There is a reason dogs get the label man's best friend. They truly are the definition of unconditional love and compassion. They never judge and seek nothing but love from people. Dogs truly are the best.
i used to see her during every chemo treatment, and i miss her so so much. the woman’s name is Sarah and her dog Elsa works alongside others, Pinto and Bailey!
Volunteered at a local hospital years ago, had 3 therapy dogs at one point. One lucky little boy had them all come in his room, told his mom ‘THIS IS THE BEST DAY OF MY LIFE!!’
I goota tell ya i was in hospital 1st time in my life 52 yrs old had mini stroke, thank God i was fine, but stressed out too max, after 1st day they asked if they could bring in therapy dog, of course i said yes, as i was feeling down, the golden retriver walked in and put her head in my lap as if to say, it will be ok, you dont need to worry. I felt so much love, tears came to my eyes, what a great program to bring in dogs to help out, it worked for me, ill never forget that feeling!
It's a shame that a dog, the filthiest most diseased creature on the planet, didn't give you bacteria that didn't do you in back then. You actually believe that bringing massive bacteria and disease into a hospital is a good thing! What a wasted life.
i remember when I was a 12-13 year old boy I was born with a mega colon and that age was the age it was time to get fixed after another surgery I was in my room and one of the nurses brought one of these dogs in,that was the best night of my life,he jumped on my bed and me but he was so gentle as if he knew my body was fragile sometimes I wish I was back in the hospital just for that moment
Dogs will NEVER fail to cheer you up. Even if you’re having the worst day, if you don’t smile and have your heart melt when you see one you have no soul.
Naww Elsa is wonderful. A great program. Dogs are the best. I lost my darling Labrador Cindy last year. She was 14 years and 9 months. I miss her so much. 😢💙
I have a service dog and it helps me a lot everyday I don't know how but my service dog 'Elija' always manages a way to make me smile, I don't know how but that's one of the reasons why I love him
I was seriously thinking about getting my dog certified to become a therapy dog. Charlie loves people, kids and adults, and his adorable looks and calm and submissive demeanor would make him a good therapy dog. I wasn't sure if I wanted to take the leap with Charlie to get him to be a certified therapy dog, but seeing these kids and how Elsa the therapy dog cheered them up, I have decided that I'm going to get him evaluated, and hopefully certified so he can spread his puppy love to those who need it most. Thank god for Elsa, and all of the awesome therapy dogs out there
My older song needed to have back surgery when he was only 5 and before they would release him they had to observe him walking and he just absolutely refused until they brought in a therapy dog and he thought it was just the greatest thing ever to walk the dog up and down the hall and they were able to confirm he was walking well enough and let him go home.
When I had cancer they allowed me to join or get paid I ended up picking the dog I also got to meet the dogs amazing owners and this is program is so worth it . Only thing that sucks is when your all better and have to leave now I want a service dog
@Loulou Bos No no, therapy dogs have registration. It's only service dogs and emotional support dogs that don't. other than that, you're completely right. the incompetence of people, am i right?
This reminds of when I met a therapy dog with 3 legs and her and her owner were in my hospital room for 90 minutes when she was in the hospital room with her owner I didn't need pain medication at all but when her and her owner left the hospital room I needed some pain medication again and also I was on a pain meditation pump therapy dogs make you forget what you're going through at the hospital for a little bit at least
This is really cool. They make a big different when people are in the hospital. they need more dog specialists, so that more patients can get golden retriever time while in the hospital. Would be helpful to elderly patients, patients who are alone or without family, patients with anxiety, etc.
Hello! I’ve been in the hospital too and Elsa is so nice if you want to keep in contact with her you can follow her Instagram pawsitive_playtch and text her like I do!
Yes...this service dog is absolutely awesome 💚🐾🐾It is a great stress reducer. It gives you a feeling of peace and security. It is great that there is such a therapeutic program in hospitals. All the best for Texas Children's Hospital 🇨🇱 from 🇵🇱🦅.Good Luck Texas 🇨🇱
I hope sweet Elsa gets to depressurize on a regular basis. I have a sweet girl Yellow Labrador Retriever also, and I know how gentle and wonderful these doggies can be, so it's in their nature to be supportive and accepting, but they need relief from all that work every now and then.
I wish my school's therapy dog was like this instead it jumps everytime it see's a stuffed toy and then whimpers when separated from his owner this dog shown in the video is professionally trained
You could definitely ask your doctor about that! He/she may be able to direct you to resources on that. I’d also recommend looking up non-profit organizations that train service dogs in your area, and contacting them to see if you may qualify for a service dog. Some service dogs are specifically trained for anxiety and/or agoraphobia. :)
@Loulou Bos It's true they are not the same in terms of levels of training and who and how they assist. However, there are service dogs available for people who struggle with severe anxiety that negatively affects their daily life and impedes them from doing things that people that don't have anxiety can do. People CAN have a service dog for that.
@Loulou Bos Ah, I see. Yes, therapy dogs are not usually assigned to individuals. I'm happy that you've benefitted from service dogs! I think they are wonderful. I'm training to be a psychologist, and I've heard good things.
Assistance or therapy dog? Both were mentioned...but different. She is an employee? Hope the dog is covered by liability insurance just in case anything happens.
The best therapists and psychologists in the world aren't humans. They walk on four legs, have paws and fur and a wagging tail, and also bark and howl.
Actually, what you're looking for is an emotional support dog? therapy dogs and emotional support dogs (and service dogs) are not the same thing, they actually have very important differences, and if you mislabel them you could be breaking the law
Therapy dogs are supposed to look tired, because they're supposed to be a comforting and calming presence, not excited. Honestly, she very well could be tired. being a therapy dog and getting all that love every day is hard work XP
no I have been visited by her many many times I was on the 15th floor (Heart floor) and they don’t Walk in if your door is closed they knock, if it’s open they ask to come in ;) hope this helped!
Beautiful dog. One of the ladies spoke using this professional-speak, which was really unnecessary for this situation. Enhanced competencies and all that rubbish...she’s talking about a dog for goodness sake.
Not a service dog. Therapy dog. Therapy dogs bring comfort to people in public environments like hospitals, nursing homes, schools, etc. service dogs are trained to mitigate disabled people's disability. They go through two years of training, don't require certification like therapy dogs do, are task trained (emotional support is not a task), and are trained to behave well in public so they get public access rights.
It would be nice if you didnt show yourselves off so much and let people see the dog's more and doing what they do best. You take away from the dog's doing magic by your taking up camera time more.
Allergies cause anxiety, you get dog for anxiety, then dog cause anxiety, then unwittingly you kling to k9 even more, for comfort. Sad world we live in

A service dog is for disabled individuals, you have to have a disabling condition to qualify for a service animal. Pet dogs are free, though.
Oscar (Dachshund) is my own Registered Therapy Dog. He has saved my life. I Love him so much.
@Loulou Bos No no, therapy dogs have registration. It's only service dogs and emotional support dogs that don't. other than that, you're completely right. the incompetence of people, am i right?
Your dog is not registered and not a therapy dog.
My dog and I have started our training and I really, really hope we will be able to do the same as Sarah and Elsa one day.

My oldest dog(Elvis) has the perfect temperament of a therapy dog
So amazing! I wish we had this program down we’re I live 💖💖

In my country therapy dogs are not allowed on the beds as infection control laws

@@heylinspongesprite they might be somewhere like in the uk where service dogs aren’t considered for anxiety
Good doctor ever😘👍💖
Magical ❤
Dog are so cute guys
How could a person give that a thumbs down?
safety reasons maybe. or just bots. or just pure stupidity.
Trevor because they’re retards!
Assistance or therapy dog? Both were mentioned...but different. She is an employee? Hope the dog is covered by liability insurance just in case anything happens.
My Little Dog Shoppe South Park PA Assistance dog is an umbrella term for service dogs, emotional support animals, And therapy animals

How to start emotional therapy dog group?
Actually, what you're looking for is an emotional support dog? therapy dogs and emotional support dogs (and service dogs) are not the same thing, they actually have very important differences, and if you mislabel them you could be breaking the law
it does matter why it works it is just that it works
Someone explain the downvotes.
❤❤❤
Well service dogs aren’t facility workers. Their only trained to help one individual.
Wow.. that's right, because I really have a wonderful well trained dog..
Hello.!! Megan Strickland...

so do you always just walk into a patient's room with a large dog unannounced?
no I have been visited by her many many times I was on the 15th floor (Heart floor) and they don’t Walk in if your door is closed they knock, if it’s open they ask to come in ;) hope this helped!
Beautiful dog. One of the ladies spoke using this professional-speak, which was really unnecessary for this situation. Enhanced competencies and all that rubbish...she’s talking about a dog for goodness sake.
We don’t deserve dogs 🐕🥹
Service dog
Not a service dog. Therapy dog. Therapy dogs bring comfort to people in public environments like hospitals, nursing homes, schools, etc.
service dogs are trained to mitigate disabled people's disability. They go through two years of training, don't require certification like therapy dogs do, are task trained (emotional support is not a task), and are trained to behave well in public so they get public access rights.

First step, is to fix the cause of anxiety.
There are hypoallergenic breeds of dog.
