He did try! He shot a drug dealer and believed he was dead until the dealer showed up in court to testify against Manson during his trial!

For this who don’t know why the Manson family went after Sharon Tate:
Manson tried getting a recording contract with Terry Melcher (a music producer), but Melcher disagreed to give him one. Manson hated him as he was prone to do.
So later on (quite a while later) he decided that he wanted the guy dead. He sent off his goons to attack Melcher’s home and kill everyone inside. However when they got there, Roman Polanski (who was elsewhere at the time for work) and Sharon Tate we’re living in the house as Melcher had moved to a different home. The goons carried out the instructions anyways and as we know, killed everyone in the home.
I watched a few manson family videos before this and this is the best one by far
