small vacuum bags for my hunting clothes. I can have clean clothes every time I got out
How many times did he say scent away
He said "basically" about 97 times.
Basically.
I'm half way through and I've counted 16 times he has said basically 🤣
Let’s take a shot every time he says scent

So basically
I killed a buck last week while I was in the stand drinking a beer, and smoking a cig...This scent, and camo stuff is over rated.
I totally agree with you
Was it a wall hanger or just a two year old?
I think he is referring to trophy deer.
Bow hunting or with a rifle?
